This iconic Scripture is a prophecy of the day of Pentecost outpouring on the disciples in the upper room in Jerusalem. It is quoted in Acts 2 by Peter to show the ful llment. The speci c elements of the prophecy are ful lled in an uncanny certainty. The prophecy speaks of old and young, male and female, and the upper room was lled with a mixture of all these groups, being lled with the Holy Spirit to over owing. The remainder of the prophecy, however, is yet to be ful lled, speaking of the coming tribulation and period of atmospheric and spiritual upheaval. The overall message, though, is one of hope and salvation. In these last days, in the power of the Holy Spirit, revival will come and souls will be saved as the church preaches and witnesses in the world.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it lled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of re, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all lled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all esh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and re, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call” (Joel 2-26-32).

A true blue supporter of something is some who is very loyal and reliable “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4: 23-24).

This truth is illustrated well by Jesus Christ’s explanation to His disciples when they asked Him why He spoke to the people in parables. “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. … Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand” (Matthew 13:11, 13).

Jesus knew his disciples would not be able to understand the spiritual meaning of His words yet. Why? As of yet, the Holy Spirit was only with the disciples and not yet in them (John 14:17). The disciples could not understand the intended depth of the meaning of Christ’s words until the Spirit of truth was in them.

The disciples received the promised Holy Spirit on Pentecost after Christ’s death and resurrection (Acts 2:4). Then they had the capacity to begin to understand all the spiritual truths that God revealed (John 14:26).

In these last days we wait the outpouring of the Spirit to reveal God’s work and to nish all that He has promised. Are you ready for God to pour out His Spirit
