Our story of purpose has seen us evolve into a revolutionary workwear business, supplying quality, strong and durable garments to local and international markets. We want to empower all workers to perform to the best of their ability every day. We believe in excellent service and products of the highest quality; manufacturing and distributing garments ourselves. This ensures we maintain excellent quality, hold sufficient stock and offer short lead times.

Our manufacturing facilities are based in Lesotho and Mauritius, and produce around 40 000 garments a day. These garments are distributed through our state-of-the-art Distribution Centre based in Johannesburg, which has the capacity to move 20 million pieces annually. Our 8000m2 raw material warehouse based in Durban allows us to efficiently supply raw materials to our various manufacturing plants and further reduce our turnaround times. Although we’re growing rapidly, our journey has just begun.

The Jonsson Workwear stores are iconic large retail stores that offer the ultimate gateway into the Jonsson Workwear world. These stores supply the full Jonsson range as well as a wide array of PPE for different industries. Every store has friendly, knowledgeable product experts and its own customising facility.

The Jonsson Workwear Zones are based on the concept of a “store-within-a-store”. These zones are dedicated Jonsson retail spaces, stocking selected products but offering consumers access to the full range.

Jonsson Workwear stockists carry a range of industry-specific products.

ADJUSTABLE CUFFS

This handy double-button feature allows the sleeve cuff to be adjusted, either tighter or looser depending on the wearer’s requirements.

CROSS-STITCHED WITH LOOP-LOCK BUTTON ATTACHMENT

All our buttons are attached with a cross-stitched sewing method and secured with a loop-lock to prevent unravelling.

SAFETY POCKET

A concealed inner pocket is a practical and secure pocket on the inside of the garment, that can be used to stow away valuables.

This is a facing behind a zip to provide protection to the wearer and prevent any contact with the zip teeth against the skin or undergarments.

TOGGLE SAFETY CORD

A toggle is attached to the side seam using Petersham tape, to prevent the cord from snagging.

WASHES

Various industrial washes are done on some of our jeans and cottons, ensuring that our garments are pre-shrunk for a better fit, have a comfortable feel and a worn-in look.

WAISTBAND

This design feature allows workers to move freely in any working environment and alleviates the need to wear a belt.

HEAT SEALING

This is a PU tape applied to a seam to avoid water penetration through any perforation caused by the needle whilst closing the seam.

PRESS STUD CLOSURE

A press stud closure is a pair of interlocking discs that are used to fasten garments securely.

HOOK-AND -LOOP

Hook-and-loop comprises two lineal fabric strips, circles or squares consisting of opposing pieces, one with tiny hooks and the other with a dense pile, that interlock when pressed.

A bar tack is a small section of reinforced stitching on any stress point which makes the garment stronger and more durable.

We are fully committed to making workwear of the highest quality and durability so that wearers are protected in the workplace, and are empowered to perform at their best.

As the manufacturers of our own garments, we control and take responsibility for our quality, stock levels and lead times.

RAINPROOF

Our Wet Weather Gear is made from specialised rainproof fabric. Heat seal tape is applied to the sewn seams to prevent water from leaking through the seams of the garments, ensuring protection from the elements.

FLAME RETARDANT (W7)

The premium, flame retardant fabric finish used on selected garments provides the first line of defense against flash fire exposure. The treatment will result in the fabric self-extinguishing when the flame source is removed.

ACID RESISTANT

Our Acid Resistant garments are chemically treated to repel acid splashes, oil and water, and will not be destroyed by most chemicals.

Our vented garments have vents under the arms and/or along the back yoke to assist in moderating the body’s temperature in warm environments.

DAY/NIGHT VISIBILITY

We understand that the visibility of workers is essential in numerous working environments. The fluorescent fabric and reflective tape that we use on our High Visibility garments ensure that workers are visible in high-risk work environments.

DAY VISIBILITY

Our High Viz range uses fluorescent fabrics which are thoroughly tested to ensure workers stay visible and protected during the day.

NIGHT/LOW LIGHT VISIBILITY

Our highly advanced JW REFLECT quality reflective tape is used on our High Visibility garments, ensuring that workers are seen during low light conditions when illuminated by a light source.

ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTED

Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates the level of the sun’s UV radiation absorbed by the fabric. All Jonsson Workwear garments displaying this icon are rated UPF 50+ for your ultimate protection against the harsh effects of the sun, significantly reducing your skin’s exposure to UV radiation.

Your Jonsson garments are designed to withstand the elements in many different environments, however, they will last longer if they’re well taken care of. We encourage you to follow the wash care instructions on each garment label. Generally, we recommend that you wash your garments in cold water and hang them inside-out to prevent fading. Cotton is made to fade, so the best way to hang 100% cotton garments is out of direct sunlight. It is preferable to avoid tumble drying your garments as this may cause shrinkage and fading. Remember to wash dark and light colours separately to avoid the colours mixing.

GUMBOOT CARE

Foot hygiene is of particular importance when wearing gumboots. This is because sweat cannot be absorbed by PVC and when heat and sweat combine, germs and bacteria form rapidly.

ROUTINE CARE:

THE INTERIOR

The polyester inner sock lining of the Jonsson Workwear Gumboot allows for easy cleaning and quick drying. A mild disinfectant can be used on the interior of the gumboot, but it must be rinsed thoroughly and left to dry. The innersole may be taken out, and once loose dirt is removed, it can be washed with mild soap and water, and left out to dry.

THE EXTERIOR

The outside of the gumboot can be washed with mild soap and water. Chemicals and solvents should never be used, as these will cause the gumboot to become brittle and crack.

THE TREAD

To remove soil build-up in the tread pattern of the sole, use mild soap, water and a scrubbing brush.

IMPORTANT!

NEVER use heat to accelerate the drying process.

PVC GLOVES

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a thermoplastic polymer of vinyl chloride. PVC offers good abrasion resistance, but may be susceptible to punctures, cuts and snags. While it is flexible, it does not provide the tactile sensitivity associated with most rubber products.

PVC starts to soften at approximately 82˚C. PVC is effective against water and most aqueous solutions, detergents, and diluted bases and acids. It only has limited chemical resistance to organic solvents.
