ORDER OF WORSHIP Maundy Thursday 7:00pm, April 14, 2022 PRELUDE WELCOME *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: This night is about God's love displayed in Jesus' life of service. We are Jesus' disciples following Him as he moves toward the cross. People: Even as He wraps a towel around His waist. Even as He kneels to wash the dust from His disciples’ feet. Leader: We are Jesus' disciples as we share tonight the last meal Jesus offered to His friends, His disciples. People: And now offers to us all. Leader: We are Jesus' disciples, longing to be faithful, even as the night grows dark. People: Even as betrayers loom. Even as the powers that oppose Jesus press in around us. Leader: We are Jesus' disciples, struggling to love even as Jesus loves. All:
We are Jesus' disciples gathered here this night to worship God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Inspired by John 13) Loving Christ, on that night long ago, you knew that your hour had come and what lay ahead of you. Your disciples loved and followed you, but they had also failed you and would fail you again that night. One would even betray you. Yet you washed their feet, as a servant would, even those of your betrayer. We also love and follow, yet fail you. We also fall short in comprehending the love you show us, the love that is our example, the love that tells us to do as you have done for us. Please forgive us. Make us more like you, Master Jesus, as servants of all. May all see how we long to be your faithful disciples. May all see how we love each other, just as you have loved us. In your holy name we pray. Amen.
