THE END TIME HARVEST OF THE WHEAT AND TARES

The Word of God refers to a great world harvest of the wheat and the tares that will occur at the end of this age. The scripture explains that the kingdom of heaven will be likened unto a man who sowed good seed in his field, and at night the enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat. “When the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. Then the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this.

The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.” (Mt 13:24-30) The scripture further says that the angels had been instructed to let the wheat and the tares grow up together until the harvest at the end of the age. At that time the angels will be instructed to bundle the tares together to be burned then gather the wheat into God's barn.

Wheat harvest takes place when the ripe wheat in the field is at a peak.

The harvest of the wheat and the tares can only occur when it has become an obvious difference between what is wheat and what is tares.

In Jesus day, he said, "There are yet four months, and then

cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest" (Joh 4:35). He showed they knew when the harvest season was coming; what they did not know the harvest had come."And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest”. (Mt 9:35-38) At the End of this Age, the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) has a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. The angel says it is time to reap the harvest of the earth for it is ripe. Jesus then reaps the harvest of the earth. First the separation of the tares fit for the fire, then the wheat gathered into the barn, to eternal joy.

The scriptures make it clear in the hour of Christ’s, return many will be caught off guard as a thief in the night. But the Bible does say that we can know the times and seasons surrounding His coming. Never before have the conditions been possible for so much of Endtime Bible prophecies to be fulfilled as today. You may be thinking, “…so because disease and immorality are running rampant, and because there are wars and rumors of wars, and because we have had a few more earthquakes, that Jesus is coming back soon? We’ve heard all that before.”

The mandate to declare God’s glory to all nations has always been the commission of God’s covenant people. Since the days of Abraham, the people of faith have had a clear assignment to bring blessing to all the families of the earth. As it is said of Abraham, “…In thee shall all nations be blessed” (Gal 3:8 Before His ascension into heaven, Jesus left His followers' very clear marching orders. Once again the Lord brought our assignment into a laser focus that we call the Great Commission: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy

Ghost” (Matthew 28:19). “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). This commission is what the church is to do between the time Jesus left the earth and the time He returns.

Our current era is a season the Bible would describe as ”…the fullness of time”. Throughout history, God has made major transitions in His dealings with humanity, in two thousand year increments. This leads many Christians to believe that extremely momentous events are poised to occur. As we race toward a new millennium, it is difficult to overstate the importance of the next few years for world evangelization. For roughly two thousand years the church has been under the mandate to sow the seed of God's word to all nations.

The season of harvest is great; the Lord of the harvest will gather his wheat into his barn. The cry will be made, "Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe" (Rev 14:14). The time of reaping has come! Let us gather together for feast rejoicing in the promise of the Father. The psalmist said, we shall doubtless return rejoicing, bringing sheaves. “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Ps 126:6).
