From Audrey Hepburn Words ‘’Paris is always a good idea.” And especially now that we are a little bit obsessed with that Paris Je ne sais quoi after Maison & Objet. So from all that passion and inspiration Somewhere in Clichy - in the 9th arrondissement of Paris - there is a stunning place that was the subject of a home makeover by interior design studio 10surdix almost taken from a movie. This French team created an inspiring modern home filled with industrial accents and a mid-century sideboard that you won’t ever forget. In the center of this French movie there is an English star, as big as James Bond itself – Monocles Side Board. This movie-inspired sideboard makes all the difference in the room. With dark walnut and gold plated brass finishes, this mid-century piece can light up a room all by itself. The monocles circles are engraved to the back and side of the unit, giving it an extreme character and high end look. It is a perfect furniture piece for retro lovers or mid-century admirers, giving the knurling knobs on the drawers or the tapered legs.

This Remodel Home, was entirely made by the French trio, the open plan living is very characteristic of industrial interiors. The more modern and slightly bohemian look was achieved Not only by Essential Home’s Monocles sideboard but also by DelightFull’s minimalist Clark chandelier. Deciding to use an oversized mirror simply placed against the wall they made a way to convey a relaxed vibe in such a wide space as this living room. The concrete wall behind the television was given a special touch with the hand painted flowers on the top. The canopy between the master bedroom and the corridor was done especially for this sole purpose in the studios’ workshops near Paris. The wall fixtures are also bespoke pieces by the mid-century lighting brand DelightFull Brubeck wall sconces.

With the help of Nurlan Kamitov, founder and head of INK Architects, the project of 50,000 sq. m. was developed and executed within a record time period. The conceptual basis involves three key elements: nature, culture and history of Central Kazakhstan. One of the dominant symbols of the city is a golden stalk of wheat, which represents its land cultivation and prosperity. Along with stylized samples of folk art, the rich culture and history appears in many furniture elements: carpeted floors, decorative installations and in the shapes of the lighting devices. To perfectly fit the phylosophy of the concept and designer’s idea, BRABBU nature inspired design was chosen, using BRABBU Contract to furnish almost every division. The spacious restaurants adds to its culinary delights a beautiful interior design, which celebrates Kazakhstan’s culture. Tall golden screens and golden details along with blue and yellow constrast are the main colors of the country, this is why elegant IBIS

A MODERN AND ECLECTIC STYLE APARTMENT IN PARIS

Nika is a young Ukrainian designer based in Kiev, owner of the Nika Vorotyntseva Design & Architecture Bureau. She has currently several works in progress all over the world. “We love what we do. Our work - is the ability to create something special, important for people. Each project is unique and also unique experience that we acquire. We try to implement the ideas that bring pleasure to the customer and ourselves. Our team is ready to work actively, sharing fresh ideas and take part in the formation of modern trends.� The apartment located in the center of Paris owns a bright colors and vivid graphic decoration and breathtaking views over the city. Before starting to create the ideal ambience, the designer chosen for this project, Nika Vorotynstseva, made an intensive study by analyzing the Parisian chic interiors. She found out that most of the interiors had an eclectic design with a gentle touch of glamour, so after this research, the designer opted to create an ambiance that was fresh, open and modern.

This 140 sq.m. apartment in the center of Paris is mainly used by its owners as a guest house, since they are a young couple of travel lovers. ceiling in the bathroom and in the hall relate to a classic style, that supports the classic spirit of this apartment. To create a balance between this classic look and the modern flair of today’s design Nika opted to use current pieces of furniture, as well as areas such as the kitchen, that function as a bridge to everything beautiful, comfortable and ergonomic, created today. “The centerpiece of this interior is considered to be the emerald wall with decorative protruding elements in the TV area, which was created according to our sketches made in Ukraine.” Nika tells us. A RUSSIAN APARTMENT WITH CONTEMPORARY TOUCH A posh creation by Ekaterina Lashmanov
Posh, Sharp, Glamourous – this is how we could describe the stylish and fresh interior design creation by Ekaterina Lashmanova, a residential apartment for a young family. The refined work of Ekaterina Lashmanova, through an attentive dedication to details, reaches its apogee within this contemporary project, flowing into an inspiring bold apartment in the imposing city of Moscow, Russia. Ekaterina had the free pass to open the doors of the place and spend some time bringing to life the most tasteful trends. She designed more than a house – she created an inspiring and iconic place to live in. From the high-ceiling to the details of the curtains, everything is custom made, conceived by artisans – a constant search of singularity and perfection. Behind the inspiration of the talented Russian interior designer is a profound admiration for the Portuguese Design – and Boca do Lobo has a main role, leading as pioneer of a product design made to brake boundaries through the aesthetic and bring handcrafted artistic pieces into people’s day-to-day life.

AYKON NINE ELMS Interiors by Versace
In a massive collaborating, leading luxury real estate developers Dico UK property Ltd and DAMAC launched on the 20th of July the first private fashion-branded residence. Bordered by Battersea, the residence is situated in Nine Elms, London.
The building has 50-stories and is entitled AYKON Nine Elms. Versace Home decorated the interiors and lobby of the residence. Versace also designed the art gymnasium, the children’s play area, the roof garden, the cinema, the indoor swimming pool, the spa, and the lounge. Correspondingly, the haute couture brand was immensely involved in the conception of this high-end residential project. Characterized by a mixture of premium penthouses with one to three bedrooms, AKYON Nine Elms provides the most phenomenal views and landscapes, as one is able to gaze over River Thames, the Palace of Westminster, and the London Eye. According to the CEO of Versace, Gian Giacomo Ferraris “Versace is synonymous with fashion and luxury and its participation in the real estate business provides the opportunity to fully experience the Versace lifestyle. In recent years, the private residential projects have become a strategic part of the Versace world. NICOLÒ FAVARETTO RUBELLI Exclusive Interview
Renowned for producing high-quality textiles and precious silks as well as dressing up the most amazing homes and furniture designs with exquisite materials and textures, the Rubelli Group was originated by a Venetian family and is regarded as one of the best luxury brands in the world. The brand is currently managed by Nicolò Favaretto Rubelli. When it comes to everything regarding textiles, Venice was the privileged location to find luxury products, especially in the golden ages. According to Rubelli, there was a decadence period in the 19th centuries and many activities had expired production. In 1889, his grandfather purchased an antique activity that led the way to create the Rubelli brand, which has been rather successful for over 135 years. It started with the development of a small mill and a shop in Venice and it transformed itself into a full-fleshed company which guarantees that the needs of the clients of today’s market are completely satisfied. The Brand concedes great importance to blending, tradition and innovation. Nicolò Favaretto confessed that he is extremely aware that a company cannot evolve only on textiles and the same methods, as he explains, “we have to evolve to update ourselves,” he continues, “the original place was a small loom mill and a shop in Venice, the mill evolved with evolved to a high-tech mill, we still have it, we are still weavers, that’s very important because this allows us to do textiles, which are very different, this gives us a different state of mind and gives us the knowledge and craft to make real quality not just a pattern, but make quality in the fabric which is something that is characteristic and distinguished.”
Rubelli has developed into an international reference having opened stores in Paris, London, New York, and several other countries. In addition to knowing where the real market and clients are, the brand has also acquired or partnered with a cluster of brands, such as Kieffer, which was a more informal collection provided by Paola Navone; Rubelli has also joined forces with Armani Casa, providing exclusive textiles from the Rubelli Collection, and lastly Donghia, American brand specialised in textiles and wallcoverings as well as the lifestyle business. Through the latter, Rubelli received the knowledge to decorate a full home. The designer has also mentioned that fashion is one of the brand’s main inspirations when creating newly bespoke and custom-made products. One of the most exciting and engaging achievements of the brand was doing the curtains of the Bolshoi Opera House.
“We still want to do those things, if a decorator comes and say I have a beautiful home, I want something unique, we will do it. We will study, it could be linen, it could be cotton, could be frame retardant, highly technical, could be golden silk. We don’t care, we want to do something new, so we are happy to continue that and stay weavers. It’s our DNA, it’s our identity, but we also have to invent ourselves in a different way.” Entering the world of furnishings started for Rubelli with Donghia, in which they presented a marvellous collection at Salone del Mobile, earlier this year, targeted specifically for the American market. The tailored-made collection is characterised by topnotch quality and a strong presence of Italian style. The brand also collaborated with late Milanese architect and designer, Luca Scacchetti, who created the first line. Slowly by slowly, the brand started to expand their territory in regards to furniture by
introducing new designs that hadn’t been properly presented or were made in an erroneous time. Nicolò Favaretto revealed that it is a continuous challenge to modernise the company, because people’s perception may still lie on a company of antique fabrics, which is not entirely true since Rubelli has lingered onto other ventures as well. In regards to communication, the brand is quite precise on fomenting this idea, and they also present their new pieces or collection in a curated catalogue, which displays a few images that are rather unexpected as well as combining traditional fabrics with contemporary designs and settings. In regards to novelties, Rubelli enlisted the help of two young designers, the leaders of Nava+Nava, who created a versatile seat dubbed as Pila 47. The company also launched a wonderful contemporary sofa called Domino which reaffirms the statement of reinvention by adding a sparkling allure while still starting from the tradition standpoint. COVETED: Do you have a favorite project or a favorite story about one of your projects?
Amy Lau: It was inspiring and exciting to work on a private residence in Chicago – the client is a dance choreographer who regularly entertains and hosts parties in their living room, which doubles as a 250-person ballroom. I imagined these lively events taking place in Van Gogh’s Starry Night come to life, with guests mingling and music floating through a scene of deep, seductive shades of blue punctuated with sparkling accents. The abstract hand knotted wool and silk rug and hand-embroidered Lauren Saunders pillows paint a celestial scene, and the Claire Falkenstein bronze sculpture floating above the sofa captures the imagination with welded copper, brass, and shimmering glass. COVETED: All artists need some inspiration to work, and interior designers are artists too. So, what or who really inspires you?
Amy Lau: Primarily, I look to nature to be inspired – I find incredible color palettes by observing the subtle change from blue to green on a bird’s wing, or the intricate detailed pattern on a butterfly. I am an avid scuba-diver so I also love the unexpected color combinations in schools of fish, coral reefs, and the sandy beach towns I visit to pursue this hobby. Diverse cultures inspire me – from Japan to Turkey, Mexico to Saudi Arabia – each has a story to tell and a wealth of history, tradition, and artistic technique to explore and incorporate in my work.

For many design lovers and professionals, the British designer is the queen of interior design, and avatar of high-end design and modern tips for the home. Can you imagine that one person can simultaneously be an entrepreneur, author of eight books, and educator, while flourishing for more than 40 years? Our magazine was curious to find out about the well-renowned designer’s daily routine. While communicating, CovetED was told that one of the thousands of reasons Hoppen loves being a designer is that every day is different and brings new challenges, tasks, and things to do. All of this is kept on an agenda in order to create some balance and harmony in her life. Having this incredibly hectic schedule, the worldly star shared with us her love of traveling and the particular features of her rituals. First of all, it is crucial always to find time to exercise.
