Walk In the Light

“The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them” ( Joh 12:34-36).

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (Joh 8:12).

“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (Joh 1:5-9).

For the people of Israel, "light" was the universal symbol of all that was good and right. The contrast is one all people can understand: stumbling around in the dark can be frightening and dangerous. It's no exaggeration to say that having a source of light, in some situations, can be the difference between life and death. “ For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness” (Ps 1828).

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psa 119:105).

“When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness” (Job 29:3)
