Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
Our end‑to‑end capability in the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure, spans small and large scale desalination plants, advanced treatment facilities, large‑scale pipelines, tunnels, dams and water recycling assets, delivered in greenfield and complex brownfield environments.
Our experience covers the full water cycle – from capturing, treating and transporting water to wastewater treatment, reuse and resource recovery – underpinned by strong safety, environmental and stakeholder management systems.
In Western Australia, John Holland has delivered complex water and wastewater
infrastructure including the Subiaco Wastewater Treatment Plant Odour Control and Plant Upgrade, the Beenyup Wastewater Treatment Plant Stage 1 Odour Control System, the Kwinana Water Reclamation Plant improved water efficiency for major industrial users in the area, and the Burrup Peninsula Seawater System which provided desalinated water to Burrup Fertilisers.
Nationally significant projects include the Upper South Creek Pipeline (NSW) which supports Sydney Water’s advanced recycling program, Hobson Bay Sewer Main (Stage 1) (Vic) involving deep tunnelling beneath the Yarra River, and the North West Treatment Hub (NSW) delivering next-generation wastewater treatment upgrades.
Our dam and water security expertise is reflected in projects such as the Lake Macdonald Dam Improvement Project (Qld), improving resilience to extreme weather events, alongside long-term delivery partnerships with Australia’s major water authorities. These include

In Western Australia, John Holland maintains a strong and recognised rail capability, underpinned by the longterm PTA Urban Track Maintenance Contract, through which we have
supported the safe, reliable operation of the metropolitan rail network over 30 years, as well as delivery of the Perth City Link Rail Project, which transformed the Perth CBD rail environment and unlocked major urban renewal outcomes.
