Most Expensive Sales

As 2014 wound to a close, Manhattan apartment prices continued to rise. The average sales price in November, $1.9 million, represented an increase of 6 percent over October’s $1.8 million average.

The two most expensive condo sales of the month were in the new development One57, the first tower on a stretch of West 57th Street that has been dubbed Billionaire’s Row. The most expensive sale was an 81st floor unit with four bedrooms that sold for $55.5 million, while the secondmost expensive was an apartment on the 58th floor that sold for $34 million.

Snapshot Journalist and TV anchor Meredith Viera bought an $8.9 million penthouse in the historic Central Park West co-op the Eldorado. Its seller purchased it for $6.25 million in 2011. The home is a threebedroom stunner with two large terraces and Central Park reservoir views.

“Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons bought a $2.9 million penthouse in Gramercy Park with his partner, Todd Spiewak.

It is their fourth apartment purchase in the same building, 36 Gramercy Park East, which gives residents a key to Gramercy Park. The building opened in 1906, becoming notable for its ornamental terra cotta façade. In 2009, the building underwent an interior overhaul and sales began on the 53 co-op units.

TV weatherman Sam Champion sold a condo in the Upper West Side building for $4.7 million. Champion bought the 2,019-square-foot unit on the top floor of 45 West 67th Street in 1995 for $750,000. The 33-story building was erected in 1985 and has 170 condos with impressive Central Park views.
