Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.
“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar” (Pro 30:5-6).
Every word of God is pure indicates that the Lord’s words and His promises are worthy of our trust because they are tested, tried, and proven to be true. In the original Hebrew, the term translated as “pure” means “proven to be true or trustworthy, flawless.” The word is associated with smelting, or being refined and purified by fire, as in Psa 12:6: “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” God’s Word contains no mixture of impurities, error, or imperfection.
God’s Word is pure for it’s been tried and tested and found to be true. In the Bible, the number seven represents completeness, perfection, and fullness. Because God’s Word is perfect and complete, it can pass any test- a fiery test, the test of time, the test of truth. And it can help us do the same.
We can count on the Word to make us complete, bringing us through fiery trials to burn out the impurities, like bad attitudes, lack of character, etc. As we are in the Word, it will purify us. The Holy Spirit will burn up impurities and make us vessels unto honor, fit for the Master’s use. Then He can fill us and pour us out to bless humanity.
“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward” (Psa 19:7-11).
God’s Word is powerful – having the ability to produce in you what it talks about. Nonetheless, the fact that it’s spoken by God to you doesn’t guarantee that you’d see the results. God’s Word can only produce what it talks about when you work it out. It’s like a seed, and for any seed to germinate, the right environment and conditions necessary for germination must be present. In the same way, God’s Word to you won’t produce any result except you create the right environment – the environment of faith. You must believe the Word and act on it!
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2Ti 3:16-17).
“And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live” (Due 8:2-3).
When you hear the word pure used nowadays its rare as few things are 100% pure. Everything is mixed with something else as a filler because it's expensive and time-consuming to make something pure. When it comes to the word of God you can rest assured it’s 100% pure and trustworthy. His promises are like a shield to which we can take refuge under from the fiery darts of the enemy and his attacks. Its reliability is based on God's character which is perfect and pure and is incapable of lying or misleading.

In our disappointments, regrets, and setbacks in a new way—in the light of Christ’s unfailing love and sovereignty. Moses, Jacob, Isaac, the Old Testament prophets, the apostle Peter—none was exempt from failure. Even David, “a man after [God’s] own heart,” failed miserably when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and then sent her husband to war to be killed.
When we see all the people in the Bible who suffered a shameful fiasco at one point or another, it may look like we have no hope . . . until we remember the Cross. We’ll be reminded that our sins are covered with the blood of Christ, and God is merciful before and after we sin. We’ll see failure as a life lesson from the Lord and as a way to revival in Christ.
Jesus said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Mat 19:14).
Take a moment and reflect on the wonder and joy of childhood. Do you still approach the beauty of the world, the sunrises and flowers, with joyful abandon? God is your Father. He longs for you to accept His gentle reassurance that no matter what questions or concerns are pressing on your heart, you can awaken the spark of joy that lives inside you.
Heavenly Father, when I am feeling burdened by the weight of responsibilities, remind me to lean on You, for You are my Father and I am Your child.
