Molly Lamb Bobak is an important 20th century Canadian printmaker, painter, and watercolourist. She was the first Canadian woman to be sent overseas as a war artist during World War II.
Lamb Bobak is known for her masterful handling of crowds and her approach to depicting gatherings, marches, parades, and sporting events. She is also recognized for her sensitive watercolour still lifes of flowers, a subject which she approached like a crowded landscape: “Poppies are like crowds,” she told the CBC in 1943, “you don’t organize them.”
