*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.

*GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious Lord, in Jesus Christ You have given us the Light of the world. Forgive us when we choose darkness and cling to sins that hide the brightness of Your love. Renew our lives, and set us free to reflect Your love to the entire world. All this we ask, so that we may be prepared for Christ’s coming. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)

Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

SCRIPTURE

Leader: This is the word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God!

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Poor Man Lazrus

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame. He had to eat crumbs from the rich man’s table.

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame.

Chorus:

I’m tormented in the flame. I’m tormented in the flame.

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame.

Rich man Divies he lived so well.

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame. And when he died he went straight to hell.

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame. Chorus.

I love to shout, I love to sing!

Dip your finger in the water, come and, cool my tongue, ‘cause I’m tormented in the flame. I love to praise my heav’nly King!
