SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY Sunday, May 22, 2022 9:00am & 10:30am
PRELUDE WORDS OF WELCOME *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: You have called us to this place, O Lord. People: Each one of us is unique, with differing gifts and talents. Leader: Yet each talent represented here is valuable in God’s realm. People: Lord, help us find ways in which to use our talents for healing and hope. Leader: Come, let us praise the Lord who has called us here. People: Let us open our hearts and spirits to God’s word and will for us. PRAYER OF INVOCATION *HYMN #466
Jesus, Our Lord and King
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen. *GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION God, you call us to be the body of Christ: to live in community, to love and care for one another, to use our different gifts. Yet, instead of working to sustain community, we follow our own desires. Instead of trusting in your care, we think we can do it alone. Forgive our neglect of others. Give us obedient spirits, that we may care for one another, depend on your love, and use our gifts to build your church and extend your gospel. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader: It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God's pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. EASTER RESPONSE

ANTHEM
Many Gifts, One Spirit Chancel Choir
Many gifts, one spirit, many songs, one voice Many reasons, one promise, many questions, one choice. O, God, we pray for unity, give guidance from above. In our differences unite us in the circle of your love. O, God, remind us we are not alone. Though we move on different pathways, we are walking to your throne. Help us learn to love each other, show us ways to understand.
Allen Pote We are members of one family, growing strong by joining hands. O, God, remind us we are not alone. Though we move on different pathways, we are walking to your throne. Take our many ways of working, blend the colors of each soul into the beauty of a rainbow. Give us life, Lord, make us whole.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. SCRIPTURE Romans 12:1-8 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS (10:30) PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less OLD HUNDREDTH
SCRIPTURE Romans 12:9-21 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. SERMON *HYMN #526

Our family is truly grateful for the heartfet messages of sympathy, cards and prayers on our behalf following the passing of Lloyd. We have felt the strength that only God can give at such a sudden and unexpected loss. We love you all, our “church family”. Gratefully, Donna Meyer Thank you for your kindness and generosity-to all who provided food and friendship for Chris and myself. We could not have done it without you. This is a note to all who fed us everyday. Thank you and may God Bless You and may you always be in God’s love, Peggy and Chris Heydrick

WALKING BESIDE MINISTRY As we have learned from the sermons the last several weeks, the Lord allows pain in our life. Sometimes He even orchestrates it. Trials often strengthen our faith, make us more like Jesus, and give us compassion for others. With His help, we profit immensely more from walking through the pain than from trying to avoid it. Walking Beside team members are here to walk with you through times like Job’s by providing encouragement, inspiration, and hope through the presence of Christ’s love. We look forward to hearing from you. (Our ministry relies solely on funds raised; we are not funded by the church operating budget.)
