Dacă marile iubiri s-au născut din durere, şi aceste versuri mi-au fost murmurate de ultimele gânduri ale unor fiinţe, ce au trecut pragul clipei supreme, ideii care n-au voit să moară odată cu acei oameni nevinovaţi, în data de 11 Septembrie 2001 pe teritoriul Statelor Unite ale Americii.

As the great emotions were born out of pain, these lines were Whispered to me by the last thoughts of some human beings that went beyond the threshold of the final moment, ideas which wouldn’t die along with those innocent people on September 11, 2001 in the United States of America.

Asociaţia Culturală „România în Lume” a avut onoarea şi privilegiul, ca la 21 septembrie 2002, să lanseze prima ediţie a cărţii „CUNUNI DE FLORI PENTRU EROI” – autor Marin Voican-Ghioroiu.

Acţiunea a fost organizată la ARCUB într-o atmosferă de pioasă evocare a amintirii victimelor atentatelor de la NEW-YORK şi WASHINGTON. În prezenţa unor înalte personalităţi politice şi culturale ale României şi a distinsului domn KEVIN ELLISON –ministru consilier al Ambasadei Statelor Unite ale Americii de la Bucureşti, elevi ai Colegiului Naţional „Ion Luca Caragiale” – studenţi ai Universităţii Româno-Americane şi artista Doina Ghiţescu, au recitat poezii cuprinse în volumul de versuri, rememorând tragicele evenimente. În cuvântul lor, Rectorul Universităţii Româno-Americane, prof.

univ. dr. ION SMEDESCU şi Preşedintele Asociaţiei Culturale „România în Lume” prof. univ. dr.

Ghiorghi Prisăcaru (senator în Parlamentul României) au exprimat solidaritatea, simpatia şi compasiunea, dar şi admiraţia faţă de poporul american prieten, pentru modul exemplar în care s-a mobilizat depăşind momente critice de un real dramatism cu demnitate şi speranţă în viitor.

Atentatele teroriste au generat pagube imense pe teritoriul american. Administraţia americană a fost nevoită să dea curs solicitării celor cinci mari companii de asigurare şi reasigurare de a primi un credit de la Banca Federală de 350 miliarde USD pentru a acoperi daunele.

La finalul manifestărilor, Asociaţia Culturală „România în Lume” a donat ambasadei americane un tablou realizat de Daniela Trandafir – artist plastic, membră a asociaţiei noastre, reprezentând viziunea sa privind reconstrucţia NEW-YORK- ului, iar elevii şi studenţii prezenţi s-au deplasat într-o procesiune religioasă în faţa ambasadei americane, unde au păstrat un moment de reculegere şi au depus coroniţe de flori şi lumânări aprinse în memoria celor dispăruţi.

Data de 21 septembrie 2001 rămâne înscrisă în istoria S.U.A cu lacrimi de sânge, reamintind peste generaţii cât de vulnerabile au fost sistemele de securitate în faţa unor acţiuni teroriste, gândite de minţi diabolice care s-au folosit de noile tehnologii în materie de explozivi şi comunicaţii pentru a penetra dispozitive de protecţie bine articulate. Atentatele au marcat începutul mileniului trei, deschizând porţile terorii, eliberând câinii războiului – aţâţaţi de mirosul 8

de sânge. Despre aceste evenimente tragice s-au scris multe lucrări, unele readucând în atenţie teoria conspiraţiei, potrivit căreia, serviciile secrete

americane în complicitate cu forţe politice ultraconservatoare de la Casa Albă, ar fi încurajat producerea acestor evenimente pentru a putea justifica, ulterior, lansarea doctrinei, loviturilor preventive, în războiul declarat terorismului. O

radiografie a politicii externe americane după 11 septembrie 2001, adeptă a „diplomaţiei forţei” - nu a „forţei diplomaţiei” – a intrat deja în contradicţie cu opţiunile cetăţeanului american profund religios şi tolerant, care se opune tot mai deschis măsurilor luate de autorităţi pentru limitarea libertăţilor cetăţeneşti individuale, cât şi continuării războiului din Irak şi menţinerii prezenţei militare în Afghanistan. În cei şapte ani de la drama care a lovit poporul american, relaţiile Statelor Unite ale Americii cu Uniunea Europeană – partenerul său tradiţional – au evoluat spre rivalitate şi confruntare pe probleme majore care preocupă omenirea: protocolul de la KYOTO; combaterea sărăciei şi discriminării; proliferarea armelor de distrugere în masă şi nano-tehnologiilor cu aplicaţii militare; reforma ONU; combaterea terorismului, reducerea poluării la nivel planetar…

Cred că este momentul să readuc în atenţia cititorilor definiţia dată războiului, indiferent de forma pe care o îmbracă, de Preşedintele C.L.I.P.S.A.S. Jean Robert Ragache (organizaţie care aduna obedienţele masonice refuzând orice dogmatism care proslăvea libertatea de conştiinţă) în 1991 <<Un

război, indiferent de forma lui de manifestare, este întotdeauna o înfrângere: a raţiunii, înţelepciunii, a

dezbaterii democratice. Este triumful ignoranţei şi neînţelegerii.>>

Primul Congres de ecumenism pe Transilvania, organizat la Braşov în mai 2006 de Fundaţia „DaciaBraşov” – la care a participat şi conducerea Asociaţiei Culturale „România în Lume” a lansat un apel pentru încurajarea dialogului deschis între culturi, religii, civilizaţii, pentru unirea eforturilor în vederea combaterii violenţelor şi discriminărilor de orice fel şi pentru ridicarea spirituală a omului. De aceea, consider necesar să evoc, aici, îndemnul lui Jean Robert Ragache fraţilor masoni: <<Noi nu deţinem

adevărul, dar avem o certitudine: aceea a perfectibilităţii omului şi societăţii. Datoria noastră este de-a contribui la aceasta.>> Asociaţia Culturală

„România în Lume” consideră că organizarea sumitului NATO la Bucureşti în aprilie 2008, ar putea fi un bun prilej pentru ca relaţiile SUA – UE să fie reconsiderate şi relansate, să se stabilească o poziţie comună în relaţia cu Federaţia RUSĂ şi faţă de conflictele „îngheţate” din: Kosovo, Republica Moldova, Abhazia, Osetia, Nagorno-Karabah şi Cecenia; securitatea Europei fiind în strânsă legătură cu evoluţiile politico-militare din Asia Centrală şi Caucaz.

Apreciind valoarea poeziilor cuprinse în a II-a ediţie a cărţii „CUNUNI DE FLORI PENTRU EROI”, exprimăm mulţumiri domnului CONSTANTIN ZAHARIA, Director General AUTORITATEA FEROVIARĂ ROMÂNĂ, pentru fotografiile realizate în 2007 şi puse la dispoziţia editurii, care reamintesc cititorilor de zona unde se ridicau măreţe turnurile GEMENE şi WORLD TRADE CENTER. The „Romania in the World” Cultural Association has had the honor and the privilege to launch on the September 21st 2002 the first edition of “FLOWER CROWNS FOR THE HEROES” – by Marin Voican-Ghioroiu. The event was organized at ARCUB, in an environment of pious evocation of the NEW-YORK and WASHINGTON attacks victims memory.

In the presence of important Romanian political and cultural lions and of eminent sir KEVIN ELLISON – United States of America Minister and Adviser in Bucharest, pupils from the „Ion Luca Caragiale” National College –students at the Romanian-American University and artist Doina Ghiţescu recited poems included in the poetry volume, thus remembering the tragic events.

In their speeches, the Chancellor of the Romanian-American University, Prof. Dr. ION SMEDESCU and the “Romania in the World” Cultural Association President, Prof. Dr. Ghiorghi Prisăcaru (a Senator in the Romanian Parliament) expressed their solidarity, sympathy and compassion, and also the admiration for the fellow American people, and for the exemplary manner in which they have mobilized, overcoming really dramatic critical situations with dignity and hope for the future. The terrorist attacks caused huge damage on the American territory. The American Administration had to accept the request of the five great insurancereinsurance companies regarding the acquirement of a 350 billion US Dollars loan from the Federal Bank, in order to cover the damage.

At the end of the event, the “Romania in the World” Cultural Association donated to the American Embassy a canvas painted by Daniela Trandafir – a plastic artist, member of our Association, depicting her vision on the reconstruction of NEW YORK, and the pupils and students present walked in a religious procession in front of the American Embassy, where they kept a moment of silence and laid wreaths of flowers and candles lit for the memory of the gone.

The date of September 21st 2001 shall remain written in the history of the U.S.A. in tears of blood, reminding future generation how vulnerable the security systems were before terrorist attacks, planned by diabolical minds using the new technologies in the Communications and Explosives fields, in order to penetrate well-articulated protection facilities. The attacks marked the beginning of the 13

third millennium, opening the gates for terror, thus releasing the war dogs – bestirred by the smell of blood. Many works have been written about these tragic events, several bringing into question the Conspiracy Theory according to which, in

connivance with the ultra-conservatory forces from the White House, the American Secret Services would have encouraged the occurrence of such events in order to justify afterwards the launching of the doctrine, of the preventive strikes, in the war declared to terrorism. An X-ray of the American external

politics, following September 11th 2001, choosing the “forced diplomacy” - and not of the “force of the diplomacy” – has already contradicted with the options of the deeply religious and tolerant citizens, disputing more freely the actions taken by the authorities for the limitation of the individual civic freedoms, and to the sequel of the Irak war and the maintenance of military presence in Afghanistan.

During the seven years since the tragedy which stroke the American people, the relations of the United States of America with the European Union – their traditional partner – have evolved into rivalry and confrontation in regard to the major problems affecting humanity: the KYOTO protocol, the fight against poverty and discrimination; proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and of noontechnologies with military applications; UN reform; fight against terrorism, pollution limitation at the global level... I think it is time I drew the readers’ attention on the definition established in 1991 for war, regardless of its form, by Jean Robert Ragache, President of C.L.I.P.S.A.S., (organization gathering 14

Masonic obedience, denying any dogmatism praising freedom of consciousness) << Regardless of its form

of exercise, war is always a defeat: defeat of reason, of good sense and of democratic debates. It is a triumph of ignorance and dissension. >>

The First Ecumenical Congress in Transylvania, conducted in Braşov in May 2006 by the „DaciaBraşov” Foundation – to which the “Romania in the World” Cultural Association management also participated, launched an appeal for the encouragement of open dialogue between cultures, religions, and civilizations in order to unite forces in the fight against violence and discrimination of any kind and to spiritually raise people. For this reason, I deem necessary to hereby evoke the advice given by Jean Robert Ragache to the Masonic brothers: <<

We do not hold the truth, but we are sure of one thing: that people and the society can be improved.

Our duty is to make a contribution to this. >>

The “Romania in the World” Cultural Association considers that the NATO summit organization in Bucharest in April 2008 could be a good opportunity for the reconsideration and relaunching of the relations between the USA and the EU, and for the development of a common position in the relationship with the Russian Federation and in regard to the “frozen” conflicts from: Kosovo, the Republic of Moldova, Abhazia, Osetia, NagornoKarabah and Chechnya; since the European security is in close relation with the political and military evolutions in the Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Appreciating the value of the poems included in the second edition of the book “FLOWER CROWNS FOR THE HEROES”, we express our gratefulness to Mister CONSTANTIN ZAHARIA, General Manager of the Romanian Railway Authority for the photographs taken in 2007 and made available to the publishing house, which remind the readers about the area where the magnificent TWIN towers and WORLD TRADE CENTER used to rise.

PREFAŢĂ La nivel planetar, oamenii trec prin destule tragedii: cutremure de pământ, inundaţii, schimbări bruşte de climă cu îngheţuri puternice, călduri toride care aduc seceta ce distruge flora şi fauna; dar ce-l mai crâncen flagel ce bântuie specia noastră, este războiul ce se duce în cele mai felurite moduri.

Monstruozitatea cu care se acţionează de beligeranţi, depăşeşte orice imaginaţie – este ca o competiţie diabolică, cine pe cine poate să omoare, să schingiuiască cu cea mai mare cruzime.

Pentru aceşti indivizi ce sunt lipsiţi de sentimentele umane – cu care ne-a înzestrat Creatorul – pentru ei nu mai există milă, îndurare, iubire, afecţiune, dragoste de semeni, ci ură oarbă.

Catastrofa ce s-a petrecut pe teritoriul Statelor Unite ale Americii în 11 Septembrie 2001, un atentat banditesc asupra civilizaţiei umane; terorismul a atins culmile atrocităţii terifiante, fiindcă în această acţiune scelerată nu se găseşte nici una din formele de luptă pe care le-ar justifica barbaria de care au dat dovadă, omorând fără discernământ mii de vieţi omeneşti nevinovate, în majoritate civili. Milioane de oameni, 17

din zeci de ţări, au făcut front comun împotriva acestui flagel care-şi întinde tentaculele lui ucigătoare peste fiinţa noastră şi ne ameninţă în permanenţă liniştea şi pacea, spunând cu toţi: STOP TERORISMULUI! Oameni de ştiinţă şi cultură, prin puterea şi capacitatea lor de creaţie, au sensibilizat prin opere lor literar-artistice (în toate timpurile) mase largi ale populaţilor de pe întreg globul (indiferent de concepţiile lor politice sau religioase), pentru a se ridica cu hotărâre toate popoarele -- la nivel de stat şi ţară, făcând front comun împotriva oricărui act de inumanitate săvârşit, indiferent de motivaţia şi scopul urmărit de către atentatori.

Când am citit volumul de versuri “CUNUNI DE FLORI PENTRU EROI “ al poetului Marin VoicanGhioroiu, din primele versuri suntem introduşi în atmosfera cotidiană a omului de rând din America, care munceşte, iubeşte, învaţă, îşi fac planuri … fiindcă trăieşte într-o ţară liberă şi prosperă, este încrezător în ziua de mâine. Pentru el viitorul îi este asigurat şi-i departe de el gândul de-a se teme de neprevăzut. Când totul este atât de minunat în viaţa unui popor, pe cerul căruia nu au survolat niciodată vreun avion sau rachetă străină, având securitatea asigurată, iar moralul americanilor este cât se poate de ridicat în această privinţă, ca în 11 septembrie să se producă incredibilul: avioane civile, de pe aeroporturi americane, (deturnate de piraţi ai aerului -terorişti de meserie) se izbesc şi explodează în oraşul New –York; distrug cele două turnuri ale Word Trade Center, o parte din clădirea Pentagonului, iar un avion care nu-şi atinge ţinta, cade şi omoară călătorii şi întregul echipaj; distrugerile sunt imense, mii de vieţi omeneşti pier în cel mai tragic mod.

Poetul, precum tot românul, sensibil la ce s-a petrecut în acele clipe de iad, ne aduce, ca pe un ecran panoramic, imagini vii, ultimele gânduri ale acestor năpăstuiţi ai soartei. Gândurile lor sunt atât de calde şi înduioşătoare, sunt ca o vibraţie a unei frunze ce se deprinde din peţiolul ei, pluteşte câteva clipe pe briza unu zefir (la eroii noştri îi putem spune ultima speranţă), ca apoi să cadă peste pământul umed şi rece, unde va putrezi, iar veşnicia o va acoperi definitiv.

De la domnişoara care o roagă pe mama ei să-i pună fotografia cea mai dragă (când ea a spus primul cuvânt „MAMĂ!”) pe masă, alături de crenguţa de tei, şi o imploră să nu plângă, căci frunza va suspina şi va muri cu ea deodată. Poezia „ULTIMUL GÂND”, până la cea care încheie volumul – „DINCOLO DE MOARTE”, speranţa şi credinţa nestrămutată în Dumnezeu, îi însoţesc pe eroii cărţii, unii din ei înving, alţii sunt împăcaţi cu gândul ce-l trimit celor mai dragi.

O scenă zguduitoare, de un dramatism cutremurător a prins în episodul, când un copil aleargă disperat, urcând etaj după etaj, să-i aducă medicamente mamei lui, şi-i atât de entuziasmat că le-a găsit. Este convins că Dumnezeu e lângă el şi l-a ajutat, şi-o roagă pe mama lui, ca atunci când îl sărută:

- „Lui să-I mulţumeşti, că El Ne-a creat şi ne-ngrijeşte; Zbor la tine, stai niţel!

Cu mânuţele lui firave strânge cutia de medicamente, îi e frică să nu le piardă, iar în clipa când porneşte spre casă, este prins de dărâmăturile blocului. Asistăm la ultimele clipe de viaţă ale acestui copil, când e scos de sub molozul dărâmăturilor; fiinţa lui gingaşă n-a mai rezistat, a muri cu zâmbetul pe buze, ştiind că doctoria o va face-o bine pe mama lui, care va spune printre lacrimi: - „O, dragul mamei, n-am crezut Că voi trăi în urma ta!…

Tu, Doamne, lăudat şi sfânt!

Acum e timpul…,mă poţi lua.

Versul are ritm, muzicalitate şi curge lin, ca un izvor ce alintă durerea, fiindcă a cuprins cu multă măiestrie sensibilitatea acestor îndrăgostiţi, cât şi durerea ce izbucneşte din inimile celor care au rămas singuri în urma dezastrului. Aş aminti de starea de spirit a bărbatului trecut de prima tinereţe, care îşi respectă şi-şi iubeşte soţia, nu uită să-i facă mici cadouri, ca pe nişte dulci suveniruri, ce-i amintesc de un trecut frumos (când ascultând armonii nostalgice de pe un disc vechi), retrăieşte acele clipe şi-i nerăbdător să ajungă cât mai repede acasă. „MELODIA NOASTRĂ” nu va mai fi ascultată în doi, fiindcă destinul îi întrerupe drumul eroului nostru chiar 20

când ieşise în stradă, clipa nefastă îl trimite, ca pe miile de semeni ai lui, în lumea de dincolo. În „SCHIMBUL GĂRZII”, sau „ULTIMUL ROND LA PENTAGON”, poetul este alături de cei care-şi împărtăşesc impresiile, gândurile şi unele dorinţe imperioase, ca: dragostea pentru iubita ce s-a supărat dintr-o joacă… şi, de ar vrea, cu drag o invită să petreacă împreună într-un colţişor liniştit.

De asemenea, observă teama şi neliniştea ce-l frământă pe unul din militarii care presimte că ceva rău pluteşte în aer, (fiorii morţii îi simte ca pe reci reptile ce-i înconjoară fruntea). Sunt stări sufleteşti pe care le găsim spuse lapidar şi cu o tensiune ce creşte, atingând punctul culminant, care are un deznodământ nefericit. Un vis prevestitor are şi însoţitoarea de bord Liza, care se trezeşte în urma unui vis halucinant şi-i spune soţului Tom că păsări ale răului au apărut pe cerul cuprins de flăcări şi au distrus totul, iar steaua lui norocoasă a pierdut-o în imensitatea universului.

Premoniţia, ca semnal de alarmă la nivelul scoarţei cerebrale, sau ca un avertisment pe care-l percepe omul, având legături ancestrale, o face pe Liza să se teamă pentru soţul ei şi cei doi copii -- Grig şi Greta; vis prevestitor, ce se dovedeşte a fi adevărat, chiar în clipele când ea le urează călătorilor bun venit la bordul avionului şi-i îndeamnă să privească panorama oraşului. Pământul îl vede cum se desfăşoară şi alunecă în fâşii pastelate, în cele mai frumoase culori ale unei toamne târzii. Am lăsat la urmă poezia ce poartă numele de “CUNUNI DE FLORI PENTRU EROI” – fiindcă în structura ei putem desprinde iubirea poetului pentru eroii cărţii, care nu sunt alţii decât miile de americani ce au plătit cu viaţa lor nevinovată răzbunarea unor sceleraţi (care în nebunia 21

lor au lovit în civilizaţia umană) şi în acelaşi timp vedem încrederea ce o avem noi, ca români, într-o Americă ce va renaşte mai înfloritoare şi va da lumii Porumbelul PĂCII, iar stelele de pe drapelul american se vor aprinde şi vor lumina pentru slava veşnică a eroilor. Mi se pare că în următoarele versuri, poetul Marin Voican-Ghioroiu a atins un pisc foarte drag poporului american, pe care-l numim patriotism naţional.

Iar din petale ne-mpletiţi Drapelul nostru sfânt; Copii, neveste şi părinţi… Încet lăsaţi-l pe mormânt, Căci vrem să-l încălzim Cu răsuflarea noastră…

Suntem cu voi şi vă iubim! În încheiere, recomand ca volumul CUNUNI DE FLORI să fie citit de cei care au rămas în suferinţă în urma pierderii celor dragi, cât şi de românii din diaspora care locuiesc în S.U.A. motiv pentru care, Universitatea Româno-Americană s-a îngrijit de traducerea poeziilor şi a sprijinit apariţia acestei minunate cărţi.

Aşa cum şi poezia mai sus amintită spune în final despre ura care trebuie alungată şi pacea să se statornicească pe pământ, şi eu sunt alături de toţi oamenii; militez şi susţin “Crezul libertăţii” pentru toate popoarele de pe glob, pentru restabilirea unui climat de pace şi bună înţelegere.

Viaţa, Dumnezeu când ne-a dat – Pământu-ntreg ne-a dăruit, El, ura neagă-a alungat…

Prin jertfa Lui ne-a mântuit Este timpul să fim mai aproape unii de alţii, să ne iubim semenii, şi ori de câte ori avem un timp liber, să ne întoarcem la poezie, fiindcă prin ea, sufletele noastre devin mai sensibile; în ea găsim armonia cuvântului, liniştea de care avem nevoie şi ne aduce aminte să veghem la libertatea noastră şi să nu-i uităm pe aceşti eroi.

At a planetary level, people are passing through enough tragedies: earthquakes, floods, sudden climate changes with strong frosts, powerful heats that bring drought that destroys fauna and flora; but the worst pest that travels the earth is war that is being led in the most various ways. The monstrosity with which the parties are acting exceeds any expectations – it’s an evil competition of who can kill who, to torture with the biggest cruelty.

For these individuals that lack any human emotions that the Creator endowed us with; for them there is no mercy, relief, love, affection, but blind hate.

The catastrophe that took place on the 11th of September 2001 on the territory of the United States 23

of America was a bandit attack over the human civilization; the terrorism reached the peaks of terrifying atrocity, because in this mad action none of the forms of battle, that would justify the barbarism they showed, can be found, killing without difference thousands of innocent people – mostly civilians.

Millions of people from dozens of countries formed a common front against this pest, that spreads its deadly tentacles over our being and threatens permanently our peace and quiet, saying in one voice: STOP TERRORISM! Science and culture people through their power and capacity of creation have softened and determined through their literary-artistic creations (throughout the time) large masses of the populations throughout the globe, (no matter their religious and political conceptions) to rise with determination, all the peoples at a country and state level, uniting in a common front against any act of inhumanity done no matter what the motivation and the purpose followed by the authors.

When I read the poetry volume “FLOWER DROWNS FOR THE HEROES” by the poet Marin Voican-Ghioroiu, we are transported from the first lines in the daily atmosphere of the common man in America, that works, loves, learns and plans … because he lives in a free and prosper country, and he believes in tomorrow; for him the future is secure and he is far from being afraid from the unpredictable.

When everything is so beautiful in the life of a people, on whose sky, no foreign plane or rocket have flown, having its security insured and the American moral is as high as possible about it, on the 11th of September the unbelievable happens: civilian airplanes from 24

American airports (hijacked by air piratesprofessional terrorists) crush and explode in the New York City; destroy the two Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, a part of the Pentagon building, and a plane that doesn’t reach its target falls and kills the passengers and the entire crew; the damages are huge, thousands of human lives in the most tragic manner.

The poet like all the Romanians sensible to what happened in those tragic moments, brings to us on a panoramic view, live images, the last thoughts of those hit by fate. Their thoughts are so warm and emotional, they are like a vibration of a leaf that separates from its tail, floats for a few moments on a gentle breeze (for our heroes we can call it hope), and then falls on the wet and cold ground where it will rot, and eternity will cover it forever. From the little lady that prays her mother to put the dearest photo (when she first said the word „MOTHER!”) on the table, next to the lime-tree branch and begs her not to cry cause the leaf will cry and die with her; the “LAST THOUGHT” poetry till the one that closes the volume “BEYOND DEATH”, hope and unshaken belief in God, makes the heroes of the book; some of them win other make peace with the thought they send to the loved ones. A ravishing scene of an extraordinary drama is that in which a child runs desperately climbing floor by floor to take medicines to his mother and he is so enthusiastic that he found them. He is convinced that God is next to him and helped him and asks his mother that when she will kiss him: „You will thank Him, cause He Created us, and nurses us I fly at you, just wait a second 25

Your life does not end” With his little hands he holds the medicine box, he is afraid not to lose them, and the moment he sets for home, he is caught under the crushing block. We take part to the last moments of life of this child when he is taken from underneath the mud; his delicate being could not resist anymore, he died smiling knowing that the medicine will cure his mother who will say among tears: „Oh mother’s dear! … I haven’t thought That I shall live from you Oh God, You praised and saint Now is the time, … You can take me.”

The lyrics have rhythm, music and flows smoothly like a spring that soothes the pain because it captured with great sensibility of the lovers and the pain that comes from the hearts of those who remained all alone following the disaster. I would remember the state of mind of the man who passed his first youth who respects and loves its wife and does not forget to make some little presents like sweet souvenirs that remember a beautiful past, (when listening to nostalgic songs from an old record relives these moments and is impatient to get home as quick as possible). “OUR SONG” will no longer be listened in two, because the destiny interrupts the path of our hero right when he got on the street, the deadly moment sending him like thousands other compatriots to the other world.

In “THE SHIFT OF GUARD” or “THE LAST ROUND ON PENTAGON” the poet is close to those who shear their impressions, thoughts and some 26

imperative desires such as: the love for the loved one that got mad from a game… and if she would like, he will dearly invite her to spend together in a quiet little corner. Also you can see the fear and anxiety that troubles one of the militaries that senses something evil floating in the air (the shivers of death like cold reptiles surround its forehead). These are emotions that we found said in a quick manner and with a rising tension, reaching the high point that has a miserable ending. A foretelling dream also has the hostess Liza that awakes following a hallucinating dream and tells her husband Tom that evil birds have appeared on the burning sky and shattered everything, and he lost his lucky star in the enormity of universe. The premonition as an alarm signal at the level of the brain or as a warning that people perceive, having ancestral connections, makes Liza fear for her husband and children – Grig and Greta; foretelling dream that turns out to be true (even in the moments during which she wishes welcome to the travelers and tells them to look at the view of the city below). They see the earth unfurling and slipping in slides, in the most beautiful colors of a late autumn.

I left the last the poem “FLOWER CROWNS FOR THE HEROES” because in its structure we can see the love of the poet for the heroes of the book, who are no others than the thousands of Americans that paid with their innocent lives the revenge of mad men who in their madness struck the civilization of humanity; and in the same time we see the trust that we Romanians have in an America that will rise even more flourishing and will give to the world the PEACE DOVE, and the stars from the American flag will turn on and will light up the heroes’ forever glory. I think 27

that in the following lyrics Marin Voican-Ghioroiu has touched a peak very dear to the American people, that we call national patriotism.

“And from the petals you will make Our holy flag; Children’s, wife’s and parents…

Slowly let him down in the grave Cause we want to warm him With our breath – We are with you and we love you!”

In closing I recommend the volume “FLOWER CROWNS FOR THE HEROES” to be read by those who remained into suffering following the loss of their loved ones, and also by the Romanians abroad that live in the USA, reason for which the Romanian American University took care of the translation of these poems and supported the apparition of this beautiful book. As the poem we remembered earlier says in its final about the hate that must be banished and the peace that must be on earth, so I am close to all people; I fight for and support the “Freedom Belief” for all the peoples on the globe, for the establishment of a peace and good understanding climate.

“The life GOD gave us The entire earth gave to us He banished the black hate Through his sacrifice he cleaned us of our sins.”

It is the time to stick close together, to love our companions and every time we have a free moment to return to poetry because by it our souls turn more sensible; in it we find the harmony of word, the quiet

that we need and it remembers us to look after our freedom and not to forget these heroes.

CUVÂNTUL AUTORULUI În aceste poezii am căutat să prind ultimele gânduri ale celor care au fost tineri, vârstnici, copii, părinţi, îndrăgostiţi…oameni ce au iubit viaţa, şi au murit într-un mod nefericit. Tragedia acestor oameni m-a întristat foarte mult, am fost şi sunt zguduit de soarta nemiloasă care au avut-o căci, fiecare cuvânt pe care l-am scris, mi-a fost trimis prin şoapte dulci de către sufletele lor ce plutesc în apropierea noastră.

Gândurile lor le-am trăit ca pe nişte imagini vii, şi am suferit alături de ei. Moartea lor fulgerătoare, fiind îngropaţi de vii sub dărâmăturile imensului bloc World Trade Center, a clădirii Pentagonului, pulverizaţi în neant prin explozia avioanelor, am înţeles-o ca pe cea mai mare catastrofă la nivel planetar, ca pe un atac mişelesc asupra civilizaţiei umane. Pentru aceşti oameni minunaţi, în volumul „CUNUNI DE FLORI” am venit cu rugămintea din partea eroilor, ca toţi oamenii de pe pământ să le sădească flori pentru slava şi nemurirea lor. În „CREZUL UNEI MAME” este cuprinsă revolta tuturor femeilor din lume, care nu mai vor să30

şi piardă fii şi soţii în confruntări sângeroase, fiindcă durerea de mamă este atât de mare, că cerul s-ar umple de milă şi ar aduce PACEA veşnică pe pământ.

Sunt încrezător că America va renaşte mai înfloritoare, va da PORUMBELUL PĂCII oamenilor, şi-şi va cinsti eroii răsădind floare lângă floare în pământul binecuvântat de Dumnezeu al patriei lor – Ţara Libertăţii.

A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR Within these poems I tried to catch the final thoughts of those who were young, old, children, lovers, parents, people who loved life, and died tragically. The tragedy of these people made me so sad that I was shattered of their merciless fate, that every word I wrote was inspired by their innocent souls. Their thoughts I lived with live images and I suffered alongside their being that ended together with the crushing of the two Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, onto them, burying them alive.

The explosion of the airplanes that pulverized into nothingness the travelers, the destruction of the Pentagon Building, where so many people died, I understood as the largest tragedy of the American 31

people and of the civilized world in front of the terrorism For these people in “FLOWER CROWNS FOR THE HEROES” I came with the request from them that the entire human kind and especially the American people to seed flowers in the blood filled ground of the USA, and the stars on the flag would light forever in their memory, cause they were innocent and they could not live anymore because of bloody terrorists that attacked in a cowardly manner the human civilization.

Rarely (it is for the first time) it happens that in the life of a nation such a tragedy takes place. In that mother’s belief which by her fate, bows to GOD for the innocent to be punished, and to mourn forever because there were mother’s that grow their children without their fathers, and the children without parents will suffer their hole life.

America will revive even more flourishing, and will give to the world the PEACE DOVE, and its people will know to honor its heroes. For them, flower next to flower will grow, on the blessed earth of a free country.

Urc etajul…, am găsit: Doctoria ta există…

Sunt atât de fericit!

N-am s-o pun în buzunar – Pot s-o pierd dacă alerg; Doamne, mi-ai făcut un dar… Şi de-aceea te-nţeleg: Că alăturea de mine Eşti mereu şi mă ajuţi; Mamă, te vei face bine!… Şi când ai să mă săruţi, Lui să-I mulţumeşti, că El Ne-a creat şi ne-ngrijeşte; Zbor la tine, stai niţel!

SĂ NE ADUCEM AMINTE După şapte ani de la 11 septembrie 2001 Vremea nu a rămas pe loc, numai durerea celor care şi-au pierdut pe cei dragi a săpat neîncetat în sufletul lor, precum apa unui râu în malul nisipos, le-a marcat existenţa, le-a schimbat cursul vieţii pentru totdeauna, i-a făcut să trăiască cu amintirea părinţilor, copiilor, prietenilor…plângându-i neîncetat. Durerea au transformat-o-n poezie, iar poezia a devenit cântec de alean şi întristare. Pe scena politică a lumii s-au petrecut evenimente deosebit de grave, s-au deschis noi teatre de luptă pentru lichidarea terorismului. Popoarele au înţeles că civilizaţia umană este ameninţată de păsări malefice însetate de sânge, duhuri ale răului care ne fac viaţa un calvar . Toţi oamenii care iubesc LIBERTATEA, uniţi în gând şi acţiune, se 133

străduiesc să aducă PORUMBELUL PĂCII pe pământ, făcând front comun împotriva răului.

Sentimentele mele de dragoste şi compasiune pentru cei care au fost jertfiţi fără milă (acum şapte ani) de forţele răului la 11 Septembrie 2001, cât şi pentru urmaşii celor dispăruţi, au rămas aceleaşi, motiv ce m-a făcut să scriu şi a doua parte la volumul „CUNUNI DE FLORI PENTRU EROI” – fiind convins că apelul meu va fi înţeles de cei care conduc destinele omenirii.

Lumea va deveni mai bună. Iubirea faţă de aproapele nostru va fi ca o binecuvântare dumnezeiască. Viaţa pe care am primit-o în dar de la bunul nostru Dumnezeu nu ne va mai fi curmată în războaie şi atentate distrugătoare, ci vom trăi liberi şi fericiţi alături de cei dragi. Soarta celor dispăruţi în groaznicul atentat din 11 septembrie 2001 a adus aceeaşi durere în sufletul poporului american, ca şi nouă, românilor, în timpul Revoluţiei de înlăturare a regimului comunist, în decembrie 1989. Mulţumesc din inimă distinşilor domni: Ec. diplomat GHEORGHE DRAGOMIR – Preşedinte Exicutiv al Asociaţiei Culturale „ROMÂNIA ÎN LUME” şi Rectorului UNIVERSITĂŢII ROMÂNOAMERICANE, prof. univ. dr.ION SMEDESCU, care mi-au fost îndrumători de nădejde, acordându-mi încredere şi sprijin prietenesc pentru a reuşi să public volumul de faţă, în care am sădit o părticică din sufletul meu pentru poporul american.

LET US REMEMBE Seven years after September 11th 2001

Years have passed. Still, the pain of those who lost the people they loved has been ceaselessly eroding their souls like streams digging in sandy banks. It has left a mark on their existence, and it has irreversibly changed the course of their lives. It has made them live to remember their parents, children, friends, and to endlessly mourn them.

These people have changed their pain into poetry, and poetry has been made into pieces of music expressing their deep regret.

Extremely grave events have taken place on the political stage of the world.

Consequently, new combat zones have been opened with a view to annihilating terrorism.

The peoples of the world are now aware of the fact that human civilization is being threatened by bloodthirsty evil birds that are turning our everyday life into a living hell.

All the people sharing their ideals of freedom and decisive action have been trying to bring the peace dove to the world by sticking together in front of evil forces. I still have the same feelings of love and compassion as regards those that were ruthlessly sacrificed by evil forces five years ago, on the 11th of September 2001. Also I feel the same about the relatives of the dead people.

This is the reason why I decided to write Part II - the sequel to Flower Wreaths – being also convinced that my appeal will be heard by those in charge of the destiny of mankind.

The world will be better. The love for our neighbor will be like a heavenly blessing. The life that we received as a gift from our Lord will be no longer put an end to as a result of wars and terrorist attempts. We will live in peace and harmony together with the people we love.

The deaths caused by the terrible events of September 2001 have plunged the American people into a kind of pain that is similar to the one experienced by us, the people of Romania, in December 1989 when the Revolution for abolishing the communist regime took place.

I wish to express my deep gratitude to the distinguished Professor Dr. ION SMEDESCU, Rector of the RomanianAmerican University, and GHEORGHE DRAGOMIR, Chief Executive Officer, “Romania in the World” Cultural Association, who has proved to be a most reliable guide.

He kindly offered his trust and support so that these poems could be published as a volume, as a book in which a part of my soul is piously dedicated to the American people.

Dacă-mi ştiai ca să-l reţii, Cu el puteai ca să rămâi; Ţi-ar spune: „Te iubesc!”

Cu apă rece am stropit Amorul…, să trezească Iubirea noastră, iubirea noastră…
