COACHING STAFF TYLER MOTT

HEAD COACH YEAR: 18TH

ALMA MATER: OHIO WESLEYAN ‘04

Tyler Mott begins his 18th season as head baseball coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.

In 2016, Ohio Wesleyan finished second in the NCAC West Division, received an NCAA Division III tournament bid, and finished with a record of 27-16. The 2015 Bishops shared the NCAC West title, placed third in the NCAC tournament, and finished with a record of 28-13. In 2012, the Battling Bishops finished third in the NCAC tournament on the way to a 23-18 overall record, Ohio Wesleyan's 27th consecutive winning season. The 2011 Bishops compiled a record of 11-5 in NCAC play, advanced to the championship game of the NCAC tournament, and had an overall record of 25-16. Mott shared NCAC Coach of the Year honors. In 2009, the Bishops shared the NCAC West Division crown and finished with a 24-16 overall record. Mott had a spectacular season in his head coaching debut, guiding the Bishops to a 29-19 record, the team’s second straight NCAC championship, and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. His colleagues recognized his accomplishments by voting him NCAC Coach of the Year.

A 2004 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, Mott served as pitching coach at Marietta College for 3 seasons before returning to his alma mater. He helped the Pioneers win the 2006 NCAA Division III championship and make a return appearance in the Division III World Series in 2007.

During his Battling Bishop playing career, Mott earned first-team All-America honors after batting .408 and compiling a 12-1 record in 2003. He was a 4-time all-region selection and earned All-NCAC honors at pitcher, first base, third base and designated hitter. He continued his education while at Marietta, earning a master of arts in liberal learning in 2006.

Mott is a native of Grove City, Ohio, and attended Grove City High School. He and his wife, Megan, have 3 children, Mollie, Mason, and Maddie.

CONTENDERS

Congratulations to juniors Blake Pettit and Zane Vitense on being named “Contenders” for the month of February by the OWU Strength & Conditioning Staff. Student-athletes from each team were chosen based on the following criteria: leadership ability, work ethic, winning attitude, attendance, above-average ability to follow instructions, and the team sports performance standards. Shout out to Blake and Zane on their awards and to Coach Glass and his staff for all of their work with our athletes!

FIRST PITCH DINNER

FEBRUARY 23RD - OLD

DOG ALEHOUSE

A big thank you to all that helped make our second annual OWU Baseball First Pitch Dinner a huge success. We had an excellent turnout for the event celebrating our players with their families to kick off the 2025 season! Thank you to our hosts at Old Dog Alehouse, and OWU Hall of Fame member Joe Loudenslager ’04 for his message to the team. Thank you to our sponsors and the OWU Diamond Club for making the event possible!

TURF PROJECT

Our 2025 Littick Field turf project is essential for the success of our student-athletes and the OWU Baseball program. Once we reach our goal, we can break ground. Help us get it done in 2025! For more information, scan the QR code or visit the Littick Field Turf Project website.

SPIRIT DAY

Join us Tuesday, April 8th at Whit’s Frozen Custard in downtown Delaware for our first ever OWU baseball spirit fundraiser. Stop in for a scoop or Whittie to support OWU baseball with a portion of the proceeds going directly to the team.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Whether you're a current player, an alum, a parent, a sponsor, or a fan of OWU athletics, thank you for your continued support of Ohio Wesleyan baseball!
