SAME PAGE provides citizens with the opportunity to read and discuss a single book within their community by an author appearing at the Virginia Festival of the Book.

The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library invites all book lovers to participate in this exciting program that will be held throughout the month of March in 2018.

KICKOFF Thursday, March 1 at 5-6:30pm Central Library In celebration of JMRL’s first Same Page community reading project, come view Congregation Beth Israel’s collection of Judaica, as well as an exhibit of lithographs on loan from the synagogue, and enjoy light refreshments. Pick up a free copy of the Same Page title, What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank by Nathan Englander, while supplies last.

Join your neighbors in exploring the themes of Nathan Englander’s What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank, including trust, neighborliness, and Jewish identity.

Saturday, March 24 at 2-3:30pm Central Library STORYTIME MARATHON A selection of beloved children’s authors and illustrators take turns reading from their books, interspersed with short activities for children ages 3-6 and their parents.

Saturday, March 3 at 10:30am Crozet Library ME, MYSELF & I STORYTIME Celebrate what makes you you, with fun stories and art. Ages 3-7.

Requested registration begins February 12.

Saturday, March 10 at 11am Northside Library SAME PAGE PICTURE BOOK FILMS View films of picture book stories that focus on neighborhoods and cultural identity. A snack and juice box will be provided.

Saturday, March 3 between 2-3pm Central Library PAWS TO READ: SHOW & TELL Show off something special from your home and heritage in this community event. Share your story with others, including our therapy dog Moon, leave a reminder of it in our community collage, and get in some dog petting for free.

Wednesday, March 14 at 3:30pm Crozet Library KIDS’ FILM FEST: FROM THE HEART Throughout history, young people have channeled their passions to make a positive change in their neighborhood and beyond. Enjoy several short films based on books about kids who have made a difference and then create a piece of art that reflects the passions in your own heart. Ages 6-11. Requested registration begins February 26.

Sunday, March 18 at 2pm Congregation Beth Israel WHAT WE TALK ABOUT WHEN WE WALK Explore Charlottesville’s Jewish history during this 90 minute walking tour of downtown. See where Jewish residents lived and worked, creating a vital community in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Registration begins March 4.

Tours start at Congregation Beth Israel.

Thursday, March 22 at 6pm Northside Library MEET THE AUTHOR Meet and hear from Nathan Englander, award-winning author of the inaugural Same Page selection. Books will be available for purchase from New Dominion Bookshop.
