As we present this sale offering, we reflect on the past decade with immense gratitude. It has been a time of hard work, dedication, and growth, not only for our farm but also for our family, with the addition of our son Stanley and twin daughters Martha and Edith. We’ve worked tirelessly to breed and raise top-quality pedigree Hereford cattle, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with all of you.
Over the years, we’ve focused on finding exceptional sires for our females, always striving to improve the quality, performance, and genetics of our herd. We believe in the power of strong genetics, and each animal has been carefully selected to enhance the traits that matter most. Our HiHealth status reflects the care we take in maintaining the health and well-being of our cattle, ensuring that each generation thrives and meets the high standards we set.
Central to our breeding programme are the cow families, which form the backbone of our operation. These families have been built over time with a focus on key maternal traits—improving milk production, fertility, udder quality, teats, and sound feet. The ability of our cows to raise healthy, robust calves is foundational to our breeding philosophy. A standout offering is the entire crop of 2024 Heifer Calves, which represents the very best of our breeding programme, without doubt the best group of heifers reared at HVH. It’s a real pleasure to be part of the Hoghton View Herefords 10-Year Anniversary Sale. Over the last decade, Steven and Lizzie have quietly built a herd with real depth, consistency, and class and this catalogue is a brilliant reflection of all that hard work.
I’ve seen this herd develop with real purpose, each step forward backed by smart breeding choices and a clear eye for the kind of cattle that work. That kind of focus shows in the quality of stock on offer today. These cattle are more than just good-looking, they’ve got the figures, the fertility, and the functionality to back it up, whether you’re buying for pedigree or commercial use. They’re the kind of cattle that’ll hold their own anywhere, and go on to do a job.
From cow and calf pairs, heifers and a standout bull to the exciting prospect of embryo and semen lots, this offering has something for everyone. The depth of quality runs right through, with females that are built to last and genetics that will add value for years to come.

Veterinary report
We have worked with the Walker family and the Hoghton View Hereford herd since the herd’s conception in 2015. It has been a pleasure to work with such proactive herd over this time. There has been an increase in the herd size over the last 10 years, with foundation females purchased from high health herds with an emphasis based on maternal traits such as milking ability, udder quality and correctness and also docility.
Herd Health Information.
The herd is a member of the Biobest HiHealth Herdcare cattle health scheme. The herd has no shared boundaries with neighbouring cattle. Strict isolation and quarantine testing takes place if any animals are brought onto the holding. Herd level testing takes place for the following diseases.
Johnes- The herd is risk level 1 and has been since 2017.
BVD- The herd is accredited free from BVD and has been since 2018. The herd vaccinates all show and sale stock with Bovela BVD vaccine. All sale animals suitable for breeding this summer will be vaccinated in advance of the sale.
IBR- The herd is accredited for IBR and has been 2017.
Neospora- The herd is accredited for Neospora and has been since 2020.
Leptospirosis- The herd is monitored free from Leptospirosis and has been since 2020.
The farm is in a 4 year TB testing area. The last herd test was done in January 2025.
Youngstock Vaccination Programme.
Calf pneumonia- All calves are vaccinated with pneumonia vaccine pre housing to protect against pneumonia. Rispoval 2 was used in Autumn 2024 to vaccinate against PI3 and RSV.

Cattle will sell under the standard terms and conditions of Hawes Auction governed by the Livestock Auctioneers Association. These are available upon request. Payment is due on the day. Methods of payment are cheque, bank transfer or card with a 2% surcharge added on card payments. The sale will be conducted in Guineas which is charged at 105 pence.
PREGNANT FEMALES
All females detailed as being in calf have been scanned as such by a certified veterinarian.
EMBRYO QUALITY
All embryo lots are guaranteed to be Grade A conventional embryos. We are not offering any pregnancy guarantees. All embryos are GB qualified only.
SHIPPING & TRANSPORTATION COSTS
All shipping and any transportation costs of semen, embryos and live animal lots will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
LIVESTOCK LAIRAGE
Animals can remain at Hoghton View until Monday 7th July 2025 cost free, at the buyers risk. From Tuesday 8th July 2025 animals still at Hoghton View will incur a charge of £10.00 per day.
