Jimmy and Sue Johnson are the owners of Dog Days of Birmingham, a full service dog care facility. They offer daycare, boarding, grooming, training and a retail store. Dogs attending daycare are assigned a regular classroom with their own human to play with and who takes care of them. Most of the regulars have best dog buddies that they hang out on the playground with! One of the most unique features of Dog Days is that the owners live on site in their own special loft. If they have to go out of town a staff member is paid to sleep at the facility. The boarding dogs are never alone overnight. Brad Strickland is Director of Training and has been training dogs for over 15 years and the Head Groomer is Melissa Norman who has over 5 years of grooming experience.

Good People Brewing Company, founded in 2006 by Michael Sellers and Jason Malone, is the oldest and largest brewery in the state of Alabama and a leader in the South’s craft beer movement. The first craft brewery in the Southeast to can their beers, Good People is currently sold throughout Alabama and Tennessee. They have six year-round offerings known as the Ales from the Heart of Dixie, four seasonals, along with a handful of small batch offerings known as the Bearded Reserve series.

You are welcome to visit their newly renovated taproom any day of the week. It serves as a welcoming place for community members to gather over a pint and discuss the world’s problems. THE FACE OF PILATES

Kristy McKinney has a passion for Pilates. From private training with the elderly and elite athletes, to teaching group Pilates classes fused with barre and TRX, she believes Pilates is truly for everyBODY. She was trained and certified through both Balanced Body and STOTT Pilates, and has been teaching for 5 years. “I have personally experienced many of the benefits Pilates has to offer. It healed my SI joint and the bulging disc in my lumbar spine and gives me the strength to perform everyday tasks like lifting my 10 year old son with special needs.�

Kristy is currently training at B3 Strong, a Pilates studio where she trains a wide variety of clients. She also teaches at Club Pilates, which opened in November of last year and offers more than 35 group classes per week for all fitness levels, as well as private sessions. She is the Master Teacher Trainer for their comprehensive Pilates certification program, which will be offered at the Cahaba Heights studio in early 2016.
