Enhancing Community By Investing In Our Future

F

or nearly 75 years, the Boca Chamber has spearheaded efforts to enhance the overall quality of life in Boca Raton and South Palm Beach County. By connecting our member businesses with valuable networks and partnerships, advancing commerce through resources and training, and protecting business through thoughtful and deliberate advocacy, and Enhancing Community - we are able to deliver on our mission of ensuring economic prosperity. In more ways than one, our fourth core pillar - Enhancing Community - is the pinnacle of what your Chamber stands for.

One does not need to look further than our robust business culture, powerful entrepreneurial ecosystem, exceptional educational institutions, world-class healthcare, pristine beaches, and parks – and so much more - for tangible evidence. Although our asset-rich region reflects economic success, complacency is never an option. Enhancing Community is a long-haul effort, with potential for improvement at every level. Longevity has long been a measure of success in the business world. The Boca Chamber is proud to count a number of corporations and stakeholders in our membership who are celebrating milestone anniversaries. We celebrate ADT Inc., now in its 150th year since inception, with 27 headquartered in Boca Raton. NCCI Holdings Inc., the nation’s most comprehensive source for workers' compensation data recently commemorated their 100th anniversary. Palm Beach State College, an honored institution of education and professional development, marks its 90th year. The Boca Raton Airport Authority, with its rich tradition of first-class flight, celebrates its 75th year. Boca Helping Hands, a cherished non-profit committed to assisting underserved residents, commemorates its 25th anniversary. The many entities that proudly call Boca Raton home are strengthening our community by creating countless jobs, investing in our regional economy, and contributing to organizational efforts that bolster our quality of life. Fostering a highly skilled future workforce is a critical component of the Chamber’s mission towards Enhancing Community. For over 30 years, we have supported Boca Raton Public Schools through our very own charitable non-profit organization: The Golden Bell Education Foundation. Through many years of growth and momentum, Golden Bell has provided $2 million in grants that have helped thousands of students. These grants provide beneficial programming in the areas of career awareness, career exploration, and career preparation. Our fan-favorite fundraiser, the Truist Golden Bell Battle of the Bands, took place on September 30th at Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC), and we couldn’t be prouder of our amateur bands: CAT4, Eye Candy, No Filter, and Yah Ma Toe! These business professionals embarked on the ultimate challenge of transforming into rock stars with help from our partner, The School of Rock in Boca Raton. By taking the stage and competing for your applause, they helped us raise funds to award more education grants in 2024. You’ll learn more about the Golden Bell Battle of the Bands and The Golden Bell Education Foundation on pages 12 and 13.

"Investing in our region’s future and empowering organizations and institutions that do the same is our capstone for Enhancing Community.”

It doesn’t stop there! As part of Golden Bell's outreach, the school-year-long Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Program transforms middle and high school students into entrepreneurs by pairing them with business owners and community leaders as their mentors. By investing in our youth and their education, we enhance our community by encouraging students to pursue a competitive edge. For insights on the YEA! Program, turn to page 14. The Chamber recognizes the importance of supporting the critical missions of our non-profit organizations and the role they play in Enhancing Community. We support this goal through Boca Chamber Festival Days (BCFD). Now in its 46th year of celebrating philanthropic engagement, BCFD was founded in the spirit of non-profit and for-profit collaboration during the month of August. We partner our members to promote exciting events that bring much-needed awareness and funding to charitable efforts. This year, our non-profits raised over $130,000 to support their initiatives! For more information on BCFD, see page 15. It can be said that the goal of any economic endeavor is ultimately an exceptional (and enviable!) quality of life. Investing in our region’s future and empowering organizations and institutions that do the same is our capstone for Enhancing Community.

Moving Business Forward,

Troy M. McLellan, CCE, FCCP, President & CEO, Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce

SPECIAL REPORT

FROM AMPS TO ACADEMICS:

THE TRIUMPH OF THE GOLDEN BELL BATTLE OF THE BANDS

I

n an electrifying display of musical talent and unwavering community spirit, Season 5 of the Truist Golden Bell Battle of the Bands came to a thunderous conclusion on Saturday, September 30th at Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC).

This beloved annual fundraiser to benefit the Golden Bell Education Foundation and proudly rocked by Truist, witnessed four extraordinary amateur rock bands: CAT4, Eye Candy, No Filter, and Yah Ma Toe, vie for glory while raising funds for a crucial cause: The academic success of our local public schools! This year, the stage was set at the heart of Boca Raton, where business professionals traded in their suits and laptops for amps and instruments throughout a grueling, months-long training and rehearsal process at The School of Rock in Boca Raton. Each note struck and every lyric sung reverberated with a common purpose - to further the mission of the Golden Bell Education Foundation, a 501c(3) non-profit organization passionately committed to enhancing public school education grants in our community. You maybe asking yourself, why a rock concert? The story was a lesson in trial and growth. “Around 6 years ago, Chasity Navarro suggested an idea [for Golden Bell Battle of the Bands] and it has been a huge success ever since. It is now The Golden Bell Education Foundation’s largest fundraising event, and just keeps getting bigger and better every year!”, says Chuck Stout, Executive Vice President of Employee Benefits at CBIZ, and Chairman of Golden Bell’s Board of Directors. Season 5 of Truist Golden Bell Battle of the Bands brought together not only aspiring rock stars but also an enthusiastic (and enormous!) audience, all united by the same goal: to provide exceptional educational opportunities for our future leaders! After an exhilarating night of performances by competing bands, alumni from past seasons, and The School of Rock, the spirit of the ‘90s was in full-force.

Although all four bands won over the audience’s raucous applause, the judges were assigned the difficult task of selecting a winner. After careful deliberation, they announced the winner of Season 5’s Truist Golden Bell Battle of the Bands: CAT4! CAT4's lineup featured Dan Nathanson of the Nathanson Brothers Real Estate Team, Kevin Ives of the Waterstone Resort & Marina, Damian England of NCCI Holdings Inc., Adam Baron of Delray Beach Open, and was managed by Brianna Silva of Peter Blum Family YMCA. They won over the judges by putting an exciting twist on the classic “Song 2” by Blur! With their dynamic rhythm and captivating stage presence, Eye Candy knocked it out of the park with their rendition of the song “Celebrity Skin” by Hole. Eye Candy’s lineup consisted of Joan Joens of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, Jon Stormont of Hawk-Eye Management Inc., Clayton Idle of Tortoise Properties, Michael Delose of Florida Peninsula Insurance, Wendy Elliot of Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and was managed by Debbie Levine of the Boca Raton Police Foundation. No Filter rallied the audience with their feisty sound and unforgettable lyrics, leaving a lasting impression after performing the song “Just A Girl” by No Doubt. No Filter consisted of Alana St. John of Spirit of Giving Network, Karly Parsons of Baptist Health of South Florida, Brian Friedman of Pillar Group, Douglas Rudman of The Rudman Law Group, and was managed by Stephanie Hicks of the Wyndham Boca Raton Hotel. Last (but certainly not least) was Yah Ma Toe, performing the popular song “You Ought To Know” by Alanis Morissette! They captured hearts with their infectious enthusiasm and a crowd-pleasing performance that had many singing along to the lyrics. Yah Ma Toe’s lineup consisted of Susy Boschetti of SALT Academy, Heather Ronan of Lavalle, Brown & Ronan, Hunter Brockway of Boca Retirement Strategies, Mark Murrison of Signature MD, Matt Blank of FastSigns Coral Springs, and was managed by Jessica Gonzalez of Broken Sound Club.

llegiance Home Health returned as our sponsor, with Rosie Inguanzo-Martin serving as Chair. This year, we introduced a dedicated committee and extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mandy Forrester, Dan Nathanson, Lynn Lessell, and Debbie Levine for their invaluable contributions. In the spirit of fun and exposure, we even took our beloved flamingo mascot and his friends, and "flocked" 12 local businesses.

The 2023 Boca Chamber Festival Days have come and gone, leaving the Boca Chamber staff and our members with lasting smiles as we reflect on the positive impact we've made within our community! For those interested in learning more or securing a spot for your event in the upcoming year, please get in touch with Alison Miuccio, Membership Development Manager, at amiuccio@bocachamber.com or call 561-395-4433, ext. 236.

This year, we hosted an impressive lineup of twenty-eight events involving twenty-six non-profit organizations, with a corresponding double in sponsors and event supporters. Among the highlights were several new events, standing proudly alongside the cherished traditions of our heritage events. It's worth noting that some events were so popular that they sold out quickly, prompting us to begin reserving dates for 2024. Our community enjoyed bowling, dancing, watching amazing local talent, beer tasting and even a fashion show to mention just a few. Over $130,000 was raised in August for these non-profits which will help them achieve their current and future goals! Boca Chamber Festival Days is generously sponsored by:
