Holy Spirit Rain Down

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a key event in history. Through it, the world was forever changed. It’s crucial to note that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is a ful llment of prophecy. For centuries, God promised to pour out his spirit. God ful lling prophecy is a demonstration of his faithfulness, and veracity of his word.

The cloud is a sign of the Holy Spirit and also for the presence of God. Clouds are the bringers of rain, of refreshment. Rain is also a picture of the Holy Spirit. “It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was lled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 2Ch 5:14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had lled the house of God” (2Ch 5:13-14).

One of the great imageries of the outpouring of the Spirit of God in revival is rain—a deluge of rain. The Psalmist says, “He shall come down like rain … as showers that water the earth” (Psalm 72:6). God Himself says dramatically, “Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness” (Isaiah 45:8). God promises, “I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing” (Ezek. 34:26). The prophet states, “Come and let us return to the Lord: … he will … revive us … he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth” (Hosea 6:1-3).

Again, “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you (Hosea 10:12). Another prophet af rms, “Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain” (Zech. 10:1). All of this is a beautiful picture of the outpouring of the Spirit, which essentially is God manifesting His presence. Although many of these passages have prophetical import, what will be true in the physical kingdom spiritually is true now in the spiritual kingdom—the age of the Spirit.

Revival goes hand in hand with a harvest. You will not have one without the other! When the Holy Spirit comes to convicts us, comforts us, teaches us, sancti es us, leads us in truth and shows us things to come, it is all meant to prepare us to gather in the harvest - to make us able laborers in His vineyard!

Peter, quoted Joel saying, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all esh: . . . And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." When the mighty power of God came at Pentecost and three thousand were saved in a day, Peter says, "This is it! These are the last days about which Joel spoke!”

The church has seen almost 2,000 years of sowing and growing and it is now harvest time! All who have died in Christ up to now represent the rst fruits or the early harvest. Jesus has not yet come because He has been waiting patiently for His nal, mighty harvest! It is time for the latter rain, the power of the Holy Ghost the power the fell at Pentecost. experiencing the Spirit’s great, nal outpouring. “Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his rstborn” (Sec 12:10). Holy Spirit rain down on us!

“Do you really expect revival?” And some say “no” because it doesn’t match in with their conception of prophecy. And others of us say “yes!” because it matches what we inwardly feel and know the mind of the Holy Spirit is. God is a God of revival. He loves to revive His people. God is not a God of dying and of death; God is a God of life. “I am come that they might have life, and might have it more abundantly” [John 10:10].
