The City
Explore the Creative Capital
Providence packs a lot into one city. Just steps from our campus you’ll find evidence of how it earned the nickname “Creative Capital.” Stunning murals dot the cityscape and bring brilliant color to the historic brick buildings and new construction alike. Locally owned shops sell art, books, clothing and more. Award-winning cuisine from around the world can be found around every corner. Many of the city’s top restaurants are owned or operated by JWU alumni — a testament to the impact Wildcats have across Providence.
The rich history, the scenic river views, the art, the community, the food — this is Providence, and there is so much to discover.

Good Vibes, Great Eats
The food scene in Providence is unmatched — while you’re here for a tour of our campus, explore the city one bite at a time.
Take a stroll across the beautiful pedestrian bridge to check out restaurants on Wickenden Street and the surrounding neighborhood, such as Den Den Korean Fried Chicken or Persimmon. Head over to Thayer Street, a popular destination for global cuisine options, such as Kabob and Curry or East Side Pockets. Visit the historic Federal Hill area for some of the best Italian restaurants, such as Massimo Ristorante or Andino’s. Or, try one of the great spots just steps from our campus, such as The Malted Barley or Xaco Taco.
JWU is just a short walk or drive from all this and more. Scan the QR code to check out our full list of top restaurant picks.
