13

guide to visual identity, communication, and assets using transparency and opacity with graphics on images

When using graphics over images always use white for graphic color. Solid white over images provides the most contrast. A graphic with dropshadow can help to distinguish white graphic from light areas of image, however application of dropshadow should be minimal. Example dropshadow settings used here: Logo: Mode: Multiply Opacity: 10% X Offset: .25 Y Offset: .5 Blur: 1 Color: Black

Tagline and VG Credit: Mode: Multiply Opacity: 60% X Offset: .5 Y Offset: .5 Blur: .5 Color: Black

In some cases, applying 70-80% transparency to graphics can create a stronger sense of integration between graphic and image (also see page 14).
