Design Development Designing a set of module bays to work with the apparatus while thinking about ways daylight may enter the building at different levels.

The Hallway A large hallway on the upper floor connects every space in the fire fighter’s living quarters to quick emergency response as they make their way down to the apparatus bays.

The journey through the galleries in the Civic Center’s museum of architecture. The lower levels begin by introducing visitors to the timeline of architecture and then progress to architectural lessons as guests rise up in the building. The experience culminates with a gallery on northwest regional architecture and the Portland skyline.

Chapman Hall’s Energy Usage Index Understanding how Chapman Hall uses energy to function. 10 - 15% of the building’s consumed energy comes from plug loads.

Chapman Hall Plug Load Project During the spring of 2014, I was on a 3 person team that studied plug loads in Chapman Hall. The project won 1st place in a grant competition and was nationally recognized by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers). I was commissioned to manage a team to produce a film of the study and make multiple presentations to firms and conventions about the project.

Faculty and Staff of Chapman Hall use about 28,525 kWh/year which costs the University of Oregon $3,423/year.

Chapman Hall uses about 32,475 kWh/year.

Data Logger Graphs We were able to understand the energy consumption of faculty by using Watts Up Pro dataloggers.

Presentation at the ASHRAE Convention in Chicago I was commissioned to present our research in front of 300 engineering professionals and students at the ASHRAE Convention in Chicago.

Electronic Device Survey We surveyed faculty to understand what types of devices they were using.
