The Land-Grant Ledger: June 2022
Dean's Message
Dear stakeholders and supporters of TSU’s Land-Grant Programs,
Advertisement
We are pleased to share in this issue Governor Lee’s visit to Lauderdale county cooperative extension program. Governor Lee has put rural development as one of his key goals from the beginning and has been very supportive of extension work by Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee as part of his rural development vision. We are very thankful to Governor Lee for his continued support to TSU and its statewide extension program. We are fortunate to host US Vice President Kamala Harris as the keynote speaker at our spring graduation ceremony. Students and their families were thrilled to meet and listen to VP Harris's beautiful speech. We thank President Glover for this history making event possible. We are so thankful to Kroger for donating $100,000 to support qualified agricultural students. We are in conversation with a number of other companies for potential partnerships and support to our students. National Institute of Food and Agriculture has just awarded $1.92 million to the College to establish a Center of Excellence on Natural Resources, Renewable Energy, and Climate Smart Agriculture. We are confident that this Center will continue to get funding from NIFA and private organizations who have already expressed interest to support this endeavor. This Center will help develop climate smart technologies and workforce development in the fields of Agriculture and Forestry.
Chandra Reddy, Dean
Director of Research and Administrator of Extension
