Moving Business Forward 2020.indd 2-3
From the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the Boca Chamber immediately realized that it would play a crucial role in Moving Business Forward through unprecedented times. We pivoted quickly, and redefined our business model to serve our more than 1,700 members - and the business community at large - to deliver on all four of our guiding pillars: Connecting Members, Advancing Commerce, Protecting Business and Enhancing our Community. Working diligently, tirelessly and around the clock in a rapidly changing environment, we refocused and prioritized our team’s efforts. The first order of business was to personally reach out to each one of our members in what we called our H.E.L.P. (Help. Educate. Listen with Passion.) Campaign. I’m proud to say that we achieved that goal in two short weeks. The second order of business was to become operational on a virtual basis so we could provide opportunities to connect the business community and provide a safe and convenient forum to deliver the vast amount of critical information needed to sustain through the crisis. We made that adjustment on March 17th, and to date have delivered more than 110 virtual experiences with nearly 3,000 attendees. The future of our large in-person events is still uncertain at this time, but I am happy that we will hold our 50th annual Chamber Golf Classic on July 31st.
President & CEO Troy McLellan
"We're in this together, and together is how we'll get through it".
Our next order of business was the launch of our Moving Business Forward initiative. A multifaceted promotional and advocacy strategy, this initiative included using email and social media outreach campaigns to promote those industries most affected by the crisis. Through a daily updating process with our Support our Local Restaurants Campaign, we promoted our local restaurants through weekly e-blast and robust social media activity to ensure the community knew which restaurants were open for takeout and delivery business. In addition, the Chamber worked with our elected leaders to help ease restrictions on sign ordinances within the cities of Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. This allowed restaurants in both cities the ability to use A-Frame signs and other methods of advertising to promote their business. In a joint effort with the City of Boca Raton, its leaders approved an Emergency Small Business Recovery Relief Grant Program for businesses within the City of Boca Raton. This program allocated $500,000 to help small businesses who had been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. In an effort to help our non-profit community, we launched our Did You Know Campaign. Through the same electronic and social media effort, we highlighted three non-profit Chamber members per week and included their mission statements and ways they can be supported. All of this activity - AND MORE - is still occurring! Challenging times test us in ways we cannot anticipate. The coronavirus pandemic has tested us – again and again and again. Thanks to the amazing leaders who serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors, under the direction of Chairman Michael Daszkal, we have held our ground in this battle. In addition, the Chamber professional team has been – as I like to say – wicked awesome! Working alongside these talented Chamber industry professionals is a privilege and our business community is very fortunate to have them. It is this collective group of dedicated and passionate professionals that will Move Business Forward and continue to help make South Palm Beach County the best place to live, work, learn and play! We're in this together, and together is how we'll get through it!

- Business Leaders United for Boca Raton Political Action Committee (BLU-PAC) and Chamber staff use this Legislative Agenda as a tool to advocate for pro-business legislation at the federal, state and local government levels. They advocate on your behalf in meetings with elected officials and their staff from Congress, our states’ Executive and Legislative branches, the Boca Raton City Council, and the Palm Beach County Commission. INFLUENCE: CREATE A PRO-BUSINESS ENVIORNMENT Unwarranted government interference and regulatory burdens could mean the difference between your business being profitable and your doors being closed. You rely on your Chamber to be active in the legislative and political process, identifying, tracking, and speaking out in support of pro-business issues, and even more importantly, against measures that might impede economic growth opportunity. The most effective way to protect your business is to elect those candidates who are not only in alignment with the issues in our Legislative Agenda, but will fight for those issues on your behalf.
Gina Harwood Realtor, MBA, PSA
At the heart of this initiative is the Boca Chamber’s political action committee, BLU-PAC. BLU-PAC’s mission is to deeply vet each candidate and their intentions as they relate to the Legislative Agenda, something business owners like you don’t have the time or resources to do for yourself. BLU-PAC utilizes candidate questionnaires, extensive live interviews, as well as political and demographic research to select candidates for endorsement, contribute BLU-PAC funds to their campaigns, and assist them throughout the election cycle. You can be confident that a BLU-PAC endorsed candidate is one who will fight for issues which could directly impact your business’s prosperity.

Although BLU-PAC operates independently of the Boca Chamber, it is incorporated as a legal body by the State of Florida, and has its own Board of Directors and By-laws, it is the political arm of the Chamber. As a rule, strength in numbers is the principle behind an organization like BLU-PAC. Together, we can have a greater impact! ACCOUNTABILITY: ENSURING SOUND POLICY DECISIONS With our Legislative Agenda in-hand, Chamber staff regularly attends City Council and County Commission meetings and workshops on the local level. In addition, they track our issues as they move through the State Legislature and meet with elected officials in both Tallahassee and their district offices locally. Your Chamber and its partnership with BLU-PAC makes lawmakers acutely aware of the needs of the business community and gives business owners a loud, collective voice in the affairs of government.
Exercise Your Right to Vote on August 18th! Our elected leaders play a critical role in determining the future direction of South Palm Beach County. Our Regions success is critically dependent on infrastructure development, quality education, regional cooperation and integration.
Here for each other. Here is where we are committed to building personal relationships, meeting individual needs and supporting the communities we serve. We’re here for you and your business. 1-888-SYNOVUS | synovus.com

These endorsed candidates are the RIGHT LEADERS. They are prepared to move forward and work with all of us to ensure that the citizens of South Palm Beach County are well-positioned for job growth and economic prosperity. About BLU-PAC: Governed by an independent Board of Directors, Business Leaders United for Boca Raton Political Action Committee (BLU-PAC) exists to endorse, support, and fund candidates who are in alignment with the Business Community's views and priorities. In order to ensure South Palm Beach County maintains a pro-business environment, BLU-PAC endorses only candidates who understand, and wish to support, the needs and demands on what it takes to operate a successful business. SBA COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION IS PARTNERING WITH BOCA RATON REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN SUPPORT OF A HEALTHIER WORKFORCE FOR THEIR ORGANIZATION WITH NEW WELLNESS INITIATIVES The wellness initiative gained momentum recently at a meeting featuring corporate leaders on a Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation volunteer committee. The purpose of the get-together was to help engage the local business community and to formally introduce Lincoln Mendez, Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s CEO. During the meeting there was a wide-ranging discussion about the history and future of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital, what it has meant to the business community, what the business community needs from the Hospital and the differences between individual philanthropy and corporate philanthropy. Recently, SBA rolled out the new Corporate Wellness Program with its exclusive Corporate Wellness Partner, Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The arrangement, the first of this kind between the hospital and a large local company, encompasses a variety of services, including on-site and off-site doctor’s appointments, blood pressure checks and blood screenings, mobile mammograms, yoga, meditation and mental health services, nutrition, lectures and other services many of which are available to SBA’s entire 1500-person workforce by video. SBA additionally made a gift of $1 million to support Keeping the Promise…The Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital, to support the current and future needs of the hospital so it can continue to deliver quality healthcare to the community.

FAU MAKES THOUSANDS OF FACE SHIELDS FOR BAPTIST HEALTH SOUTH FLORIDA With major shortfalls of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers around the world, a team from Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science and Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems (I-SENSE), one of the university’s four research pillars, have identified a simple solution to rapidly produce protective face shields for Baptist Health South Florida, the largest health care organization in the region with 11 hospitals, including Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Leaders from Baptist Health South Florida approached FAU leadership to help them ramp up their acquisition of PPEs for their health care force, which includes approximately 23,000 employees, more than 4,000 physicians and more than 100 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities and physician practices spanning across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The FAU team answered the call for innovation with expediency creating a prototype within an hour. They have since enhanced the prototype, which is meant to be worn over facemasks to provide additional protection from droplets from coughs and sneezes. Face shields are designated as class I medical devices by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The FAU team re-tooled their facilities to leverage the opportunity to make face shields much faster than are currently being manufactured and they plan to share the blueprint for this PPE broadly with other academic institutions as well as industry. CROCKER PARTNERS TO OFFER YMCA READY TO WORK SUMMER CAMP ON-SITE AT BOCA RATON INNOVATION CAMPUS Crocker Partners has donated 5,000 square feet of space at their Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC) to the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. The space will be used for a Ready to Work Summer Camp being offered to BRiC's 36 tenant companies and roughly 5,000 employees as they return to campus following the lifting of state and county stay-at-home orders. The YMCA's Summer Camp program will be offered Monday thru Friday, 7:30AM – 6:00PM beginning June 15 and August 7 for children ages five through 12 at 4920 Conference Way North. Crocker Partners is also evaluating availabilities at other properties across its 11 million square foot portfolio for future YMCA programs. The summer camp will adhere to state, county and Federal guidelines and take extra safety precautions to minimize risk. For more information on the program, contact the YMCA of South Palm Beach County at 561-395-9622. 10| Connection Magazine

PLATINUM
Established in 1991, Golden Bell has granted $1.7 Million since its inception, and has impacted 800,000 students in grades K-12. Each year, all Boca Raton public schools are invited to submit applications for a Golden Bell grant. The grant cycle, usually open from February to April, was extended to May due to the challenge of school shutdowns from COVID-19 and teachers making adjustments. We are pleased to announce that this year we awarded 46 grants totaling over $105,000 to Boca Raton public schools and scholarship programs in 2020!

BOYNTON BEACH
MOVING BUSINESS FORWARD IN BOYNTON BEACH Over the past several years, The City of Boynton Beach has become known as a business–friendly city. It is ideal for new development and entrepreneurs seeking to start new businesses with expedited permitting, supportive development services department, and multiple grant opportunities for businesses within the Community Redevelopment. Boynton Beach led the way from the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the second city within Palm Beach County and the only municipality in the county to offer four small business emergency loan programs and the first city within the county to make the loans forgivable, after those loans met the required criteria.
Have Something to Celebrate?
We will bring the giant scissors and get the word out!
Working in concert with the business community the city eased restrictions on signage for restaurants and retail. As the county transitioned into Phase One, the city further relaxed restrictions and allowed Contact our Membership Development restaurants and retail to use portions of city roads and parking spaces to accommodate additional business. at (561) 561 - 4433 Ext. 236
Team
More recently, Boynton Beach has also worked with CareerSource Palm Beach County, using federal resources to help fund temporary positions to help support Covid-19 related tasks and help unemployed city residents obtain jobs. In January, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of Boynton and Boca becoming one Chamber. For the past year we have seen an increase in attendance and new members in our Boynton market. Most recently we have had highly successful programs such as; Cyber Chat with Lori LaVerriere, Government Affairs meetings with County Commissioner Mack Bernard and Boynton Beach Vice Mayor Ty Penserga as well as Lunch and Learn speakers including; Lewis Fogel, Troy McLellan, and Rob Jager. The current pandemic has reinforced what we already knew about the Boynton and Boca merger; stronger together! Together, we showed what a united voice and powerhouse of resources and Johnson, Ritchey & Feldman, P.A. information could do for the business 2424 N Federal Highway Ste 166community of Boynton and Boca.
