*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Come, travelers and sojourners; there is a place for you here.

People: God grants bread for our journey and offers places of refuge on the way.

Leader: Blessed are those who hope in the Lord, and avail themselves of God’s ever present help.

People: God reigns in righteousness forever and ever; we will sing God’s praises as long as we live.

Leader: Let us prepare our hearts for worship in prayer.

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord Jesus, today is the beginning of a new day. You have given us this day to use as we see fit. Help us not to waste it, but to grow in its light and be of service to others. For what we do with this day is of great importance, because we exchange a day of our lives for it. Forgive us for the time we have wasted in the past, and strengthen us for the day that lies ahead. May we celebrate its beauty by sharing Your love. In Your name we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (John 3:16-17)

Leader: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

Come to the banquet God has prepared,

Come to the Banquet

A table of plenty, no cost has been spared. Christ is our servant, we are His guest At a feast of forgiveness where all will be blessed.

Come and remember as you eat this bread All the ways that He fed you by the words that He said. There’s rest for the weary, strength for the small. O come and remember the Savior of all.

Come to the table, rejoice in the cup That refreshes the spirit and lifts our souls up. Come drink your fill till hearts overflow, O come to the banquet where God’s grace is shown.

Go from the banquet with hearts strong and pure, Your place at the table forever secure. Ask all who hunger to join with you there, For there’s room at the banquet and plenty to share.

THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

All who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and have been baptized are welcome to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Children who have been baptized and instructed in its meaning are also welcome to partake. Please hold the bread, so that all may commune together, but drink the cup when served.
