Make it special ... because it only happens once.

CherryPop Star Tempest DuJour & filmmaker Assaad Yacoub appear at the Arizona premiere September 14th

by Deon Brown 34

WWW.IONAZ.COM September 2017

W

e all gotta start somewhere. Even the outcasts and the ingenues. But eventually it’s out with the—cough, cough—“old” and in with the new! Everything is thrown into chaos for Zaza (Tempest DuJour),a legendary performer in her small bar. As she struggles to come to terms with life after her last night in drag, she refuses to leave her dressing room. If Zaza’s crisis isn’t enough, things get even more interesting when the pretty, young, new (and very nervous) “girl” (Lars Berge) in town makes her debut on stage—but young miss is hiding a secret. But for now, as the Cherry, she’s “just gotta go out there, and do what you’re told.” Not surprisingly, there’s more shade backstage than in the Redwood National Park when a bunch of vicious, backstabbing queens are thrown into the mix and the library is open for read after read. The hysteria all takes place during one manic, nutty, zany night of tears, fears and brassieres. Star Tempest DuJour leaked the news, “Cherry Pop features some pretty fabulous talent from LA, Drag Race, and pop icons. We have an

Original Pussycat Doll, America’s Next Top Model favorite, social media superstars, and an actor who will be a main character in the upcoming Marvel movie series.” Movies like this don’t come along often, and this one’s special. Director and filmmaker Assaad Yacoub (pictured top) discussed the successes and challenges making a movie about drag queens with ION Arizona. “Making a drag movie is so much fun because you have all the personalities keeping the crew entertained. It makes working on set such a blast,” Assaad said. “There are always challenges on a movie set. Scheduling all the queens was the toughest part, though, especially because a lot of the girls in the movie travel for work.” Assaad had no problem rolling up his shirtsleeves. Making Cherry Pop was more than directing: it was a genuine “hands on” experience. “Other than working with such a talented cast and crew my favorite part was getting to build all my sets on a soundstage for the first time,” he told us. “A filmmaker very rarely gets the chance to have complete control of the world they are portraying.”

September 2017 WWW.IONAZ.COM 35

In a genuine moment of “the show must go on!” Tempest lived a reallife kind of E! Hollywood Story moment when she discovered that it’s true: “There’s no business like show business!” Rumor has is that Vicky Vox was originally slated to play the emotional “Zaza” but circumstances changed and Tempest got a surprise phone call from TinselTown. “I was added to the cast at the last minute when the person who originally had my part backed out a day before shooting began. I got a call asking if I was interested, and was on a plane to LA two hours later. I didn’t even have a script until a few hours before we began shooting the next morning.” “So,” as the song goes, “let’s go on with the show!” Tempest added, “It’s been years since we’ve had a fun drag-themed movie, so Cherry Pop fills a void for those of us who love the outrageous and campy world of drag. People who’ve seen the film always comment on how fun it is to see what goes on backstage at a drag show. Those of us who live it know that’s where the real show is always happening.” Moviemaking is always changing. In a world of inclusion an homogeneity, is there still a place for LGBTQ or queer cinema?

36

WWW.IONAZ.COM September 2017

“LGBT filmmaking is more important now than it ever was,” confirmed Assaad. “it would be awesome to see more than one drag movie come out every couple of years. With all the outlets for distribution we have out there you can touch people all over the world with the content you make.” Now it’s almost time to tuck and strap it on, squirrelfriends! This is what you’ve all been waiting for ... It’s time for somebody to get their cherry popped! Don’t miss this exclusive Arizona screening of Cherry Pop starring: Bob the Drag Queen, Tempest DuJour, Detox, Latrice Royal and Lars Berge, benefiting in part the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS. Be part of the red carpet glamour with star Tempest DuJour and the filmmaker Assaad Yacoub, who will be holding a Q&A and talkback with the audience after the feature. We’ll see you on Thursday, September 14 at the Parson Center for Health and Wellness, 1101 N. Central Ave. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. A fabulous pre-show performance starts at 7:30 p.m. and the screening is at 8 p.m. A cash bar and concessions will be available. See it here first before it’s released on all major digital platforms. Pre-show tickets are for sale online at IONAZ.com See you there ... or we’ll read you to filth!

by Deon Brown 52

WWW.IONAZ.COM September 2017

S

molderingly handsome illustrator and artist Glen Hanson created some of the most eye-catching illustrations capturing the essence of pop culture, entertainment and fashion of our time. Glen created iconic portraits of Hollywood greats like rivals Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, the bitchy Alexis Carrington and the angelic Krystle from 1980s primetime soap, Dynasty, to Cher, Madonna, and Farrah, along with RuPaul and her Drag Racing queens. (He’s appeared at the annual DragCon with his art.) Glen’s pen and paint captured the style of everyone who’s anyone in the fashion world from Vogue magazine’s sphinx-like art director Anna Wintour to glossed-up lips of fan-flashing designer Karl Lagerfeld. Glen’s gay audience grew, taking notice putting a name to his growing talent and style with the introduction of the nationally syndicated endearingly popular comic strip, “Chelsea Boys” (1998-2008) he co-created with Allan Neuwirth about New York City roommates and besties Nathan, Soirée and the hunky Sky. Glen Hanson created the mascot of the mouth-watering Teutonic beefcake in lederhosen that you see on this month’s cover of ION Arizona promoting the First Annual Open Wide Dental “Sausage Fest” on October 14 at Wyndham Garden Phoenix Midtown. ION Arizona caught up with Glen, learning about his brilliant talent and art. ION: We’re in love with the mascot you created for our upcoming party sponsored by Open Wide Dental, “Sausage Fest.” How long did it take to create this Tyrolean, muscle-bound Black Forest hunk? Glen Hanson: The initial rough sketch ideas were quick but the final image took about four days. One day to do clean September 2017 WWW.IONAZ.COM 53

pencils, two days to ink and at least one day to color him. ION: Did you always know that you were going to be an artist? Who were your inspirations/favorite artists? GH: I drew from the time I could hold a pencil. I was obsessed by Disney & Hanna-Barbera Animation as a child and then got into superhero comics around 10-years-old. When I went on to study animation in college, I started looking at classical art, fashion, architecture and other design and movie references. The all helped shaped my style.

54

WWW.IONAZ.COM September 2017

ION: You’re obviously a big fan of entertainment nostalgia pop culture from the past 40 years. You’ve drawn celebrities like Madonna, Cher, and images from popular TV shows and movies like, Bewitched, Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and more. Who are some of your own personal favorite creations? GH: Yes, I’ve been very influenced and inspired by movies, TV & pop music. I’m proudest of the caricatures where I feel I’ve captured the attitude or spirit of whomever I’ve drawn. ION: Have any of the noncommissioning celebrities you’ve illustrated responded about the caricatures you created?

GH: Yes, I’ve been lucky enough to have many of my caricatures acknowledged by the celebs I drew. Tom Cruise bought an original I’d done for Tatler magazine and then commissioned me to create his gift for Billy Crystal’s 50th Birthday. I’ve gotten lovely hand written notes, shoutouts on Twitter and Instagram and the opportunity to meet a few in person! Nothing tops having your childhood idol and Phoenix native, Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), use your image for her live performance tour and kiss you on the lips when you meet her! ION: You’ve worked with Mattel, MTV, Disney TV, DC Comics, Timex, Entertainment Weekly and many more. What have your favorite projects been? GH: It’s been a long career and I’ve done so many different things so it’s tough to pick ... my illustrations in British Vogue & GQ, The New York Times “Style” section, art directing the animated series Spy Groove for MTV, doing design development for Mattel’s “Monster High” dolls, covers for Simon & Schuster’s series of books for tweens, Goddess Girls, designing wearable art costumes for Lady Gaga’s Art Pop Tour and most recently, the childhood dream come true of illustrating a cover for the “Wonder Woman ‘77/Bionic Woman” comic published by Dynamite/DC. ION: You’re so sexy! You’ve made yourself into a caricature. Was it hard to draw yourself? GH: Um ... I don’t know how to respond to that...”Thank you”? I’m usually pretty self-critical so I have my good days and bad days. It’s pretty easy to draw the same boring face you see in the mirror every day. (Laughs) September 2017 WWW.IONAZ.COM 55

which one would you be, and why? ION: You’ve done animation direction and character design for the music video “Ghost Town” for the band Shiny Toy Guns as well as the cartoons Daria and Beetlejuice. Tell us about your animation creations. Do you prefer animation or 2D illustration? GH: Well, my style of animation is 2D so it’s similar to illustration except it has to serve the storytelling. I love immersing myself in an animated project totally and going deeper than just one drawing with characters, storyboards, background design and art direction. It’s much more satisfying than a singular image. However, it’s also a lot more time consuming and costly! ION: What projects have you been working on lately? GH: The next BCEFA (Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS) “Broadway Legend” Ornament for this Holiday Season. I think everyone is going to love this icon but I can’t reveal who yet. More book covers for “Goddess Girls” and the comic series “Die Kitty, Die!”. More caricatures. More merch for HUNTEES and maybe even a new celebrity collaboration! Stay tuned! ION: Your “Thank You For Being A Friend” merchandise with HUNTEES is a big hit! If you were a Golden Girl, 56

WWW.IONAZ.COM September 2017

GH: A combination of Dorothy and Blanche. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from those choices. (Laughs) Make Glen Hanson’s art part of your personal style with a fab t-shirt, tank top, or your home décor with a throw pillow, shower curtain, beach towel, mug, tote bag, magnets, compact mirror or mobile phone case. Check out HUNTEES.com for more Glen Hanson merchandise. You can follow Glen on Instagram @instaglenhanson and “like” his page, The Art of Glen Hanson on Facebook to see what he’s doing.

Love and Hate Battle of the Sexes Starring: Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Sarah Silverman, Alan Cumming, Elisabeth Shue The perfect movie to preview for the ION Arizona annual “Fall Sports” issue. The true stories about tennis champs Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs are as astonishing as the famous “Battle of the Sexes” tennis match in 1973. It’s hard to imagine gender equality issues on the courts today with the success of Navratilova, Evert, Graf and the Williams sisters, but as an emerging athlete, King was all but doomed in her early career because she was a woman. Her coach, tennis ace Alice Marble (who also played against Riggs in 1939-40) told her, “I just want to let you know: you’ll never make it. So don’t bother,” crushed young King. This comedy/drama directed Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) is loosely based the famous 1973 tennis match promoted by gambler, huckster, hustler and ex-champ Bobby Riggs (Carell, The Office, Little Miss Sunshine), then 55, who challenged the 29-year-old King (Stone, La La Land) for the $100,000 prize. The picture focuses on the circus-like antics of Riggs and publicity surrounding the historic match and the relationship between the “rivals.” (It was rumored that Riggs threw the match despite overwhelming odds in his favor to settle gambling debts to

the mob.) King’s intensely personal struggle as a lesbian is also highlighted.

The two athletes became close friends. King called Riggs the night before he died in 1995; the last thing she told him was, “I love you.” Now 73, Billie Jean King won 39 Grand Slam titles, was Time Person of the Year in 1975, and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. She is active in the Elton John AIDS Foundation. BattleOfTheSexes-movie.com Release Date: September 22

Remembering 9/11 The events of September 11, 2001 are remembered in 9/11, starring Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Jacqueline Bisset, and Gina Gershon. Based on actual events and voicemail, it tells the story of five strangers trapped in an elevator, unaware of the events unfolding outside. The documentary Man in Red Bandana is the inspirational story of Welles Crowther, the man who sacrificed his life to save 10 people in the upper reaches of the massive South Tower. Kesha Rainbow Listening to Kesha Rose Sebert’s, debut no. 1 hit “TiK ToK” instantly brings to mind the sloppy, vodka-tinged glamour and gimmicks of 2010. Even at that time Ke$ha seemed a discount version of her contemporaries, not Lady Gaga but the girl who dressed up as her for Halloween, missing all the nuances that hinted at something deeper. We know now that those choices weren’t all hers to make. It’s a miracle that Rainbow even exists today given the fact that Kesha is embroiled in a series of lawsuits with her former producer, legally barring her from releasing any music. Rainbow opens with the guitar ballad “Bastards.” Under the glitter there was a Nashville girl all along as she sings, “Don’t let the bastards take you down!” Produced by Ryan Lewis of Macklemore fame, “Praying” is the statement Kesha seemed to have been waiting to say, she threatens you-know-who while singing, “I hope you find your peace, on your knees, praying ...” The songs are confessionals, they aren’t in anyway groundbreaking but still intriguing in their context. There is a range of colorful collaborators on Rainbow. Eagles of Death Metal appear on the rock tracks “Let Em Talk’ and “Boogie Feet.” Dolly Parton joins her on “Old Flames (Can’t Hold a Candle To You),” a song she originally sang in 1980 written by Kesha’s singersongwriter mother Pebe Sebert. On “Woman” Kesha fills in for Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse in front of Mark

With their first new album in five years, Grizzly Bear returns with Painted Ruins, featuring their previously released singles, “Mourning Sounds” “Four Cypresses” and “Neighbors.” Painted Ruins is as intricate and pastoral as all their other previous works. Broadway to Burbank action. The construction of script and song is reminiscent of racier Pitch Perfect, and if you liked that, you’ll love this.

Opening Night (2016)

Does the time honored recipe for a musical-comedy work? Will true love win? (What do you think?)

Starring: Topher Grace, JC Chasez, Anne Heche, Taye Diggs, Rob Riggle The classic musical-comedy formula goes like this: boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy wises up and gets girl back. I was suspicious of this indie musical-comedy, but this truly shines. Nick (Grace, the difficult actor from That ‘70s Show) was a failure on Broadway. Now he’s failing as a production manager for a new Broadway jukebox musical called, “One Hit Wonderland” starring an egotistical, womanizing JC Chasez (of NSYNC fame) as himself. Complications arise when Nick’s ex-girlfriend, (Alona Tal) Chloe, the understudy, has a fling with JC, then takes the stage on opening night in place of fading stage legend Brooke (the currently not a lesbian Heche, Psycho, 1998, is genius here), because “the show goes the f#&k on.” It says so. Right on the poster. Chasez stands out as the has-been boybander who sang with “that other guy.” Taye Diggs (Broadway star of RENT and Idina Menzel’s husband) is a brilliant scene-stealer as hot ‘n’ horny homo “Malcomb.” Brilliantly choreographed musical numbers of 80s hits punctuate the

Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, season one (1968)

Take a far out trip in the Way Back Machine to the groovy 1960s in “beautiful, downtown Burbank” with Dan Rowan and Dick Martin. From 1968-1973 NBC’s daffy vaudeville/burlesque-style sketch variety-comedy show kept America in stitches. Phrases like “Sock it to me,” and “You bet your sweet bippy!” peppered conversations. Rat Packer Peter Lawford slyly commented, “‘Gay’ doesn’t always mean, ‘happy,’” in an early episode. 50 years later the show still entertains. Laugh-In inspired Austin Powers, Saturday Night Live and even The Muppet Show with it’s bizarre, meta comedy, while launching careers of Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin and others. Season one offers 4 DVDs, 14 complete episodes and bonus footage, $24.95 SRP. Go for all 140 episodes on 38 DVDs for $249.95 available now at TimeLife.com or call 800-950-7887

e’re a long way from Italy here in Phoenix, Arizona. Fortunately, we have some brave souls from the Old Country who decided to come to the New World and they brought their treasured recipes with them. Grazie Dio! Everybody wishes for that homey little neighborhood ristorante where you can pretty much sit wherever you want and the staff treats you like you’re their long lost friend, clapping you on the back, chattering away and laughing just because ... well, just because you’re there. (There doesn’t have to be a reason for everything in life.) Forno 301 is that kind of a place. It’s hard to find a rating anywhere that’s under four and a half stars out of five. You can’t help but fall in love with the place, because, well, “that’s amoré.” It’s an Italian thing. Owners Roberto Dadone and Luca Gagliano made Roosevelt Street their home for just over two years because they loved the village-like vibe. Developers love that vibe, too, but like everything else in that neighborhood, those special qualities are pretty

Forno 301 On the Move! much always torn down because a new, not-sospecial project is on the way to capitalize on the wonderfulness that used to be. Anyway ... back to Forno 301. Before Phoenix, Roberto and Luca called Sanremo, a town of about 57,000 in northwestern Italy on the Italian Riviera their home. (Why they came here still baffles us ... but we’re glad they did.) New pasta is made on the premises daily; Luca is the “pizzaiolo”—that’s what they call the guy who makes pizza, plus he also makes and bread for the panini. Although Forno 301 may be moving (more on that) we decided it was high time we visited this hidden gem. Yes, we’re kicking ourselves for waiting so long. And, yes, we hate ourselves for procrastinating. That doesn’t mean you have to. Three varieties of Bruschette for $8 each pave the way for more goodies. Our hearth-fresh artisan bread came topped with gorgonzola cheese, fig marmalade and prosciutto crudo. It’s a great way to start, although we wished there was more of the amazing gorgonzola and the fantastic marmalade. September 2017 WWW.IONAZ.COM 69

wait to go back for the Calzone stuffed with mozzarella, tomato sauce, ricotta, salami and prosciutto.

We couldn’t resist trying their “Specialitá,” a divine Eggplant Parmigiana. The bubbling crock with a rich marinara sauce coddles the fork-tender, but not overcooked, eggplant without drowning out the garden-fresh flavor of the vegetable. You won’t want to share this vegetarian-friendly delight and only $9. You’ll come back for more. Another hallmark is their Ravioli. The rich, egginess of the pasta shines, just as it should, in these fluffy, buttery pillows stuffed with ricotta. $12 How can you dine without pizza? An array of 11 wood-fired pies measuring around 12-inches make choosing difficult. We picked their namesake: the 301 with fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce, sausage, mushrooms and onions. What’s not to love? The crust is perfectly baked, with that marvelous bit of char crowning the pie’s edge. Pizza ranges from $10 to $14 each. We can’t 70

Three different salads bring a fresh bit of the garden to the table. We loved the “0” with fresh, mixed greens, yellow and red heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese, croutons and walnuts with a sweet champagne dressing. $8. How about a panini? Forno 301 has three of these warm sandwiches to choose from with a variety of stuff inside for under $10. Got a sweet tooth? You gotta try the Tiramisu, ladyfingers soaked in rum & coffee, layered with mascarpone, $6. The big news is that after Labor Day you’ll find Forno 301 in a new home (remember that development business mentioned earlier?) Look for our paysanos in the fancy new Muse Luxury Apartments. They promise you can still expect the same great menu with maybe a few new surprises. They hinted that maybe cannoli will be on the dessert menu. Please, oh please let it be true! help all kinds of people ... from newly divorced nymphomaniacs to twinks who’ve been passed around more than a Jimmy Swaggart Ministries collection plate! I’m especially thrilled when straight folks read my column and have the nerve to seek advice. So this month’s Favorite Bitch® is all about straight people with gay problems! Time to serve ice cold advice to steaming hot messes ... Hey Miss Tiger, My goddamn husband keeps asking me to piss on him! Why in the hell would he like this? I’m ready to kick that son-of-a-bitch’s ass out of my house! Any advice? — Roxanne in Bisbee, Arizona Dear Verbal Port-A-Potty, With language such as yours, it’s apparent that you’ve been shitting on him for years, so who cares if he wants a golden shower to go with it??? Miss Tiger, I hook up with married women from Craigslist. They know it’s JUST SEX. Why do they act like we’re in a relationship after I pull out? — Paul Dear This Is Why Gays Invented Grindr, Next time you cruise the NSA ads ... make sure your MILF is hooked on phonics the way she’s hooked on eggplant — that way baby girl can read between the lines of your sorryass narrative. Dear Miss Tiger, I love cunnilingus. My boyfriend won’t

do it unless I’m waxed. I can’t to maintain it. What should I do? — Brandi Dear Steal Your Man’s Credit Card, Because your trip to an esthetician is a hell of a lot cheaper than his trip to the emergency room to remove hairs from his trachea! Hi Tiger, My girl won’t let me hit that muffin with a dildo. I need your help! — Dustin Dear If You Love Dildos So Much Then Sit On One Your Damn Self, How the hell am I supposed to help? What do you want me to do ... lube up the dusty dildo that gives her the orgasm your raggedy penis can’t? Hi Miss Tiger, Me and my frat buddies got this competition. We see which one of us can score with the other’s girlfriend. This is on the down-low. Not sure if I’m okay with it. What you think about it? — Christopher Dear I Think Ya’ll Bastards Should Just Circle Jerk Like All The Other Frat Boys, I don’t even share a Big Gulp from 7-Eleven with my best friend ... let alone a left-over milkshake from the night before!

that dreamboat Ben Whitneybell. Mildmannered office manager by day. Supah-Freak by night! He looked awfully cozy with a cutie named Shane. No, wait ... that’s not it. I think it was Zane ... something. (C) Shane or Zane. Close enough. I’m sorry, but all those Pink Squirrels were starting to kick in.

T here’s never a dull

moment! Well, that’s not true. I’ve endured plenty of dull moments in my day. Sometimes I’m the dull one. But you’re never dull. Usually. That’s why I do what I do, trying to keep it peppy.

B

My excitement reached a fever-pitch at BS West for Kiki Andrews’ birthday. (A) It was more fun than a three-ring circus when her strippers started “clowning” around the Big Top! (Whoever that is, C I’d like to meet him. Some of those clowns are “Big Bottoms,” and I know that for a fact.) Kiki made me drink a few Pink Squirrels. Then things got really fun, as you can certainly imagine! D I got a little dizzy when I saw those beauties Ryan Boehme and Trevor Hort ... or is it Trevor Thomas now? (B) All I know is that I’m crazy about all three of ‘em. I was starting to feel a little boozy, so Kiki gave me more liquid fortification. For medicinal purposes, only. My liver did a backflip when I saw

Later on I met the smoking hot tenderoni Eddie Cassidy—a student in the Honors College at ASU. Because I like ‘em smart and sexy, see? He had a beautiful, bosomy, blonde piece of arm candy with him named Juliet. (D) I think. Or was it Julianne? Something like that. I’m not sure because Kiki forced me drink more and more of those yummy, tasty little Pink Squirrels. Then I saw Rob Salvato (right) with Sexy Hairy Guy with a Shirt, and his husband, Sexy Smooth Guy with No Shirt. (E) You can’t possibly expect me to remember their names after all those Pink Squirrels, now, could you? All I know is that I blame Kiki for all that fun. And the Pink Squirrels. And you should, too. he solar eclipse stirred up emotions. You’re still feeling “all the feels.” Now September 22 brings the autumnal equinox, dividing up the day and night equally. Time to make firm decisions! Remember: new broom sweeps clean! September 23, 2017 is controversial: Look for “A woman, clothed as the Sun, with the Moon under her feet.” Jupiter exits Virgo while Venus, Mars and Mercury and nine stars in Leo form a crown on her head. Is this the celestial Virgin giving birth from the Book of Revelations, 12? Will an ancient astrolgically apocalyptic prophecy be revealed? Will this be momentous? There may be trials and tribulations, but I’d plan on going to work on the 24th. Aries Mar. 21 - Apr. 20 It’s time to pamper yourself. If there was ever a time to go gluten-free, give up alcohol, caffeine, sugar and take up yoga, now’s the time. Think, “Purge!”

Taurus April. 21 - May 20 You’re self-confident, but Venus increases your need for affection. Remember, you gotta give some love back, too. You can’t always be an attention whore. Gemini May 21 - June 21 Your workload is increased, thanks to Mercury. Tidy your nest. Pluto ends his retrograde at the end of the month, so expect a transformation, caterpillar, then you’ll be in the spotlight! Cancer June 22 - July 22 You look good. No, you look awesome! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but spend some money on beauty products, clothes and shoes. Exercise a little self-control. Leo July 23 - Aug. 22 Earn some extra money when an opportunity comes your way. This is a good time to upgrade your brand. Venus says, “hello, lover!” but don’t be a pushover. 98

Virgo Aug. 23 - Sep. 22 Unfinished projects are completed. Your reflexes are lightning-quick, this increases your allure. Birthday Virgos: See the intro. Stars surround your head more than ever. Prepare for a big surprise! Keep your wits about you. You’re gonna need ‘em all. Libra Sep. 23 - Oct. 22 It’s a good time to scrub your house from top to bottom. Vacuum up the dirt that’s collected—metaphorically and astrologically speaking. Your birthday starts things rolling with a bizarre cosmic jolt from the celestial birth noted above. Prepare for something freaky! And I mean really freaky! Scorpio Oct. 23 - Nov.23 Kinship is important. Consider joining a club or special interest group. Communications are energized. You make a mark, but make sure you don’t start any arguments. You know how you can be. Seriously. Sagittarius Nov. 23 - Dec. 23 Some things work for you, some things don’t. Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you bomb. It happens. Expect more victories and less flops. By the way, Virgos love your style. Sexy mo’fo’! Capricorn Dec. 23 - Jan. 20 The Sun has you questioning everything— and you have a lot of questions. You also have something to get off your chest. Now’s the time! Remind people exactly who you are. This is a good month to be a top! Aquarius Jan. 21 - Feb. 19 Exorcise those pesky demons and slay those dragons plaguing you. You get a fresh outlook on things. You’re feeling nostalgic and sentimental. Reach out to someone from the past. Or even last week. The Full Moon allows you to see the big picture. Pisces Feb. 20 - Mar. 20 Time to mend fences! Peacemaking is in order. Explore a conflict and end a feud— even if it means apologizing. Look, we all know the asshole was wrong, but, hey ... in the long run, it’s for the best. Hopefully.
