FORM and MOVEMENT Primitive shapes drove the conception of this project. The shapes are translated through 2D collage to 3D form, back to 2D elevation collages, and again to 3D model. The final models bring dynamic life to the flat collage through command manipulation in Rhino.

MATERIALITY CASE STUDY: DOMINUS WINERY Through elevation diagrams of the Dominus Winery in California, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, I analyzed the materiality of the steel gabions that build the facade. I also speculated phenomenologically how the gabions could deteriorate over time.

MATERIALITY: YARN and ALUMINUM FOIL I took advantage of yarn’s various gauges to create an interesting textural experience in this “room” and laid out individual strands of yarn in a color-block pattern. Through this, I’ve created a comfortable and relaxing space, and the background reflects this experience. The aluminum foil room is made from crinkled and smooth pieces of foil creates a contemplative and reflective space.

WHITE U HOUSE: DIAGRAMMATIC ANALYSIS Through plan and axonometric diagrams, I analyzed the White U House’s formal, spatial, and organizational strategies. In particular, I’ve highlighted sound, grid and radial organization, sight lines, openings and light, form, and movement created by the walls.

DUALIS PAVILION As the visitor approaches the pavilion with their family or friends, the heavier density of mesh pushes them toward the lighter density of mesh to the entrance. Additionally, the curves of the walls and the constricting corridors guide them around the pavilion. Just as the method of movement is prescribed, the landscaping at the center is pruned and low. The rammed earth material represents the stereotomic nature of carving, contrasting with the airy mesh.

VALUE, LINE, and SEQUENCE Through the course of Representation I, we studied and practiced line, value, perspective, and observation to culminate into a final project. I drew Newhouse I, designed by I. M. Pei, on Syracuse University’s campus. I collaged various views to create a sequence of how one would approach, visit, and view the building.

MASS TIMBER HOTEL PROTOTYPE Prototype for a nine-story hotel using mass timber with different material designs for the base. Concrete, timber, and steel each have different structural capabilities and thus different structural requirements, which I modeled in SketchUp with the help of structural documents.

Completed during DLR Group Internship under the mentorship of Robert Larson and Kailey Smith; structural drawings provided

by DLR Group.

T3 OMAHA Continuing from someone else’s work and using a site landscaping plan, I updated this context drawing with the a building plan drawing, a corrected street alignment and lakefront outline, and landscaping and planters to the plaza.

Completed during DLR Group Internship under the mentorship of Stephen Cavanaugh and Kailey Smith; landscape drawing provided by others, building plan provided by DLR Group.

LAWNDALE COOKS Located on a vacant lot in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood is a culinary school. Here, the community has access to a sit-down food option and access to new skills. The rooftop garden provides the restaurant with a variety of fresh ingredients. This culinary school and restaurant aims to help resolve some of the socioeconomic issues in the neighborhood revealed through research.
