The importance put on female lines in the Aberdeen Angus breed is undoubtedly an integral part of the breeds’ success in recent years and decades. The emphasis on cow families pays dividends on both a breed and herd level, and the herds that put them at the forefront of their breeding decisions are always the ones that enjoy the must success, regardless of their breeding goals. All three herds consigning in this sale have pursued this approach in their respective herds, and the animals on offer represent some of the best female families in the breed. When I first got the call to put on this sale I was beyond excited, but that excitement more than doubled after seeing the individual lots in this sale. Bob, Owen and Sarah have all consigned some of their best females to this inaugural sale, and it has been a pleasure putting this catalogue together – quality cattle make the job twice as easy. The catalogue containers some of the first daughters of HF Alcatraz 60F, Blelack Estimator S745, Paintrock Trapper and Millah Murrah Klooney K42 to ever sell, plus daughters of sale topping and show winning sires like Cheerbrook Luther and Ballindalloch Earl.

Her sire is Blelack Estimator, a high-performance son of Hallington Principal and out of the Eyrie cow family that Bob picked up from Blelack as a young calf. The combination of the Eyrie and Evora cow families mean this young female is backed up by two of the most proven and prolific female lines in the breed – females from these lines have sold to 32,000gns. Her Blelack breeding has certainly filled her with performance as she carries a top 10% figure for 200 Day Weight. This young girl has the potential to win big in the show ring, but the breeding behind also means she’ll be the kind of cow to build a herd around. The Jestress’ have won numerous titles over the years including being the first Aberdeen Angus female to win the Gold Cup at the Royal Show and Perth Sales Supreme Champion Female.
