“I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who makes things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yessayer. - F. Nietzsche, The Joyful Wisdom.

02 MALI INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, THE NEW CONTEMPORARY ART WING OF THE LIMA ART MUSEUM Lima, Peru. 2016 OFICINA DE ARQUITECTURA ARQUIDROMO

Missions assigned: Context and regulations research / Urban master plan / Concept development/ Functional architectural design / Graphic content production The project approach bets on public space as the main source to attract visitors to the new wing of the museum. It invites people to the manifestations of modern art, taking away his preconceived glamour and allowing them to observe a world otherwise understood as far from being popular. To do so, it melts the park space - accessible to all- in a swirl that goes down two levels, going through spaces in a sequence from the entirely public to the restricted. This action provides a gift: a visitor can reach the heart itself of the Museum without buying a ticket. Even a subway passenger is invited to take a look. Maybe in his course he is convinced to enter. Formally, it is proposed a recognizable gesture, maybe referring to the Moray’s circular terraces. The intention, seeking for accessibility over an interconnected young public, is to be present as unmistakable from the Google Earth view, becoming a recognizable feature in the urban fabric.

The visitor experience is almost speleological: it descends into a continuous ramp that leads to the north gallery spaces, which are stacked with gaps and visual and luminous ways of relating between them. These free from columns spaces have diverse heights, adaptable to different formats of contemporary art. At the end of the tour, there is a cave, its last corner offers a lift to return to the lobby without interfering with those who go down.

José Pablo Salinas Nolasco

The project seeks to restore somehow the original perimeter of the Parque de la Exposición, reaching with its concentric lines other nearby blocks. In this green carpet spaces are excavated that will contain the museum program, which are organized and divided into zones around a system of two different ramps, one outside for the public space and the interior one, which corresponds to the museum tour.

The approach explores the idea of symbolically reclaim the boundaries of the Park de la ExposiciĂłn, and this is manifested with a series of walkways system, which redefine the existing ones, and respond to the Beaux Arts logic that originated them.

03 ALTERNATIVE HOUSING ACADEMIC PROJECT, COLECTIVE HOUSING Monterrey, Nuevo León. 2014 MENTORS: Arch. Juan Carlos López Amador Arch. Roberto García Rosales

José Pablo Salinas Nolasco

The following collective housing proposal for Distrito Tec offers housing with a special character, the project has at first view qualities that distinguish it from any other, the complex way in which it is resolved is the project spirit, a series of diagonal lines mark the harmonious order throughout the complex, giving thus a high spatial quality. Housing blocks follow a dynamic game of chiaroscuro on the facades, forming balconies and overhangs. The habitant of the project will certainly feel attracted to the project’s dynamic, which also has houses with special features, in overhangs and bridges between two blocks, all with great views in and out of the project, this and more become living more enjoyable for the dweller. Collective housing, in this case, is the offering of a high architectural quality to the surrounding community to promote a more sustainable way of living between modern society.

04 C.E.D.C. ACADEMIC COMPETITION, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPRESSION CENTER Monterrey, Nuevo León. 2016

Mentor: Dr. Marcelo Espinosa, PhD MA AAdrl MA UPC.

José Pablo Salinas Nolasco

This is the Community Development and Expression Center, an open place to ideas and opinions, a place designed for the community. In this proposal, architecture is the offer, in other words, the necessary concept to materialize and make these ideas function. There are concepts and formal processes that the proposal follows, but the base of all design is functionality. In this type of architecture is based this proposal. The way to achieve this is through a planning logic designed from its beginning. Where the project’s sequence follows a simple and unquestionable process. Through real parameters and not only subjective criteria like esthetics. This is how we obtain architecture. Which is shown in the spatial richness obtained as an implied result. This process begins with a grid, drawn equal to the trees planted on the site, this was the easiest way to give order to things. But to work in an architectural project this grid must be extruded in three dimensions, heights will depend on the physical context. The materiality will depend on the historic context. In a way, the grid represents the context, now we have a spatial order. On the other hand, we have the program, which became into volumes through a biographical research. But these volumes are not going to be placed by us, because it will not be objective and functional for everyone. We are just going to evaluate each space qualitatively through architectonic parameters, as it corresponds to us as professionals. The spatial positioning system will indicate us the specific position for each volume of the program within the tridimensional grid, according to the five parameters where we have evaluated each space. These are accessibility, orientation, centricity and acoustics. Each of these four are related to a programming system based on x, y and z coordinates. Plus, one extra parameter of connectivity which helped to stablish connections between spaces. Thereby the connection between the context and program is settled.
