PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord of mercy, we confess that we have too often forgotten that we are Yours. Sometimes in our trials and troubles, we carry on in our lives as if there was no God and fall short of being a credible witness to You. For these things we ask Your forgiveness. We ask for Your timely provision and Your strength and resilience. Give us clear minds and trusting hearts so we may witness to You in our world. Remind us to be who You would have us to be regardless of who we are with and what we are doing. Hold us to You and build our relationship with You and with those You have given us on earth. In Jesus’ Name. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader: It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God's pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
ANTHEM
Be Thou My Vision Summer Choir
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art: Thou my best thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
arr. Marie Pooler
Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always: Thou, and Thou only, first in my heart, Great God of heaven, my treasure Thou art.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE
Romans 8:28-39
28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! (10:30AM) ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. *HYMN #642, vs. 1,3,4

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION SCRIPTURE 1 Peter 1:3-9 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. WALKING BESIDE MINISTRY The Lord said that though adversity is part of earthly life, He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Any time God allows trials in our life, He has a purpose for them. No matter where affliction originates, by the time it reaches us, it’s been shaped according to the Father’s good purposes. God is teaching us something that will help us succeed later. The question is: Will we cooperate with Him or resist? When we experience trials or trouble, it becomes an opportunity for growth. Are you struggling with some adversity in your life? Do you need a Christian ear to help you recognize the opportunity the Lord has placed in front of you? We are here to listen and encourage; give us a call. Or maybe you have a couple of friends and you’d love to do a skit for our friends at The Heritage. Bring your ideas, bring your smiles, and brighten your day as well as others’! We meet at 12:45 pm at The Heritage, 36590 N Pima Rd # 3481, Carefree, AZ 85377 on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Contact Jeffrey at music@deserthills.org if you have questions or to volunteer.
