Since it’s inception in 1952, our Chamber has prided itself in facilitating opportunities for our members to form strategic connections with others, so that we can all grow together. As the economic engine in our community continues to roar, The Chamber works diligently to carry out its mission to Promote and Sustain Economic Prosperity in Boca Raton and South Palm Beach County.

We deliver our mission through four strategic objectives, Connecting Members, Advancing Commerce, Protecting Business, and Enhancing the Community. The strategy of Connecting Members must go beyond traditional methods. Of course, our Chamber is proud to offer hundreds of ways to connect, through our annual events, monthly membership breakfasts, Live - After - Five networks, leads groups and unlimited marketing opportunities, but it doesn’t end there. Your Chamber is working for you whether you attend these events or not.

The Chamber fights for you as we help to elect pro-business candidates that will work to protect sustainable growth in our community. The Chamber connects you - literally - to other parts of our region and state through the overall support of the Brightline/ Virgin USA station in Boca Raton. I encourage you to read more about this initiative on page 22.

The Chamber connects new business to you when we organize and collaborate on month long promotions like Boca Restaurant Month, and The Chamber paves the way for you to gain referrals and visibility through our growing Social Networks.

Just this past August, we celebrated Boca Chamber Festival Days (BCFD). We facilitated 21 events that connected our for-profit Members with the nonprofit community to raise funds and awareness for their charitable causes. We had a record breaking number of attendees that participated in this year's BCFD events! To read more about this wicked awesome program, turn to page 8.

As our fiscal year swiftly approaches, we would like to thank our outgoing Chair of the Boca Chamber's Board of Directors, Susan Saturday for her service and dedication in driving the Boca Chamber forward. Join us at our Annual Chamber Gala, as we recognize and honor the outstanding leadership of our board and welcome our 2020 Chair, Michael Daszkal. Don’t miss out on this special night on October 26 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club! I encourage you to read more about our incoming Chairman, Michael Daszkal, on page 5.

Looking ahead to November, The Chamber’s Annual Holiday Party and Auction - one of the most popular events of the year - is on November 20, drawing hundreds of people for an evening of networking and fun competition for exciting auction items! This event will help to support the many successful programs at the Boca Chamber and will ensure the development of future programs.

Q: What are you looking forward to most in serving as Chairman?

A: I’ve been on the executive committee serving under several Chairs. First and foremost, we have a great strategy and we update it

annually. I plan to continue with what our excellent leadership has developed under the direction of our CEO, Troy McLellan. I am most excited about continuing and enhancing our strategy. It’s a big balance between the major organizations in the community, and the large number of small business members. I want to be able to provide the best networking, resources, and help the business community to prosper and succeed in Boca Raton and Greater South Palm Beach County. I hope to focus on connecting our members not only to the business community, but to organizations that are important to our way of life in Boca Raton, such as Charities, Schools, Government, and other stakeholders of our community. We have rich resources and the Chamber is central to information, communication, leadership, and making connections to tie us all together.

Q: Tell us the story of what led to your current success…

A: I have always planned on being an entrepreneur. It has been in my families' DNA.

I love business, accounting, advisory, and all things that make businesses run better, more efficiently, and more profitably. Every day I love what I do and strive to not only have a great business, but provide great value to our clients. Leading to my success, I started with picking a great partner who thought like I did. I hired and associated with people who are smart, motivated, hard working, and build a culture whereby our firm takes care of our people, our clients, and especially our community. For me, it’s always been about connections and networking to build our firm. It has been rewarding, and the relationships I have developed over the years, is the most satisfying part of my career. I want the chamber to be the go-to venue for businesses to make connections and better the businesses and families of our community.

Q: What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

A: I am excited every day to work with amazing people, amazing clients, and people I love to be with.

My schedule is packed with calls and meetings and I never have dull days! Being in a position where I support many wonderful families and help so many business owners is highly motivating for me. I truly care about what I do, and it gives me energy to work hard and succeed. I’m also blessed with a great family who has supported me from the beginning.

Q: What can you say to be true about the power of connections?

A: In my field of work, it’s ALL about connections. Not a day goes by, that a client does not ask for a referral in the legal, banking, investment

advisory, insurance and almost any other field of goods or services. My connections that I have developed for over 32 years in Boca Raton and the Tri-county area, are the lifeblood of what I do as a managing partner of a CPA and financial advisory firm. The connections help drive clients to our business as much as it helps the business community get to the right place and have successful results. Those connections over the years have become close friends, close business alliances, and relationships that have lasted many years. The Boca Chamber has been integral for many relationships in the 20+ years our firm has been involved. At the Trustee and Board level, it has succeeded tremendously.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as Chair of the Boca Chamber?

What do you hope we can achieve together?

A: I hope to continue serving our stakeholders - our four primary initiatives are to 1) Connect members to help grow companies, 2) Advance

commerce through our programs, 3) Protect business through legislation and policy, and lastly, 4) Enhance community (CAPE). I want to make sure small, medium, large businesses, and stakeholders are working together to achieve these objectives. I will challenge the status quo of Chamber programming, policy, political connections, and ask the right questions. The key will be to leverage the knowledge of our Board, which is amazingly talented, intelligent, and connected along with our CEO, Senior Vice President and a very strong Chamber staff. Troy and his group do a tremendous amount of work with a small targeted staff that are efficient and work very hard.

LEADERS WHO SERVE The Leadership Boca Class of 2019 has selected Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County as their class project. On Saturday, October 5th, the class reunited at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church to take part in Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization program, providing transformational exterior painting and landscaping for the historic Boca Raton church.

A LETTER FROM THE CHAIR I am delighted and thrilled to be serving as Chair of the Leadership Boca Class of 2020! I had the pleasure of participating in the program in 2018 and Co-Chairing the Class of 2019. It has been an amazing way by which to learn about the surrounding Boca Raton community and all it offers.

Each year, Leadership Boca’s participants embark on its mission of elevating the awareness and knowledge of civic-minded individuals regarding local issues that drive the economy, education, and overall success of the community.

Former Leadership Boca graduates forged meaningful, lasting relationships with local business leaders, city officials, volunteers and most importantly, each other. All of this is done in the interest of taking action to continually improve our wonderful community.

As one, we got involved in charitable causes, like the Habitat for Humanity and the YMCA, with a devotion to making a difference in the lives of individuals served by these and other fine local organizations. I, along with my Co-Chair, Mikesha Murray of TD Bank look forward to another exhilarating year with the new leaders involved in Leadership Boca 2020.

We will meet and engage with experts in the fields of economic development, health services, human services, education, environmental awareness, media, government, culture, tourism and more. This broad exposure to the great city of Boca Raton provides an unparalleled experience to leaders.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy Student Criteria for the YEA! Program The Boca Chamber Education Foundation’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a program of the Golden Bell Education Foundation. YEA! is for students in grades six through twelve who have demonstrated creativity, innovative ideas, academic effort, determination, enthusiasm, the ability to communicate, and a commitment to their community and family. The 2019-20 class marks the 9th year of YEA! Boca Chamber.

We’ve had several success stories in the history of our program. In fact, one of our past winners – Rachel Zietz – the Founder and CEO of the now multimillion-dollar Gladiator Lacrosse company – was just featured in Teen Boss Magazine! Pick up your copy at Barnes & Noble today.

SUCCESS STORIES 1st Place Winner Rhea Jain, Renoosh

Rhea, a senior at Pine Crest School, is a budding fashion entrepreneur. Being petite, she realized that she was paying more to get clothes altered than the actual cost of the clothing. With this dilemma, she created her own petite clothing line that not only fits smaller statures, but also fits the different shapes of petite women everywhere.

Neil Sachdeva, Vulcan AI

Neil, a junior at Pine Crest School, is a very tech savvy student. His dedication and love for coding has led him to create a chat bot for small business owners. His awareness of online communication needs and the high cost to implement these services, propelled him to provide a chat bot service at a much lower cost.

3rd Place

Jameson Burmeister, Infiniband

Jameson, a senior at Boca Raton High School, created something innovative that would save money for parents everywhere. His idea of a perforated bandage would help save time for a traveling parent of an active child. Cameron, a sophomore at Saint Andrews, knows what it means to love his family and help support them. Because of a family member, this growing social entrepreneur is creating an online website of therapeutic resources for children and families that deal with autism. He plans for his website to not only be a one-stop shop for autism information, but a portal to autism specialists ready to help families.

GOLDEN BELL The Boca Chamber's Education Foundation The Boca Chamber’s Golden Bell Education Foundation (Golden Bell) is in its 28th year of operation. The Golden Bell is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that was created for the sole purpose of supporting the Boca Raton Public School System, grades K-12. Founded by the Chamber’s Board of Directors, the Foundation funds educational programs that promote business skills.

On Thursday, September 12th, we hosted our annual Golden Bell Membership Breakfast. A huge thank you to our sponsor Bluegreen Vacations Corporation, and all of the wonderful principals, teachers and staff at Boca Raton public schools. We are thrilled to have given over $100,000K in Golden Bell Education Foundation grants to Boca Public Schools grades K-12.
