YOUR GUIDE TO THE WHAT’S CHANGING?
8
WEEK ADVANTAGE
JCC is transitioning from a majority 16-week class model to a majority 8-week class schedule in the fall of 2026 because data show that students perform as well or better in 8-week courses. Some courses will still be available in a 16-week format.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
You will have more opportunities to define your educational journey. If you are focusing on 2-3 classes rather than 4-6 at a time, it can be better for your success and encourage completion of credentials.
WILL IT COST MORE?
No. Tuition, fees, and financial aid stay the same.
WILL MY CLASSES BE HARDER?
No. Faculty are participating in course design workshops which ensure you achieve the same learning outcomes you would in 16 weeks - to maximize learning. You will also have access to tutoring, advising, and resources every step of the way.
WILL MY CREDITS BE THE SAME? Yes! Credits earned in 8-week classes are the same as 16-week classes. All courses identified as transfer courses will still be recognized as such.
WHAT WILL MY SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?
Fall & Spring: Take 2–3 classes in the first 8 weeks (Session I), then another 2–3 in the second 8 weeks (Session II) Summer: 8-week classes are already available
