STANTEC WAS HIRED TO CONSULT ON THE DESIGN OF A 7,000 SQUARE FOOT PLAZA AS WELL AS THE STREETSCAPE FOR THREE FRONTAGES ALONG A LARGE OFFICE BUILDING IN TRIBECA.
THE DESIGN FOR THE PLAZA INCLUDES AN ENGINEERED SURFACE BRIDGING OVER UNIQUE EXISTING CONDITIONS IN ORDER TO PROTECT AN ESTABLISHED MATURE TREE CANOPY. THE UNDULATING SEAT WALLS ARE DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF THEIR FOUNDATIONS TO SENSITIVE ROOT ZONE AREAS AS WELL AS FOSTER SOCIAL INTERACTIVITY WITHIN THE PLAZA.

A MILE LONG RESILIENCE PROJECT IN STATEN ISLAND, NY - STANTEC IS DESIGNING A SERIES OF SHORELINE LANDSCAPE ELEMENTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH SCAPE’S LIVING BREAKWATER SYSTEM. TOGETHER, BOTH SYSTEMS FORM A LAYERED APPROACH TO ATTENUATE WAVE ACTION AND PROTECT THE COMMUNITY FROM STORM SURGE. THE SHORELINE ELEMENTS ALSO LINK TOGETHER TO CREATE A NEW WATERFRONT PARK.
