LEGISLATIVE ALERTS
The following are the most significant of the numerous resolutions that I have moved the council to adopt in support of District 1:
1) At the April 18th Town Board Meeting: a) I motioned the inducement resolution for the benefit of Water Lilies Food, LLC to acquire the property located at 250 Creative Drive, Central Islip for its expansion of operations. This expansion will create approximately three hundred (300) new jobs and an investment of $23 Million. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved. b) I seconded the resolution to authorize the Supervisor to accept a donation of 800 turkeys, turkey breasts, and/or hams and various grocery items, with a monetary value of approximately $20,000, by Islip Food for Hope, Inc. for the benefit of a Thanksgiving Basket Program for disadvantaged families to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday together. It was unanimously approved. c) I motioned the resolution to authorize the Supervisor to accept a donation of about 200 influenza vaccines from Catholic Health – Good Samaritan University Hospital for the benefit of our seniors at the annual Senior Health Fair. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved. d) I motioned the resolution to authorize the Supervisor to apply for and accept grant funding through Round XXI of the Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Program for the green infrastructure installation in improved municipal parking facility, updated Veterans Memorial Park, streetscape improvements of sidewalk and curbs, ADA compliant ramps, decorative lights, bike storage and repair stations for the benefit of residents and merchants of the Hamlet of Islip. It was seconded by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. e) I motioned the resolution to authorize the Town Clerk to advertise for a Public Hearing the to transfer property located at 29 Church St, Central Islip under the Town of Islip CDA’s Direct Sale Affordable Housing Program.

2) At the May 16th Town Board Meeting: a) I motioned the resolution to transfer the property located at 29 Church Street, Central Islip, under the Town CDA’s Direct Sale Affordable Housing Program to qualified and eligible buyers, namely Luis M. and Livia M. Cauro. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and approved unanimously. b) I motioned the adoption of the Inducement Resolution appointing AG -MRA 00 Rajon, LLC for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, and equipping the facility at 00 Rajon Road, Bayport. This represents an investment of $11 Million. It was seconded by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. c) I seconded the adoption of the Inducement Resolution appointing AG -MRA 33 Rajon, LLC for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, and equipping the facility at 33 Rajon Road, Bayport. This represents an investment of $33 Million. It was motioned by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. d) I seconded the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Town of Islip Economic Development Corporation to accept the New York State Economic Development Administration Tourism Partner Grant funding. This grant represents an award up to $400 K. It was motioned by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. e) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to enter into an agreement with Lyft, Inc. to provide ground transportation services at Long Island MacArthur Airport. This allows the customers a variety of ground transportation options to choose from. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved. f) I seconded the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to apply for and accept up to $80K of funding from the Suffolk County Office for the Aging for Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. It was motioned by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. g) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to execute a Commitment Letter to enter into a State Assistance Contract with NYSDEC; pursuant to which the Town of Islip will procure and administer construction contracts for the Projects, will pay 100% of the costs to complete the Projects. These Projects are to make additional permanent improvements to Roberto Clemente Park, including: (1) a new bathroom facility in the western/central area of the Park; (2) a refurbished basketball court; (3) a canopy/picnic area; and (4) an extended walkway through the park, all of which will be constructed, operated, and maintained by the Town in perpetuity (collective the Projects). The funds were procured after a favorable law suit of The Town of Islip Vs. Datre et Al. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved. h) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to execute a an Intermunicipal Agreement with a term of 20 years, authorizing Suffolk County to construct, install and operate an intermodal bus facility and related additions including but not necessarily limited to, lane striping, bus turnouts, bus shelters, electronic signage, and lighting on Town owned real property. It was seconded by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. i) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution appropriating the “Town of Islip for Supporting Nursing Employees”, in compliance with §206-c of the Labor Law. This resolution provides a reasonable unpaid/paid break time, a room or other location for lactating mothers for a period of up to 3 years after giving birth. It was seconded by Councilman Lorenzo and unanimously approved j) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the use of ARPA funds to perform annual Drainage Improvements town-wide. It was seconded by Councilman Lorenzo and unanimously approved.
3) At the June 13th Town Board Meeting: a) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution approving the acquisition, constructing, and equipping the facility at 00 Rajon Road, Bayport. This represents an investment of $11 Million. It was seconded by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved b) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution approving the acquisition, constructing, and equipping the facility at 33 Rajon Road, Bayport. This represents an investment of $33 Million. It was seconded by Councilman Cochran and unanimously approved. c) I seconded the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to accept the donation of various summer toys by the Brentwood Principals and Supervisors Organization for the Annual 2023 Summer and Splash Pool Party at Roberto Clemente Pool and Spray Park. Its monetary value will be determined. It was motioned by Supervisor Carpenter and unanimously approved. d) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to execute a professional agreement with Comply, Inc. for the administration of Alcohol and Drug Testing Services for all drivers who possess a Commercial Driver’s License and any testing for cause for all Town employees as per the collective Bargaining Agreements and Administrative Procedures Manual. Its monetary cost is of $15,000. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved. e) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to enter into various agreements for programs or events to be held throughout the Town. It was seconded by Councilman Lorenzo and unanimously approved. f) I motioned the adoption of the Resolution authorizing the Supervisor to execute any and all documentation related to the Lease Agreement between the Brentwood Water District and Suffolk County Water Authority for property located at 10 Carroll Street, Brentwood. It was seconded by Councilman O’Connor and unanimously approved.
Finally, I will continue to work on asserting that town-wide resources and assets are well maintained and funded, such as our Great South Bay, Long Island MacArthur Airport, water ways and aquifers, snow removal fleet, DPW, Public Safety, Compost Facility, and Town Hall, to mention a few.

Town of Islip Residential Repair Program for town residents ages 60 and older. The Residential Repair Program exists for Town of Islip senior residents who are no longer able to perform small repairs in their home. Any materials needed must be supplied by the senior. Labor is supplied by Town of Islip residential repair workers.
