The Designer Genes 2017 sale group would like to invite you to our 2nd Annual DGS Event
It is with great excitement that we present to you our 2nd Annual Designer Genes Hereford Sale catalogue. We were over the moon with the success of our inaugural event 12 months ago and knew that recreating it would be a challenge, but by God we think we’ve done it! After searching the whole of the UK for the best we could find, our 2017 line up is a true spectacle.
Opportunities this year include cow/calf pairs, in-calf cows, in-calf heifers and maiden heifers. In our quest to bring you the freshest and most unique genetics on offer, several of these females in this year’s sale are the first of their breeding to ever be offered for sale. Whether you are looking for phenotype, pedigree, performance data or just utter perfection, then this is the sale for you!
The Hereford breed is an international one, and this year’s offering of genetic lots epitomises this. Harvie Ranching (Canada), RSK Farms (Canada) and Iron Lake Ranch (USA) are all offering the chance to flush some of the best cows in their programs so do not miss out on these incredible offers.
We are really excited about two NEW lots that we have up for grabs this year. The first is a once in a lifetime opportunity from Romany Poll Herefords in Scotland who are offering the Pick of their Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018 heifer calf drop. With the success of the female families in the Romany herd, words alone cannot describe the potential this lot possesses. The second lot is an embryo pregnancy from the 2017 Hereford Female of the Year – Dendor 1 Jennefer 15th. Consigned by Sky High Herefords, this lot gives the purchaser the chance to own a direct son or daughter from a true breed changing female.
We think you will agree that the DGS 2017 line up is possibly the best offering of Hereford genetics in UK history. With the growth of the Hereford breed showing no signs of slowing down, this really is a great time to invest in the breed of the future. We look forward to welcoming you to Shrewsbury on the 9th December and if you have any questions about the sale please don’t hesitate to contact a member of our sale team. Sincerely,

What a way to kick off our horned offering this year! Looking at this female, it isn’t hard to see why the Blossom name is well known within the Hereford breed. Blossom 12A-16 comes from a great line of females in the Highhedges program, with her dam producing not one but three class winning heifers at the National Horned Show. She is the first daughter of Burlington J35 to be offered for sale at public auction. Top 1% of the breed for SRI and TSI and top 10% for a growth traits and Milk, this heifer would make a great addition to any program, horned or polled!

Waltzing Matilda indeed! This classy lassie smashes all the boxes. Packed with a pedigree nobody could knock, Matilda is not for the faint hearted. Her exquisite style and femininity coupled with dazzling performance are a rare combination that really bring the ‘Wow’ factor, expect this heifer to fly with the best of them come December 9th. Matilda LJ1 is the first calf by last year’s much admired entry Rockness 1 Matilda KH1, the favourite at Rockness. Her sire is a son of former sire of the year SMH Castro and ensures this lady is not going to disappoint in the maternal department. A simply stunning young heifer, a real star in the making who will be ready to sparkle in Shrewsbury!

Auckvale Alert! When the Kemp family said they wanted to offer this heifer in the sale it is safe to say we got a little bit excited. The strength of this female’s dam is more than enough to grab your attention, being the two-time Horned Female of the Year – Auckvale Lively 1058H. 1058H was also crowned Senior Female Champion at the 2017 National Horned Show. Lively 1631P is the first daughter of King Maker to be offered for sale and only the second Auckvale female ever sold at auction, not to mention her top 10% Milk EBV. King Maker’s dam is a phenomenal cow that is still going strong at 15 years of age. Looking for proven genetics then this is the female for you.

What an opportunity to own the first Pulham heifer ever to be sold at auction! Blossom 20th has been a favourite of many visitors at Pulham this summer and it isn’t hard to see why! Coming from one of the most successful Hereford cow families in the breed she has generation after generation of powerful females stacked up in her pedigree. In addition to the Badlingham Blossom family her pedigree also features the Dowager and Curly families from The Haven and standout Australian sires Yarram Pompeii V055 and Mawarra Vice Admiral. Her maternal grandsire is Haven Hotspur – Senior and Reserve Male Champion at the National Horned Show 2015 under judge PJ Budler. Her dam was also a class winner at the same show! Females that combine pedigree and phenotype like Blossom don’t come around very often, so don’t miss out!

Sired by Moesker Magnum she is only the third of his daughters to be offered for sale from the Frenchstone program. Her half-sister (Frenchstone P.1 Get Real which sold in DGS 2016) was also Female and Reserve Supreme at the Royal Welsh Show 2017. Her dam is a daughter of the world-renowned Solpoll 1 Dynamite who has had a tremendous impact at Solpoll and in many other herds. Harriet is in the top 10% for the breed for SRI and TSI and we think she is set to be a real star of the future.

A real superstar in the making! Starlet 6th is set to be a real ‘mover and shaker’ in the future Hereford breed. She’s deep bodied, big ribbed, well fleshed and as stylish as they come, and not to mention her awesome dark colour and pigment. She will be the first daughter to sell from Machine – the current Senior Polled Herd Sire at Pulham who is a son of SMH Castro (Sire of the Year 2013). Starlet’s dam is a direct daughter of Ferrari, a granddaughter of Dynamite and stems from possibly the most successful female family at Solpoll. This combination of bloodlines from two of the UK’s top herds - Solpoll and Romany has really hit the nail on the head. Not to mention she’s 10% for 200, 400 & 600 Day Weights and Milk! Yes, you read it correctly, Dendor have arrived! Anna Mary 34th is the debut DGS entry for the world renowned Dendor herd. When visiting the Dendor herd back in August this heifer was my pick of the whole Spring born heifer calf crop, she’s super sweet and feminine but carries tremendous shape and muscle definition for such a young heifer. Her pedigree is stacked with breed changers like Euro, Gilbert and Vindicator. She is the first daughter of Dendor 1 Max to ever be sold at auction and we think she is a real breed changer in the making. Originating from one of the most successful female families in the Dendor herd this heifer has already proven herself at just months of age. Dendor genetics have founded many of today’s top Hereford herds and this heifer could be just the answer you’re looking for to push your herd to the next level.

Jennefer 15th has proved herself to be one of the best cows in the UK if not the world. Her first daughter topped the inaugural DGS event, selling for 8500gns and breaking two breed records in the process. The pregnancy is sired by three potential sires, all of which are having a tremendous impact on the breed globally; Remitall Super Duty 42S (record breaking bull @ $270,000 CAN), Gouldingpoll 1 Superduty (NCBC) and SMH Kingsize (Cogent Breeding).
