Because of their uniqueness, our ancestors used them for different purposes: to offer tribute to their deities, for commercial activities, artistic expressions, and decorative items.

Nowadays, these precious stones have a strong presence in the world of jewelry. Nevertheless, only few of them have become particularly special in the region.

According to the book Gemstones of the World written by professor Walter Schumann, in Mexico some of these stones stand out; such is the case of agate, quartz, topaz, turquoise, and of course, opal.

Back in the days when the Aztec empire flourished, opal was known as the ‘hummingbird stone’ because its shine was similar to the colors of the plumage of this bird they used to worship. Today opal can be found in some states of the country, mostly in Queretaro, Jalisco, Nayarit, and Guanajuato.

Another legend transports us to Europe, where a peasant young boy fell terribly in love with the richest maiden in town: his heart had been captured by her beauty.

Deeply saddened by his condition, the boy decided to save enough money to give her a ring as prove of his love.

After five years, the young boy took enough courage and went to the maiden with the jewel on his hands. Captivated by his persistence, she thanked him because of every single day he spent figuring out how to gain her affection, not before telling him that, even without a ring she would have accepted his love because it truly shined just like gold—with the same intensity it shined that afternoon.

Another legend takes us to Africa, where the Yoruba people believe in a love and femininity goddess by the name of Oshun. According to their traditions, Oshun is a sensual woman. She wears five gold bracelets that sound like music when she lifts up her arms when dancing to the rhythm of the river. Men love her delicateness; and for that, women must wear also five golden bracelets if they wish to have their soul mate’s heart.

Beyond the myths, beliefs or tales, gold persists as an element that reminds us that romance will always be placed under his name.

ur imagination is kindled when we dive into the history books or the chronicles that tell us about the conquerors of America. How was the splendor of the so-called New World? Perhaps the pre-Columbian gold is the closest proof of this magnificent past.

It is known as pre-Columbian gold due to the fact that is was something that had already existed before Christopher Columbus set foot on the continent. Pre-Columbian gold makes reference to the different forms of art created by the cultures at that time.

In Mexico and other countries of the American continent such as Colombia and Costa Rica, among others, these ornamental arts show clear evidence of how much many cultures appreciated this precious metal. Se maneja todo tipo de joyería: 10, 14 y 18 kilates así como diamantes. La propuesta del Centro Joyero República se distribuye a lo largo de cuatro pisos y un sótano con 18 talleres de reparación y hechuras especiales.

Con ProJet 3510 CPX, es posible imprimir piezas de gran tamaño, llegando incluso hasta los 30x18x20 centímetros. Por su parte, el material con el que trabaja dicha impresora, presenta excepcionales cualidades en el proceso de vaciado en cera perdida.
