The project uses the concept of “cracked soil”, that grows while inhabiting the territory focusing on shade, water, and vegetation to the Atacama desert landscape. Designed in 4 phases the project allows for flexibility to react to the housing and property market variations.
Focusing on the idea of “landmark” the project includes different water towers that would represent the areas of the project allowing them to be seen from long distances particularly at vehicular scale so drivers crossing the Panamericana highway would easily recognize the project. A park open to the public and car related services are the first attractors to this project.

Description
Funded by a Chilean government program called “Quiero Mi Barrio”, the project aims to recover a squatted site with restricted to no access to the community, bringing insecurity to the area. In collaboration with the local community, a soccer field, new multi-sports courts, parking area, a comfort station and a gathering space were required.
Due to budgetary restriction and site scale an extended metal and wood canopy was proposed around the building to scale it with the site, provide shade and extend the gathering space. Its positioning was the result of coordinating the various courts and parking requirements allowing also for a jogging circuit and kids playground.
