To God Be the Glory
André Chailleux
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen. *GLORY BE TO THE FATHER Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before you our sinful nature, prone to evil and slow to do good; and all our shortcomings and offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned: in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord. In Jesus Christ forgive our sins and by the power of your Holy Spirit cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us to live as new creations and teach us to walk in your ways for your name’s sake. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader: It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God's pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. EASTER RESPONSE

ANTHEM
Alleluia! Sing for Joy Chancel Choir
Johann Michael Haydn
Christ is risen, sing for joy. The Lord has triumphed. The Lord has triumphed gloriously. The Lord is risen, sing for joy. Sing alleluia… This is the day the Lord has made; Let all give thanks. God’s love endures forevermore. PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. SCRIPTURE II Corinthians 5:14-21 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS [10:30] Ron and Karen Atkinson John and Catherine Campbell Sally Grimes PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

OLD HUNDREDTH
SCRIPTURE [Then they all went home,] but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
John 8:1-11
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” SERMON *HYMN #17, vs. 1, 2, 5

WALKING BESIDE MINISTRY As we have learned from the sermons on Job the last several weeks, the Lord allows pain in our life. Sometimes He even orchestrates it. Trials often strengthen our faith, make us more like Jesus, and give us compassion for others. With His help, we profit immensely more from walking through the pain than from trying to avoid it. Walking Beside team members are here to walk with you through times like Job’s by providing encouragement, inspiration, and hope through the presence of Christ’s love. We look forward to hearing from you. (Our ministry relies solely on funds raised; we are not funded by the church operating budget.) Laurann Cook Barb Conti Joe Gilleland Steve Haver Moon Kahn
