We are grateful for his service, his leadership, and his example!

“Mike and Pam Chambers have served the mission of Johnson University Florida so well because they are first and foremost committed to the Great Commission of Christ. Their love for Christ and his people, the church, formed the foundation of their work with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.

MIKE’S LEADERSHIP, HARD WORK, AND PERSISTENCE HAS SERVED AS AN EXAMPLE TO US ALL.

Please join me in congratulating him on his retirement and praying for good health and fruitful ministry for Mike and Pam in the next season of their lives.”

TOMMY SMITH

President, Johnson University Mike’s time at Johnson University will be characterized by three words:

CHARACTER: Mike is a man of integrity. There are no shadows in his life. He exemplifies the words of Jesus—his yes is yes and his no is no.

CHAMPION of students:

Mike’s heart beats for our students! He wants to see them succeed. He rejoices with their victories and encourages them during their setbacks. The students have no greater fan than Mike Chambers.

COMPASSIONATE leader:

Mike has had a variety of roles at Johnson University Florida, from professor to dean of students to executive vice president. In every area he has exhibited compassion in his leadership. He follows the golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you and displays a quiet strength that is admired by all who serve with him.

ALAN TISON

Director of Advancement, Johnson University Florida

I really appreciate that Dr. Chambers conducts himself with integrity. HE 100% CHAMPIONS PEOPLE and believes the best in people.

KENDI HOWELLS DOUGLAS

Assistant Dean / Professor, Intercultural Studies

Over the past twenty years, I've had the rare privilege of both learning from and working with Dr. Chambers. In both capacities, he maintained a noticeably high level of professional and personal excellence.

I HAVE TRIED TO MIMIC HIS STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE IN MY OWN EDUCATION AND CAREER.

In all that Dr. Chambers has taught me over the years, nothing has been more formative for me than a simple maxim which he repeated often: "All truth is God's truth." He taught and led in light of this conviction. Dr. Chambers, I am so thankful for the years of excellent teaching and leadership you've devoted to the kingdom, especially at Florida Christian College and Johnson University Florida.

GARRETT THOMPSON

Assistant Dean of Academic Support & Career Services, Johnson University Florida Dr. Mike Chambers is a scholar and a gentleman. He cares deeply for our staff, faculty, and students. He is gentle, kind, considerate, and thoughtful—as I imagine Jesus was.

I AM A BETTER FOLLOWER OF CHRIST SINCE OUR PATHS HAVE CROSSED.

NEALY BROWN

Assistant Dean / Professor, School of Social & Behavioral Sciences

When Mike and Pam moved to Florida, I was excited to have them join the JUFL Choral Society. Last spring at a concert we were singing "Do You Hear the People Sing" from Les Miserables.

MIKE, 6'6" TALL, STOOD ON THE TOP ROW OF THE CHOIR AND THERE WAS NO HIDING HIM.

Near the end of the song, at a very powerful section in the music, Mike pulled out a pole with the Johnson University flag on it and waved it like a French Revolutionary soldier defending the barricades. To this day, I laugh at the memory.

Needless to say, Mike and Pam Chambers will be missed, and I wish them much happiness—and I hope I can still have them in my choir.

DIRK DONAHUE

Director of Creative Arts, Johnson University Florida I have had the pleasure of observing Dr. Chambers’ leadership from both a student perspective as well as in my current role as a JUFL staff member. I have enjoyed watching him serve others.

HE HAS DEVOTED COUNTLESS HOURS TO US, AND WE ARE ALL SO GRATEFUL.

I have learned from Dr. Chambers’ leadership, communication skills, creativity, professionalism, and service to Christ. He is a friend, mentor, leader, and brother, and he will be dearly missed.

MICAELA COX

Student Community & Resident Director, Johnson University Florida

When I was a student of Dr. Chambers, I thought he was one of the most brilliant men I had ever met. After two decades in higher education, I remain convinced of my initial impression.

DR. CHAMBERS TAUGHT US TO PURSUE THE LIFE OF THE MIND; TO PURSUE TRUTH WHEREVER IT GOES.

We learned to have humility in our epistemological claims and to practice charity to those with whom we disagreed. I do not believe I would have pursued my path in academia or found my way back to teaching at JUFL if it had not been for his influence.

Associate Professor of Humanities
