TERCEIRA MAR HOTEL BY EMPATIAS
´´On one of these enigmatic islands, we can find a private space totally integrated into the island's utopia and deeply connected with nature, the Terceira Mar Hotel.''
Lost in the Atlantic, lies the deepest of secrets: A silent and sculpted land through lava, surrounded by the blue sea, we find nine untouched islands: the Azores. An isolated paradise that insists on getting lost, in the fog, and in the immensity of the ocean. On one of these enigmatic islands in Angra do Heroísmo, we can find a private space totally integrated into the island's utopia and deeply connected with nature, the Terceira Mar Hotel.
Facing the ocean, surrounded through impressive vegetation, this hotel is the perfect invitation to travel to this magical island, and we were inspired by its peculiarities: the landscape, gastronomy, customs, and, above all, tranquility and connection with the soul of the Azores.

INSPIRATION Terceira Mar Hotel
To respect even further this connection, the Empatias Design team led by Isabel Santos saw in the Terceira Mar Hotel project more than a renovation and went on a journey to the roots of the Island, immersed in the greens and blues of the landscape, in the rocky textures of the caves, the colorful festivals that last all year and the famous colorful 'Empires'.
As in nature, nothing could be boring, everything should have a history, a context, and something that has a geometric interest, in its color or texture. It was therefore necessary to create an experience based on this unique wonder.

BEDROOMS Terceira Mar Hotel
In the rooms, the natural elements bring the calm of the oceans, the green color of the flora present on the island and the color of stone in the natural fabrics. A blanket at the foot of the bed made by artisans and made of pure wool gives the atmosphere of 'warmth' that always exists at home. A space of pure tranquility and connection with what is most natural.

COMMON AREAS Terceira Mar Hotel The common spaces were a great challenge for the Empatias team: making huge public areas, in comfortable places and sharing spaces to bring the customer a cozy and intimate atmosphere in which they could feel at home while enjoying an excellent vacation or simply spend a few days on business. At the outset, it was intended to create a connection to the famous' Empires' present throughout the island, which illustrate the inhabitants' devotion to the Divine EspĂrito Santo when transporting them to the common areas, namely on carpets that not only connect to these important monuments, like tradition. In the empires they found the identity of a people, as well as their taste for parties. These drawings are an overlay of the various Empires present on the island that they also placed on the walls in the form of pictures embroidered by hand by local artisans. |7

At the reception we have the beginning of the story, the beginning of the journey. Why not bring a little of the outdoors for this first experience? The coral colors of the facade, the floors inspired by volcanic basalt, and imposing lamps in cotton fabrics that illuminate the space and warm the environment, were some of the details that inspired the team to create an area that invites not only guests but all those who want to enjoy the essence of the island in the public areas of the hotel. As in the reception, all public areas, such as the restaurant area, were designed to create intimate, comfortable and fun moments.
