Workshop Z: Ethics

During the axonometric workshop I learnt how to transform a plan to an oblique plan, an elevation to an oblique elevation. I found it useful to know the step by step process on how to do these transformations which will benefit me in applying the same rules to any plan or elevation. Any line drawn in axonometric has to be parallel to x,y and z axes. I found it difficult how to set out the drawing at an angle exactly 45 degrees. This problem was overridden by placing the set square parallel to my drawing. This step ensured that the angle was accurate.

Orthographic drawings can communicate the same idea, but the only difference is that it shows both depth and distance. Axonometric drawings are therefore used to communicate and display both internal and external spaces. We also covered how to draw an exploded drawing using the scaled plans and elevations. I found it useful to trace the outline of the cube, and then moving the tracing by the same distance in a parallel motion in order to create the same shape. Exploded drawings are useful as they illustrate the different layers and the thicknesses of the walls.
