2. Go up to the Castle of SĂŁo Jorge and walk through Alfama If you pass through Lisbon and do not go to the Castle of SĂŁo Jorge, you will surely miss an unforgettable moment. The castle overlooks the historic center of the City of Lisbon and the Tagus River. The castle is a National Monument which occupies a special area of the old citadel.

Furthermore, the grounds are an active archaeological dig and include the castle, as well as the remains of the former royal palace. The historic neighborhood surrounding the castle is for the wealthy and privileged class of the city.

3. Listen to a fado: Whether you like this style of music or not, in Lisbon dining by candlelight while listening to fado is inescapable. If you are lucky enough to hear him sing when you pass by any street in Alfama, Mouraria or Madragoa, take advantage of the occasion.

4.Transportation of Lisbon: Transportation around the city can be arranged in many different ways, and you can choose what fits your own style. Traveling by tram is a common means of transport for locals, but also one of the best ways to travel through historic neighborhoods. It looks good in any photograph and the sound of the tram going through the tracks is one of the most characteristic of the city

Visiting Monastery of São Vicente de Fora: The Monastery of São Vicente de Fora means “Monastery of St. Vincent Outside the Walls.” This is a monastery and church from the 17th-century and is of extreme importance in Portugal even today. Today, the original cistern is still standing, as well as the cloisters. The cloisters have the original tiles from the 18th century. There is one collection of tiles that depict the many stories and fables of Jean de LaFontaine. A trip to the rooftop will render a fabulous view over the Tagus River and the city of Lisbon.

6. Watching Statue Of King Jose I In Praca do Comercio: Statue Of King Jose is a bronze statue commemorating the inauguration Of King Jose I in 1775 in Praca do Comercio. The square is the greatest square in all of Portugal with buildings lining three sides. All the buildings are painted according to the original plans. Notice the snakes that are being symbolically crushed with the hoofs of King Jose’s horse.

7. Go up in the Santa Justa elevator: While touring Baixa, it will attract your attention as you pass through it. It offers enviable views over this old part of Lisbon, as well as being a privilege to travel in this more than one hundred year old elevator designed by Ponsard, a disciple of the great master of iron works, Gustave Eiffel.

8.Visiting the Jerónimos Monastery and the BelÊm Tower Lisbon has two unique World Heritage monuments. They are two jewels of the Manueline Gothic that easily impress anyone. In addition to the stone vaults, which are an admirable work of engineering, the wealth of decorative elements related to maritime aspects and the voyages of sailors is fascinating. Lisbon Tower or Torre Belem is a site to be seen, with it’s spectacularly carved balconies and magnificent turrets. This once critical tower was the first line of protection as the ships began coming into the area of the city. What once was an island, now sits alone by the monument of the unknown soldier.

9. Lisbon Unique food: Unique food abounds in Lisbon, and this fish dish with a different form of potato chip than what most are used too is delicious. Cod is often the fish used in making these fish dishes, though Cord fish is also used. This fresh Cod is especially good cooked with the local olive oil and a special local type of potato chip. This is authentic Portuguese cooking at it’s finest!

10. Visit the Oceanarium, in the Park of the Nations: The Park of the Nations is an example of success in the revitalization of an industrial area, with a privileged location on the river bank. It is worth visiting the Oceanarium, one of the largest in Europe, where you can see the fauna and flora of the various oceans of our planet.

11. Visit the National Tile Museum and the Car Museum Two unique museums in the world. One tells the history of azulejo in Portugal, from its first wall applications in the 16th century to the present day. The other has an unrivaled car collection, with fine 18thcentury specimens exuberantly decorated with paintings and gilt carving.

12. Look out the Love Locks In Miradouro da Senhora do Monte: This is the highest and most romantic lookout point over Lisbon and allows you to see for miles across the city. It is well known for its panoramic views of the city and it’s one of a kind sunsets.
