SUSAN CASPER ABC15 Arizona Host Sonoran Living Susan Casper is an award-winning journalist who truly feels she has never worked a day in her life!

Susan is the co-host of Sonoran Living and host & producer of the 2-time Emmy Award winning monthly series “Community Connection with Susan Casper� on ABC15 Arizona.

In 2008, Susan joined ABC15 as an anchor/reporter before moving her talent to Sonoran Living, the longest running television lifestyle show in Arizona.

A proud military brat, Susan earned her degree in Communication Arts from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.

With more than 25 years in television, Susan has won countless awards including the Positively Powerful Woman Media Leadership Award, Arizona Informant Newsmaker Award and The Phoenix Suns Outstanding Leadership In The African American Community Award.

She has also earned the distinction of being the first African-American woman to anchor a primetime newscast in Tampa, FL.

Susan has a passion for helping others. When she is not on television, you will find Susan giving back to the community as a highly sought after emcee, mentor, volunteer and advocate for less fortunate women and girls.

Susan is a longtime member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), served 5 years as an executive board member of Dress for Success Phoenix and is a founding member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter.

The roller-skating enthusiast and her husband, Sidney, are the proud parents of their twin daughters, Sophia and Sierra, and their rescue pup, Tucker.

PRE SID ING E LDE R A ME CHURCH R E V E R E N D S H E R I O LY N C U R R Y Reverend Sheriolyn Curry is a preacher/ teacher/ church planter/entrepreneur who loves watching lives transform. As a servant leader, Rev Curry’s mission is to serve mankind, and empower others to use their God-given gifts with excellence and to the glory of God! Rev. Curry is the founding pastor of Mt. Moriah Community AME Church in Maricopa, AZ (2007), and since 2012 has been serving as the pastor of Greater Bethel AME Church in Phoenix, AZ. She currently serves as the Financial Secretary of the 5th Episcopal District Women In Ministry.

As an entrepreneur, she is the managing director and owner of several Comfort Keepers franchises in Chandler, AZ. As a leading provider of nonmedical home care services, her goal is not only to be a first-thought provider for these types of services, but also to educate and support families caring for loved ones in long-term care situations.

She also is a strategic advisor in several U Break I Fix franchises.

Rev. Curry is very active in the community. She has served as the Chair of the Board of Seeking Doors, Inc., and is a member of the African American

Advisory Council for Congressional District 7.

On November 14, 2015, Rev. Curry was inducted as a charter member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter. She has received numerous awards including the Positively Powerful Woman Award for Spiritual Leadership in 2012, and the NAACP 2016 Image Award for Religion, the Global Women’s Summit Award for Leadership and the Desert Mountain Conference YPD Pastor of the Year. She is Executive Director of Arizona State University Gammage; ASU Vice President for Cultural Affairs with artistic, fiscal and administrative responsibility for two cultural facilities, with additional responsibility for Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena for non-athletic activities including concerts as well as commencement and convocation exercises.

Colleen was nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the US Senate to serve on the National Council on the Arts.

She was sworn in at the 121st Council meeting in August 1994, and served until November 1997. She served as an Ambassador for the Arts for the National Council on the Arts until 2004.

Colleen worked with the National Endowment for the Arts and Department of Education on the Goals 2000 Arts Education Action Planning Process, and she has spoken at the Library of Congress. In September 2008, she served as keynote speaker at the Alabama Humanities Summit on Technology in Birmingham. In July 1996, she spoke at An American Canvas in Salt Lake City. In 1998, she served as a key speaker at the Classical Music Summit and the Performing Arts Center Summit in Hartford, Connecticut.

Colleen has been recognized for her many contributions to the arts including the 2012 Governor’s Arts Award in 2012, Arizona celebrated their 100th Anniversary and The Arizona Republic named Colleen as one of the individuals who had the greatest impact in the era; 2010 Living History Award from the Phoenix Chapter of The Links, Inc., the Phoenix Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. and the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Phoenix Gamma Mu Chapter; the 2009 Touring Broadway Award from The Broadway League; the Girl Scouts World of the Arts Award; Mill Avenue District Esteemed Excellence Award; the Fan Taylor Award presented by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, January 2007; Women Who Care Award presented

by Phoenix Theatre, April 2006; the Second Annual La Voce Delle Arti Award by the Orpheus Male Chorus, March 2005; and by the Consortium of Black Organizations and Others for the Arts, March 1997.

Also in 1997, Colleen was recognized for her work with the disabled community. Western Arts Alliance honored her with the Betty Connors Award in September 1996. Colleen was selected as a 1995 YWCA Tribute to Women Award and recognized for her achievements in raising the quality of life for women and their families. Colleen has held positions at Dartmouth College and Colorado State University. She was Director of Performing Arts and Professional Development at the Western States Arts Federation. She has served on numerous NEA, regional and state panels, as well as being an invited speaker at national conferences. She was an advisor to the National Dance Project, Africa Exchange Advisory Council, The Japan Foundation and its performing arts program, and a contemporary theatre partnership with the US/ Netherlands Project.

Colleen currently serves as a Board member on The Broadway League Board of Governors, Childsplay and Creative Capital.

She also serves on The Broadway League Labor Committee, Road Presenters/Intra-Industry Committee, Road/Labor Subcommittee, co-chaired the 2009 Spring Road Conference and co-chaired the 2010 Biennial Conference. She was Co-Chair of the 2004 Presidential Debate at Arizona State University. She was Vice-Chair for Special Events for the Super Bowl XXX Host Committee and she coordinated the first-ever Super Bowl Concert Series, January 1996. She is a member of Rotary Club of Phoenix 100 (Paul Harris Fellow). She has been on the Board of Directors of the American Arts Alliance and has testified before Congress on behalf of public funding for the arts. Colleen is currently consulted with the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa on their Creative Campus model and the University of Utah and Penn State.

Formerly a dancer and choreographer, she is married to Dr. Kurt Roggensack, volcanologist at Arizona State University, and has a daughter, Kelsey, a graduate of Williams College, four time AllAmerican swimmer, Fulbright Scholar and is currently enrolled in Harvard Graduate School.

Nichol is a first generation college graduation and has nearly two decades global business operations leadership experience.

She oversees multiple operations at Arizona State University including supply chain (procurement and materials management), auxiliaries, parking and transit, sustainability practices, risk management, physical security initiatives, emergency management, and environment health & safety.

E nt re p re n e u r Le a d e r s h i p S T E P H A N I E VA S Q U E Z Owner of Fair Trade Cafe, Phoenix, AZ In 2006, after a life changing trip to Costa Rica, Stephanie experienced an “a-ha” moment. Moved by the culture, love and respect that Costa Ricans displayed for their coffee fields and land, she returned to Arizona knowing she would one day own her own socially conscious coffee shop. Stephanie had the concept and vision in mind, now her focus was on making it a reality. It wasn’t until 2007, in a moment Stephanie calls destiny, she was presented with the opportunity to take over the operations of Fair Trade Café. Since then, Fair Trade Café has become a staple of Roosevelt Row and a gathering place for ASU students, local organizations, business leaders and politicians.

She has been recognized as Stylos 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year, 2014 Cox Latina Entrepreneur of the Year, 40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40, and most recently a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Award by Phoenix Business Journal.

Aside from Ms. Vasquez’s professional accolades, she is deep rooted in her community and is the first to do what she can to help advance causes near and dear to her.

From being a Hispanic Leadership Institute alumna, to a board member of AGUILA Youth Leadership Institute, serving in multiple advisory boards and volunteering of Justice that Works where she assists in transitioning recently incarcerated women into the workforce and community.

Stephanie is constantly engaged in making her community a better place to live, which is one of the reasons she created #WomenofPhoenix, a group of women in the Phoenix area whose endeavor is to empower other women in their life’s journey. Her belief that embracing socially conscious business practices creates a fruitful outcome for all and has guided her professionally and personally. As a mother of three she is working not only to continue her success through her love of coffee, but also to make the world a brighter place for her children and her community.

Claudia Kaercher serves as a resource providing awareness to Pacific Islanders of locally available health and educational agencies, and opportunities. Focus is on Micronesia Independent Island nations of the Freely Associated States of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau. “I am Claudia Palacios Cabrera, Sablan deLeon Guerrero, Alcaraz Fajardo, a Pacific Islander of Chamorro-Filipino descent from the Mariana Archipelago in Micronesia, a region in the Western Pacific. I am married to Ted Kaercher. I honor my family by saying their names.

My family and I lived on Majuro Atoll, Marshall Islands in Micronesia which was of the United Nations Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands under the U.S. administration from 1947 to 1986. When I was one-years old, the U.S. used Bikini Atoll as a thermal nuclear testing site. A total of 68 tests were done from 1946 to 1958. My 3 brothers and 4 sisters were born on Majuro Atoll during those years. We learned the English language from the Maryknoll nuns and Jesuit priest.

In 1973, on Guam, a U.S. Territory, with the exception of my Mom, my family relinquished our Micronesian citizenship to became U.S. Naturalized Citizens.

As a resident of Arizona for over 35 years, I am an active and positive contributor to my

community. I have been working to strengthen and bring awareness about the Pacific Islanders while working closely with other ethnic and racial communities to collaborate on issues affecting healthcare and educational enrichment programs.

For over five years, Island Liaison, Inc. has served Pacific Islanders with a focus on people from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau collectively known as the Freely Associated States (FAS). The FAS Islanders living in Arizona are here in the U.S. under an Agreement of Compact of Free Association (COFA) which allows them to reside and work in the U.S. as lawful non-immigrants.

These Islanders are not eligible for many federal or state services. Island Liaison links them with locally available health and human services programs and educational opportunities.

I am a member of several local and national organizations. In addition, in 2010 U.S. Census, I was the Partnership Assistant for the Pacific Islanders in Arizona.�

M e d i ca l Le a d e r s h i p DR. ANGELA ALLEN Clinic Research Program, Director of Banner Research Institute & Medical Center & ASU Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation Dr. Angela M. Allen is passionate about healthcare, education and community collaboration. This passion is modeled in every aspect of her lifelong commitment to caring for, developing, teaching and mentoring others.

Dr. Allen has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Arizona State University (AZ), a Master of Education/Educational Specialists (EdS) from Oakland University (MI), a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wayne State University (MI). She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse with a specialization in research, as well as a Clinical Professor at Arizona State University.

Because of the devastating impact dementia had within her immediate family, Dr. Allen has fo-cused her scientific research on its impact on families with support and guidance for caregivers.

This is based on the belief that every family has a member who knows of someone impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia. It is that concern for others that lead to over a decade of employment with Banner Health and Arizona State University.

Dr. Allen currently serves in numerous capacities, including as an Arizona State University John

A. Hartford Fellow, and as a Banner Health coinvestigator of several research studies. Those studies include: The Dementia Clinical Initiative, Dementia Care Partners, Dementia Awareness in a Hospital Setting, Steps to Hope, and Family and the Community Services - Focus Group.

Her work extends to mentoring others in research and cultural collaboration. As the Co-Chair of the All of Us Participatory Engagement Board (PEB), she believes in the All of Us mission to accelerate health research and medical breakthroughs, while enabling individualized prevention, treatment, and care for everyone!

Her commitment to service extends beyond formal employment. Dr. Allen is an active member of the Black Nurses Association (BNA); Delta Sigma Theta (DST) Sorority, Inc.; the Arizona Community Foundation, the African American Woman Giving and Empowerment Circle, and the Black Philanthropy Initiative (BPI) having served as the cochair. She currently serves on multiple boards.

Dr. Allen believes GOD has given her a gift to serve and she must give back by serving HIS children.

Whye is the chief diversity and inclusion officer and corporate vice president of social impact and human resources at Intel Corporation. She leads Intel’s $300M Diversity in Technology initiative, which resulted in reaching full representation in Intel’s U.S. workforce in October 2018. She is also responsible for Intel’s investments and programs that deliver positive global impact and enrich lives globally. This includes the advancement of Intel’s leadership in corporate responsibility and integration of inclusive, accessible, and sustainable practices in operations, supply chain, and product innovation.

Whye joined Intel in 1995 as an engineer and has since held numerous roles, including leadership and project engineering roles responsible for acquiring and starting up new facilities for Intel worldwide. She also leads the investment strategy for Intel’s global STEM education portfolio, with an emphasis on girls and underserved populations, and she was a strategist on Girl Rising, a global campaign for girls’ education and empowerment.

As Intel’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, Whye leverages her 25 years of experience to develop

strategies that accelerate progress and integrate diversity and inclusion across the ecosystem. She leads the Intel Foundation, awarding millions in grants focused on STEM programs, disaster relief, and philanthropic efforts of Intel’s employees.

Whye also leads Intel Involved, enabling employees to volunteer their expertise, support their local communities, and inspire the next generation of innovators around the world.

A recognized force for social change, Whye has been the recipient of multiple industry awards, including the 2019 BLACK ENTERPRISE Most Powerful Women in Corporate Diversity Award, 2019 Most Influential Women in Corporate America Award, and 2019 NAFE Women of Excellence Corporate Women’s Champion Award, among others.

Whye earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina and her MBA from the University’s Darla Moore School of Business. She is currently a doctoral student at Arizona State University’s school for the Future of Innovation in Society.
