About the Creator My name is Jordaine Green and I am the Technical Director of Football at the Papine High School. My main purpose is to supervise facility management, funding, human resources and policy adherence of the school’s football program. I enjoy coming up with ideas on how to improve each sector of the school’s program and finding solutions for problems. I have been described by my fellow workers as proactive, driven, resourceful and never gives up when facing difficulties. “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life” – Confucius. This has been my philosophy from I was a high school student and this is why I excel so much at my job.

I have been in the sport industry for the last fifteen years and Director of Football at Papine High School for six years. My last major project was in 2019 when I was recruited to be a part of the team to oversee the construction of an artificial turf at the JFF headquarters.

Project Description The quality of the football match was tremendously poor as players continuously tripped over themselves or the football constantly went astray because of bumps on the field. This resulted in talented football players playing in a way that resembled players way below their skill level. This project also ties into the plan of developing Jamaica’s football beyond its current capabilities. The goal of this project is to improve the development of football in Jamaica with the construction of two state of the art artificial football fields. Some objectives of this project include: 1. To construct a high-performance playing field for footballers by the end of March 2023.

2. To ensure high standards of environmental safety is maintained throughout the project .

The beneficiaries of this project includes the high school footballers, the school and also professional footballers who will use the facility

Research . Research was done on things such as: •Laws and regulations – The requirements for building sport facilities are regulated by the Building Act of 2018.

•Sports facilities planners – Expert planners and landscape architects offers support in planning and developing a new sports facility. They are important as they know all the essential rules of the international sports federation (F.I.F.A).

•Feasibility – This study was done to ensure all requirements will be met. It includes an assessment of the property, estimated cost of construction, client’s requirement analysis and technical evaluation of the construction methods that correlates to the client’s requirements.

•Size of a football pitch – Based on specifications from the governing body, standard size for a football field is 105m x 68m.

•Irrigation systems – The water gives the playing surface the required qualities for a quick and precise game.

•The right artificial grass – An elastic base layer is best for football as it guarantees long term properties when it comes to shock absorption.

Color studies Before settling on the colors i used in this book, I tried other colors that i believed would fit what i was trying to convey. Colors such as green which is associated with the fields footballs are played on or a shade of blue much like the sky jumped ino mind immaediately. I also played around with purple and yellow as both are bright colors. But in the end, i settled on this mixture of white, black and grey. I did this as when thinking about football and Jamaica, the first thing that comes to mind is it’s history. I believe these colors gives off a nostalgic feeing.

Type studies The font Minion Pro was used as it designs come from late Renaissance period classic typefaces. This ties into my goal of trying tomake this book give off a sense of history,
