We came together to commemorate the launch of the Diabetes Education Center on this day along with representatives from Catholic Health and Good Samaritan University Hospital. Over 37.3 million individuals worldwide have been diagnosed with diabetes, making it a common disease in our communities.

On October 11, 2023, we all came together for a unique occasion celebrating Obdulio "Oby" De Leon's legacy. In Bay Shore, at the intersection of Stein Drive and Candlewood Road, as we renamed the street in his honor. We gathered to pay tribute to an extraordinary person who made a significant contribution to our community.

When asked to come to the Freshman Center in Brentwood to speak to our young scholars about the importance of education and what a great foundation it could, I did not miss this opportunity.

An excellent platform for discussing housing and tax issues as well as looking for solutions that would benefit all municipalities is the Long Island Smart Growth Summit. Supervisor Carpenter Councilmanelect Mike McElwee and I represented the City of Islip. 4th Quarter

With a 22-0 record and an amazing unblemished regular season, Brentwood faced Ward Melville to win the title of Suffolk County Triple-A Champions. Despite being down at the start, Brentwood came back to win the County Championship with three goals in the second half. Brentwood High proceeded to the Long Island Triple-A Championship, where they triumphed over East Meadow 4-0, the finest team in Nassau County. They secured a Long Island Championship for the first time since 2019 and have won ten in total for the school! Brentwood, however, didn't stop there. After winning the Long Island championship, they went to the New York State Triple-A Championship game, where they defeated Baldwinsville 2-1 to win the title of New York State Champions—their fifth NYS championship in school history—and maintain their perfect record.

The Brentwood High School Department of Performing Arts with the collaboration of Teatro Yerbabruja presented the classic Spanish play Lazarillo de Tormes. It was a magical night where our talented Hispanic students made the audience feel was at a Broadway play. The lights, the music, and moreover the acting was inspirational. Congratulations!

It has been an honor and a privilege to work beside two of our members, who sadly will be departing this year after effectively serving the maximum of three terms. Councilman John Cochrane and Town Clerk Olga H. Murray are those people. Each of them has collaborated with our board to enhance services and increase quality of life for our residents. They will be sincerely missed, and I wish you both the best of luck in all that you do.
