To help prepare our students to take their place in the global workforce, we place a strong emphasis on developing interdisciplinary programs focused on relevant industry demands. With that in mind, we created our new College of Food Innovation & Technology (CFIT), where students will explore culinary systems within the context of social, political and economic landscapes, analyzing the impact that food has on us all. Having this knowledge allows students to develop solutions, practices and food innovations that make a difference in everyday lives.

HELP YOUR STUDENTS BE UNSTOPPABLE Education is not confined to the four walls of the classroom at JWU. And earning a degree in less time is easy.

Here, students are not going to spend their entire time with their noses buried in a book, learning theories that they may never get a chance to apply — they’re going to get into the real world and apply them through internships, group projects, leadership opportunities, competitions and more.

From their first day here, they’ll be immersed in a professionally focused curriculum, learning by doing. Whether they know exactly what they’re looking for, or want to explore different areas of interest, JWU has many options to choose from.

AC C E L E R AT E D M A S T E R ’ S PROGRAMS

High school juniors can get started early at Johnson & Wales through the Early Enrollment Program (EEP). This program allows students to apply for early enrollment at JWU during their junior year of high school. Then, at the beginning of their senior year, they’ll start attending classes at JWU — earning credits for high school and college courses while still participating in their school activities.

Undergraduate students looking to earn a graduate degree in less time can do so through our Accelerated Master’s programs. During their senior year at JWU, they can take up to three graduate-level classes at no additional cost, saving money on their grad tuition. After completing their bachelor’s degree, they’ll continue their education by taking the remaining graduate courses required for their program of interest.

Internships are a core part of our academic programs. We don’t just treat them as an elective, or a way to spend the summer between students’ junior and senior year.

They are just as important as any class, with full academic credit and the opportunity to learn valuable lessons, the kind students can only get through first-hand experience.

Last year, more than 2,654 JWU students interned at nearly 1,518 sites worldwide.

An impressive 71% of JWU students received a job offer at the end of their paid internship last year.

No matter what major students choose to study, they have the ability to take it to the next level.

Sometimes that level is halfway around the globe, and all they need to do is get there with the help of our study abroad programs. With programs in locations from Athens to Zanzibar in areas like community engagement and software engineering, the JWU global experience means students are sure to find something that makes them dig a little deeper, think a little broader, and venture a little outside their comfort zone. Beyond that, they’ll gain skills that employers value, like flexibility and intercultural competence, and make professional connections that could last a lifetime.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF EXPERIENCE Johnson & Wales University offers a supportive, caring environment where faculty and staff work together to help students adapt to college life and succeed academically, personally and professionally. Student support services include • Accessibility Services — JWU provides reasonable accommodations to give students with learning disabilities, physical challenges and chronic medical conditions the opportunity to succeed. Services and assistance for accessibility, academic, classroom and housing accommodations, among others, are available.

• Academic Support Services — The university also offers a variety of services including peer and professional tutoring, online tutoring, writing labs and study skills workshops for topics such as time management, memory and test-taking tips and stress management.

• Student Financial Services — To assist with the financial aid process and selection of a payment option, JWU provides each student with a financial planning representative.

Throughout the process, they provide in-person loan counseling, education and strategies to make attending JWU financially possible for them and their families.

• Counseling, Health & Wellness — Inclusive confidential professional services are offered to provide support for students to manage their emotional and physical well-being through Health Services, Counseling Services and Health Education.

• Gender Equity Centers — Students will find a welcoming space for support, education and confidentiality around topics including sexual orientation, gender identity, violence prevention and more.

When calculating costs, discounts and other factors, the value and benefits of a JWU education make it more than competitive with other private and many public universities. N AT I O N A L S T U D E N T O R G A N I Z AT I O N S ( N S O ) AT J W U Johnson & Wales has a rich history of supporting National Student Organizations (NSO) and developing strong relationships with high school advisors. In fact, we’ve been doing it for more than 30 years. Our JWU representatives actively participate in state, regional and national conferences and mentor students as they navigate the transition to college.

For each of the past three years, on average, JWU offered $92 million in renewable scholarships to more than 4,000 prospective students. More than 20% of all JWU students participated in one of these organizations while they were in high school and chose to continue their memberships at JWU. This community provides a strong network to assist students with their personal and professional growth.

 APPLYING TO JWU If you think any of your students are ready to learn more about JWU, we encourage you to help them take the next step and apply.

There is no fee for applying to Johnson & Wales. Acceptance to the university is valid at either campus. Johnson & Wales offers Early Action Admission (for first-year applicants for fall semester), a non-binding application program for students who view JWU as one of their top choice schools. The advantage of Early Action is that applicants will learn of their admission decision sooner for planning purposes. Along with a decision letter, the applicant will receive scholarship notification (if applicable). The application deadline for Early Action is November 1.

Early Action decisions will be released mid-November. Application and transcripts must be received by the deadline. Candidates for Early Action will be evaluated primarily on their high school record through their junior year. For all other application deadlines and admissions requirements, please visit the JWU website.

  Applicants should follow these steps: 1. Complete the application for admission. Students may apply online at apply.jwu.edu. Paper applications can also be downloaded online. Johnson & Wales is also a Common Application school.

2. High school transcripts should be submitted to Admissions at the JWU campus where the student plans to enroll.

3. Students may check their application status online at jwu.edu/admissionsportal.
