BRAVO! The premiere launch of Bravo TV’s Real Estate Wars needed two screenings to hold all the RSVP’s of Orange County’s most prominent agents and influencers. Held at the Port Theatre in Corona Del Mar, guests walked a red carpet and were greeted by champagne girls with silver trays.

Photo booth fun of the new show’s local stars included props of Hoda, Hunter, Leo, Drew and John McMonigle. As the host for the evening John McMonigle appeared on stage to thank his agents and lovely new bride. A moment of prayer for the Las Vegas victims was conducted by Sales Manager Scott McDonald and demonstrated the teams’ faith based values. Singer, Kim Salvar set the tone with her beautiful national anthem flanked by a big screen American flag which is fast becoming one of John McMonigle’s signature stamps. The heavily promoted, World of Wonder production’s first episode, Let the Games Begin, was viewed with much anticipation as the McMonigle Team showed rival Team Relegance how the real world of luxury real estate operates. The audience enjoyed a friendly on-screen introduction that laid the story line for the upcoming new show. Attendees were cheering and rooting for their favorite agents and were left wanting more of the brilliantly edited show that hi-lights some of the areas most prestigious properties and locations.

HONORING TONY DELAP Laguna Art Museum presented the Wendt Award to renowned California artist Tony DeLap during an exclusive dinner on Sunday, October 29. The Wendt Award, named after one of the great Laguna Beach artists of the past who helped establish the museum, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the knowledge and appreciation of California art. Previous recipients of the award include Ruth Westphal, Wayne Thiebaud, Peter Alexander, and Yvonne Boseker. Tony is one of Orange County’s foremost living artists and has been at the nexus of art movements within the US, and specifically California, his entire career. In addition to playing an integral part to many movements of late twentieth century abstract art, such as op art and the California Light and Space movement, Tony has remained a leading practitioner of Southern California minimalism and “finish/ fetish.” Throughout his career, Tony has explored the concept of the “edge” of a work, concerning himself with examining the point at which painting and sculpture intersect. When done well, interior design has the capacity to affect people both emotionally and intellectually. Ohara Davies-Gaetano’s work seems to be filled with moods that elevate the imagination, achieving this connection of environment and a more enlightened sense of being. “I really believe a home should captivate, intrigue and wow the senses. A home should embrace the comforts of every day life but at the same time transport you.” Mindful of the surrounding nature and how the natural environment translates within the interior, Ohara studies the landscape, and works on a palette of colors and textures that enhances the landscape and plays off the natural beauty of light. Ohara has a legacy of artistic influencers in her family and those influences abound in her effortlessly blissful interiors. “I am a believer in less is more, but the less has to all be so well thought out. I never design, just to design… I like details that make sense in a space, that add dimension and that tell a story.” Ohara grew up in NYC surrounded by art and antiques and started traveling to Europe at a very young age. When most of her fiends in high school and college were heading off to Cancun, she was volunteering her time working on restoring old buildings abroad.

The glamorous and crimsontinged light of one space gives way to slight samplings of pale, carnation pink that barely blush the layered accent palette of the dining room. GLOBAL GLOW GALA Raises a half million dollars for girls

A small girl in a blue dress outside an African village never left the heart of Kylie Shuyler. She is the catalyst for an international movement headed by an Orange County mom, CEO and influencer with the determination to make sure girls around the world realize their individual potential. As a nod to the girl in a blue dress, Kylie Shuyler, founder and hostess for the evening, dressed in a gem blue dress and spoke from her heart and experience to garner support for her big global movement. Global G.L.O.W. (Global Girls Leading Our World), a nonprofit dedicated to igniting the power of women and girls on a local and global scale, more than doubled fundraising goals with the first annual Glow Gala, which was recently held at The Resort at Pelican Hill. Over $525,000 was raised to support the organization’s largest global initiative, the HerStory Campaign. JDRF 2018 DREAM GALA to Benefit Type 1 Diabetes Leading Global Organization Funding Type 1 Diabetes Research Brings Orange County Together for a Cure The JDRF Orange County Chapter’s 2018 Dream Gala held on March 17, 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, brought together influential leaders, sponsors and organization supporters to help raise nearly $800,000 for diabetes research – a notable amount for the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Nearly 400 JDRF supporters came together for a magical evening to turn type 1 into type NONE. This year, the gala was emceed by MLB Network’s Brian Kenny and produced by Linda Young and her team at Elite OC Productions. JDRF’s Orange County Chapter, headquartered in Irvine, was thrilled to honor the Men on a Mission for their contributions to Orange County’s T1D community. The Literacy Project addresses illiteracy at its earliest stage by teaching at-risk second-graders how to read. The statistics on literacy underscore the critical need to address illiteracy in the United States. Donors dig deep at MIRACLE OF MOBILITY gala, raising $1.5 Million to fund nearly 19,000 more free wheelchairs Free Wheelchair Mission celebrates one million lives changed through gift of mobility, begins mission to give out second million by 2025 It was a celebratory evening in Costa Mesa filled with inspiration and love as more than 700 supporters of Free Wheelchair Mission gathered at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on July 13 to relish the momentous milestone of delivering one million wheelchairs to people in need in developing nations. But the guests didn’t stop there – at the end of the evening, $1.5 million had been raised, enough to change nearly 19,000 more lives as the humanitarian, faith-based organization began its march to its second million wheelchairs. Departing from the usual “celebrity” keynote speaker route, Free Wheelchair Mission flew in three wheelchair recipients from Vietnam, El Salvador and Jamaica to share their personal stories. It was an emotional night as the guests spoke about their disability, how tough it is to live in their respective countries without mobility, and how their lives have changed dramatically since receiving a wheelchair. While each story began with unique hardships, they all shared a sense of hope and gratitude for bright futures that include going to college, running a business, and giving back to those less fortunate than themselves.
