FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Connecting Members for Seven Decades I hope you and your family had a joyous and prosperous holiday season. As we begin the first quarter of this new year, we are prepared to tackle any new challenges that may come before us and achieve our stated mission of economic prosperity. The Chamber is excited to work alongside you, our business members, to create a stronger economy and connect you to all the resources and opportunities to achieve your objectives in 2022. For seventy years, the Chamber has been Connecting Members to each other and to the Boca Raton business community for the purpose of ensuring the success of all businesses large and small. This year will mark the fourth year of our merger with the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce, expanding our community to include Boynton Beach and all of South Palm Beach County. Delivering on one of the Chamber’s four core pillars, Connecting Members, the Chamber provides over three hundred networking opportunities for you to connect – whether it be with a small business owner, or the Chief Executive Officer of a major employer. One of the most convenient ways to engage with the Chamber is through the Boca Chamber App, which can be found on the Apple and Google play stores. At the tip of your fingers, you can engage with the Chamber while also receiving notifications of important Chamber, County, City of Boca Raton, and City of Boynton Beach information. With an extensive menu of opportunities to choose from, connecting with the Boca Chamber can be as simple as you want it to be.
President & CEO Troy M. McLellan
“For seventy years, the Chamber has been Connecting Members to each other and to the Boca Raton business community…”
Jackie Reeves, Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, and serial volunteer, is the Ultimate Connector. She is known for having a finger on the pulse of the business community in Boca Raton and South Palm Beach County. Jackie’s servant-leadership, dedication to our community, along with her ability to connect are some of the many reasons she is featured on the cover of our Connection Magazine. To learn more about Madam Chair, turn to page 12. Each year, Chamber members apply for a coveted spot in our Leadership Boca program. During this four-month experience, participants are given an in-depth and behind the scenes look at the many facets that make our community operate. Acquaintances to each other in the beginning, these members gain valuable professional and personal connections to one another during this program. In addition to these long-lasting relationships, the participants gain a one-of-a-kind education during the themed days that include economic development, hospitality, education, and public safety. Each graduating class of Leadership Boca makes a difference in the community by creating an end of the year project. The leadership class of 2021 was no different, connecting with our local Boca Raton Police Foundation. Turn to page 6 to read about this impactful project. Today, connecting members means more than the traditional networking opportunities and business introductions. It means being the resource for essential business news and advocating for issues that impact you, our member. In order to ensure pro-business policy, we work hard to elect business-minded officials representing us at the State, County and Local levels. Engaging the Business Leaders United Political Action Committee (BLU-PAC) for only the second time in Boynton Beach’s municipal election process, the BLU-PAC Board has made endorsements it believes are the RIGHT LEADERS to move Boynton Beach forward for important job growth and economic prosperity. To see the endorsed candidates for the Boynton Beach municipal election, turn to page 21. Your Chamber, and its team of dedicated professionals, stand ready to help you make the connections you need to help your business succeed. With over 100 years of combined Chamber experience – our professional team is here to connect you to your next opportunity! Together we continue to be the connector and catalyst to Move Business Forward in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and all of South Palm Beach County, making our region the best place to Live, Work, Learn and Play.

Spotlight
The Ultimate Connector We had the great pleasure of interviewing a dynamic woman who does it all! She is the 2013 DIAMOND Award recipient, President of the Leadership Boca Class of 2011, the 2010 Boca Chamber Chairman's Award recipient, serves as President of the Spirit of Giving Network and the incoming Chair of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. She is a mother, wife, and The Ultimate Connector! Jackie Reeves, Chair of the Boca Chamber and Managing Director of Bell Rock Capital shares her inspiring advice and insight. Tell us the story of what led to your current success. This is tough as there are so many people in my story that drive success. To be clear, my definition of success includes the setbacks, the humbling experiences, as well as the high-five celebrations. Early on I had some incredible teachers that helped me begin to identify my passions and strengths. As I began my career, my blind ignorance of the typical ladder of success eliminated all roadblocks. I was the Director of Research of a broker/dealer by age 32 and it was not even in my initial thoughts. There are so many people that help support, listen, and encourage me and I am truly thankful that they are in my life! I have had a few key bosses that really helped me grow and realize my next level of growth. My husband, my family, and my friends are my core crew. What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? The motivation that I feel every day is very exciting. When I was still attending undergrad, I remember wishing that I would find that something. My big picture was to find a career in which I lived and breathed it, so that my personal life and work would be one. I also wanted to travel. The specific field was wide open, at the time. The core of my motivation is research and it dates to my high school days and at Brookhaven Lab on Long Island. That exciting research led me to genetic-nuclear engineering studies and ultimately, to Wall Street! I spent the first 12| Connection Magazine

portion of my career conducting institutional equity research in the financial services sector in NYC at firms such as Citigroup and Credit Suisse-First Boston. And travel was a huge component of my monthly schedule. Research gets me out of bed. I love it! I do it every day and I get to share it. What can you say to be true about the power of connections? I have been humbled by the sheer power of connections. As I shifted to different companies throughout my career, the new positions were driven by my clients. On Wall Street, the big firms would ask their clients who they should hire, and I built strong, real relationships with my companies and they, essentially, recommended my promotions. During my career and my Boca Chamber experience, I thoroughly enjoy introducing people and helping people find synergies to leverage their success. Connections magnify your exposure, magnify your brand, and ultimately magnify your success.
THE ULTIMATE CONNECTOR
You are connected to so many in the community, as a professional, a volunteer, a resident, and a mother. How do you decide how and where to invest your time? I am a mom and yes, very involved in our community as a volunteer and businesswoman. I do try to keep things simple, especially when the responsibilities and calendars get over extended. Pre-covid, I will admit, my crazy packed calendar seemed ok, but in hindsight it was too much. There is still a full calendar, and my north star is family, followed by my career, and then volunteering. At times, it may not seem as this is the order, however, it is my intention. Networking plays an important role in our careers. Some struggle with how to do it. What are your three key principles of how to be a more effective networker? I am not joking when I say that I learned how to network through the Boca Chamber. Because research is my thing, I gravitated to networking by getting to know others. I am truly interested in what others like to do and why they get out of bed in the morning. For me, networking is about helping others and sharing your story. Some guiding principles would include to be genuine and be present by listening to others. Share your story, rather than what you do. Share your why! The friendships that I have developed while learning to network and volunteering in our community are incredible. What are you looking forward to most in serving as Chair of the Boca Chamber? I am looking forward to serving this Chamber by being a driving force and building on the legacy of leaders who have served as Chair for the past several decades. I am looking forward to connecting Chamber Board members to more members throughout our community and to learning and listening to members needs.
From Left to Right: Stephanie Hicks, Roxana Scaffidi, Jackie Reeves & Debbie Levine
The board has been remote for quite a while so, reengaging in-person will help us reconnect and continue to build our strategies. What else can the board members do to help our businesses grow and develop? What have we learned through the pandemic that we can collectively apply to build a better future? What do you hope to achieve as Chair of the Boca Chamber? I am a past Ambassador, leads group member, Leadership Boca chair, and past Battle of the Bands member. I think this perspective brings different opportunities. I hope to achieve an even stronger business community. We are blessed to be in a very business friendly state and business friendly area as a plethora of strong businesses call Boca and the surrounding area their home. I want to encourage our business and community leaders, employees and students to do more. Let’s ask: • What can we all do to provide internships and training to aspiring talent? • How can we brainstorm with the universities to develop curriculum for the careers that our businesses require today and in the future? • How can we advocate for the incredible business opportunities that are right here in our backyard?
The Stilettos from the 2019 Golden Bell Battle of the Bands

GOLDEN BELL EDUCATION FOUNDATION The Boca Chamber’s Golden Bell Education Foundation (Golden Bell) is celebrating its 31st year of operation! As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, it exists for the sole purpose of supporting the Boca Raton public school system and administering educational programs that promote business skills and workforce readiness. Established in 1991, Golden Bell has granted over $1.8 Million since its inception, and has impacted over 800,000 students in grades K-12. This would not be possible without those who generously donate; partners, sponsors, and individual donors have helped us continue making our schools in Boca Raton A-rated, and our Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!)students, our future leaders. Golden Bells biggest fundraiser is the annual Battle of the Bands competition where local business professionals, who have little to no musical background, turn themselves into rock stars as they help raise money for the public schools of Boca Raton. Despite a challenging year with the pandemic, the Golden Bell Education Foundation was successfully able to raise over $50,000 through the Battle of the Bands. These funds will go a long way in supporting the much-needed programs for our schools! In 2021, we awarded 46 grants totaling over $100,000 to Boca Raton public schools and scholarship programs! “2021 GOLDEN BELL GRANTEES” A.D. Festival Boca is LIVE AGAIN! Festival of the Arts BOCA was designed to promote the cultural arts and to enrich the quality of life of the residents of Palm Beach County. The Festival is special, because of the venue, the season, the quality and diversity of its cultural offerings and because of the opportunity for young and old to celebrate the traditions of the great arts and to be exposed to the incredible diversity of the performing and literary arts, at the highest levels. Since its inaugural year, the Festival has been an unprecedented cultural arts festival, and has been heralded as a resounding success. An exciting lineup of performances and talks is on tap for 2022, with all events to be held in Mizner Park Ampitheater, with new, socially-distanced seating arrangements.
The courts at the historic downtown tennis center have been both a launching pad for stardom and a place for the game’s elite to raise the trophy. Recent Delray Beach champions include former US Open winners Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro, Grand Slam finalists Kei Nishikori and Kevin Anderson, Americans Sam Querrey, Jack Sockand Frances Tiafoe and hometown hero Reilly Opelka.
