TOP OVER FIFTY

From the Executive Director…

Welcome to the 2023 Top 50 Over 50 Gala! We are thrilled that you are here to celebrate the achievements of our nominees. Their work in the community has enriched their workplaces, their neighborhoods and their fellow citizens. We applaud them for growing up while staying young!

Research has shown that adults who participate in senior programs have improved physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental and economic well-being. They can also learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic disease. With this in mind, our programs at Positive Maturity are more important than ever. With the rising costs of food and medication, our Geriatric Services Program can assist in finding the right solution. If a senior qualifies for Meals on Wheels, they are available daily at the Shepherd Center at Don Hawkins. Our volunteers benefit from significant volunteer opportunities through our RSVP program, and stipend volunteers can assist at-risk children through the Foster Grandparent Program or help frail or disabled adults through the Senior Companion Program.

Thank you for your continued support of our programs and our mission—to help older adults live independently.

SPECIAL THANKS to Vulcan Park & Museum for providing the location for our nominees’ photo shoot and to Sara Walker Photography for her wonderful photos of our recipients. And thank you to Birmingham Business Resource Center for being an event sponsor!
