Leader: May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”
People: For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O God, You have made us for human companionship, but we have chosen our own lonely way. You have called us to make commitments and to live by them, but we have violated Your promises and made excuses for ourselves. You have created us to reflect Your glory, but we have turned away from the example and sacrifice of Christ to seek our own way. Turn us back from our limited vision and hardness of heart to become more fully Your own people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)
Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
